Strictly speaking Gaza was taken from Egypt, and the West Bank from Jordan. Maybe it would be better for Israel to negotiate with then, but neither want the "Palestinians" back. In that circumstance, maybe Israel should just push the button and annex both outright.

The PLO violated the Oslo Accords and every other agreement ever signed with Israel. There will never be a two-state peace deal because the PLO doesn't really want peace.

Whatever happened to the good, old Right of Conquest?

Neither side is really willing to negotiate. Both sides are moving farther apart. It would seem that Mr. Kerry is, unfortunately, wasting his time. He doesn't have a big enough stick or a sweet enough carrot. Now what?

John Kerry and Tony Blair. Sending both those guys to try to broker a "peace" deal between Israel and the Palestinians is akin to bringing a can of gasoline into a fireworks factory. Kerry ifailed to win the Presidency a few years back, Blair led the Brits into two wars that we should not have been dragged into. He then tried to become "president " of the EU, and failed. Add to the potion the evil EU itself, sticking its ugly nose into the Middle East, and you have a recipe for total disaster.

There will never be "peace" in the Middle East, so long as Israel exists. It is a tiny country, surrounded on all sides by hostile neighbours who wish and work every day for its obliteration. The Palestians could be classified as the enemny within, too. The Marxists and Lefties around the world are on the side of the Palestians. For them, it's the "cool" thing to do. Support the poor Palestinians, who daily fire rockets into Israel, aimed at killing innocent men, women and children. They also send suicide bombers as a little present, just to make life "interesting" for the hard pressed Israeil people.

The Palestinians should have their own homeland, in Gaza. They certainly have no right to claim Jerusalem, north, south, east or west. Jerusalem is the capital of Israel, and has been for thousands of years. The capital city of the Land of the Jews. Today's "West Bank" was ancient Samaria. Are they closely linked to Jews or Palestinians?

Ther will never be peace, because the Arab world, with one or two exceptions, is vehemently anti Israel.

Ever heard of "independence"? Its neither a new word nor concept.

If by independence, you mean secession; it is not a concept I acknowledge.

You mean like when Israel seceded from the British Mandate of Palestine?

Now we may be getting somewhere.

I am just incredulous that you think its anything to do with trying to be cool. You mix the Palestinians of Gaza and West Bank like they are Siamese twins. They are anything but. The Palestinians of West Bank are not firing rockets into Israel. Yet, they still get Israeli settlements and Israel won't recognize their bid for independence. You got the generally peaceful Palestinians of West Bank, and the violent Palestinians of Gaza, but Israel won't let go of either. Israel keeps them both jailed up. They don't want to be Israelis.

Seriously, whatdo you expect people treated like this to do? West Bank sits and takes it, but gets nothing. Gaza fights and only gets the satisfaction of having hit back.

As far as rockets aimed at killing innocent people, you can't really aim those rockets and they hardly ever kill anyone. Maybe one death per thousand rockets. The Israelis have killed hundreds if not thousands more innocent Palestinian men, women and children with high tech weapons they could aim perfectly well.

Yes, the poor Palestinians. Captives in their own homes. Its perfectly obvious that there cannot be peace until they are free. Its the reason why Israel has more peace with Lebanon and Syria and all her neighbors. The only way to have a similar peace with Palestinians is for them to be as free. Its obvious. Its the basis for any peace with anyone. It always has been. Even the native Americans in the U.S. and Canada got reservations with significant freedom from the meddling of the national government. If the Canadians and Americans started building settlements on reservations there would be violence. I cannot fathom your disconnect on such simple and obvious matters.

As if the Israelis building more settlements in West Bank want peace! As if the Israelis, the ultimate in U.N. resolution violators, never broke any agreements! As if the Palestinians have any reason to trust the people who fly military jets and helicopters over their land every single day! The Palestinians are captives in their own homes, and the jailors are the Israelis. Probably the only group of people who would quietly accept that are the Japanese, but they don't live in Palestine!

Steven,

There is no dispute. The World Court in July 2004 ruled that all the settlements are illegal. Under international law, Israel had to withdraw from all of the West Bank and all of Gaza. And under international law Israel has not one atom of sovereignty over any of Jerusalem. The World Court decision said Jerusalem is occupied Palestinian territory.

They are Occupied Palestinian Territories, they are never referred to as Occupied Egyptian Territories or Occupied Jordanian Territories.

We can no longer blame the Palestinians for the failure of the Oslo Accords. Netanyahu appears on a video where he brags about having destroyed the Oslo Accords, with his own hands and deeds.

Netanyahu also bragged that Washington is in his pocket and that he can pull the wool over its eyes.

Palestinians have every right to reject this US blueprint.
