Obama campaign spokesman Bill Burton said “the only ‘flat-out lie’ is this ridiculous claim, and it proves that John McCain has wasted no time in teaching Sarah Palin the ways of the Washington he’s inhabited for the last 26 years.”

Major burn.

Palin says Democrats spreading misinformation and lies

I don't doubt that at all.

The real question here is: Whose lies are they spreading, Palin's or their own...or both?

Ms. Pot meets Mr Kettle.

Is she really surprised? We are talking US politics of course which does not seem to know any other way these days

0 ( +0 / -0 )

What lies are the Obama camp releasing? < :-)

0 ( +0 / -0 )

OK, Gov. Palin: http://www.opednews.com/articles/Sarah-Palin-A-Wolf-in-Moo-by-Anthony-Wade-080904-936.html An intelligent, truthful (for a change) rebuttal to all the charges laid here. I'm listening.....! (I swear to God, what with McCain's outright lies and Palin's "stretching" of the truth, all the adulation, cheers and flagwaving at the GOP convention, I thought the water had been spiked with something. How can so many people, who claim to be intelligent, be so deluded? And this is the ruling party that has its finger on the nookular button? People, we are very much up to our wazoos in alligators!!)

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I can not believe the blinding loyalty both these parties have garnered in this election. I personally think it is disgusting, scary, and immature as two kids arguing about football teams which are both running first place in their divisions.

I recall there was no where near this stupidity when GWB was first elected nor the second time.

You got people on the left yelling out some of the most racist and sexist comments and people on the right doing the same.

Both parties have been running on fear. The repubs with only security in sight and the dems only with the economy and both of them are really not telling you the truth.

What lies are Obama camp releasing?" Just simply asking that question proves my point above; and if I recall correctly Adaydream, you said you are somewhere in your 40's yet you are behaving like a Britney Spears fan.

libertas: How can so many people, who claim to be intelligent, be so deluded?" If you think that question can't be flipped, even in the most logical terms, you too are acting just like Aday.

And this is the ruling party that has its finger on the nookular button?" The first one ever dropped by a dem and his picture still hangs in all their offices. But, by your statement, if the dems were to use it again, you would blindly back them up?

Let's go back to basics: If you don't vote for Dems, it is because you are racist and if you don't vote for Repubs, you are NOW sexist... kind of leaves the so called lib in a box doesn't it? For the conservatives it does too?

I would go on, providing links that show, and do a good job making much of Obama's words lies and I can equally do the same for McCain, but what really sense would it make, as everyone here decided a long time ago who they are going to vote for.

All this election has really accomplished has been making a bunch of authors rich and provided some of the best political jokes on late night tv.

"“the only ‘flat-out lie’ is this ridiculous claim, and it proves that John McCain has wasted no time in teaching Sarah Palin the ways of the Washington he’s inhabited for the last 26 years.”"

'oooohhhh... he's good!'

Hahaha... this is utterly hilarious in how blatenlty obvious a liar Palin is. I don't think ANYONE is stupid enough to believe this one. Obama threatens to fire anyone who attacks her family and she turns and says, 'they are spreading lies about my family'. Classic!

Meanwhile, her speech contained HEAPS of outright lies and exaggerations about both her abilities, what she did for Alaska, and Obama and Co. Hell, even Sarge challenged me to name an example, which I did, and he 'disappeared' (meaning even he couldn't deny it!).

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Palin said Thursday that she has “a big job cut out in front of me running for vice president.”

Yeah she, the first thing that someone needs to tell her is what the Vice Presidents job is because she does not even know! LOL Alaska! Gooooooo John McC another clear example that he is losing his mind.

I think the 2000 election did him in! LOL

0 ( +0 / -0 )

What I saw, and maybe it was part of the show, was a focus on ideas at the Dem Convention. What I saw at the GOP Convention, and again, maybe it's the show, was a cult of personae.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I can't wait for the VP debate, that will be fun to watch.

Joe Biden Vs. Sarah Palin

I'm a Republican, and I will definitely vote for Obama. He has my vote.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

adaydream at 08:40 What lies are the Obama camp releasing? < :-)

It is a lie when you do not want to listen to the truth! Blind party faith is as bad as religious fanaticism.

Yes boys and girls the word of the day for the ultra Republicans is "Fanaticism", can you repeat?

Wearing blinders usually leads to many bumps on the head and if you follow John "old man" McC you are certain to get hurt!

ALASKA!!!!! LOL

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Skip: "I recall there was no where near this stupidity when GWB was first elected nor the second time."

You're right about that! The lies the Republicans are spewing out here make Bush's blatency seem like the world's greatest cunning!

"You got people on the left yelling out some of the most racist and sexist comments and people on the right doing the same."

Skip... show me people on the left yelling out racist comments. I can show you some people on the right towards Obama's name and background, to be sure, but I can't think of too many on the left who would yell out racist comments in defense of Obama (claim that others are screaming racist comments? I can see that!). Anyway, skip, you yourself have taken on a very serious case of what seems like schizophrenia (however it's spelled) in the past week. You literally, in the same sentence a few threads ago, said something like, "People who say things like this are Nazis!" and later started yelling out racist terms about Irish ethnicity, and saying I should be banned when I called you up on it! Your hypocrisy is almost as bad as Palin's!!

Anyway, if you can't see the a$$-backwards thinking of Palin/McCain in that they should practice what they preach (as should you!), then you deserve to just sit back, let be, and keep scratching your head.

Palin and McCain are sick... just plain sick.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Bottom line the whole situation is screwed up! A total of over $900 million has been spent on this circus (WTF). Statistically speaking McCain will die within three years basically meaning that if elected the mayor of a small Alaskan town will be president if McCain is elected. Wright McCain out would you prefer Palin or Obama?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Skip... show me people on the left yelling out racist comments." You going to tell me that accusations of racism are not a form of racism? Support for both Farrakahn and Wright, in my eyes, a form of hate (in the US if you hate whites or hispanics, it seems, it is not called racism). You had posters here talking about the old white guy, making fun of all the old white people are the RNC. (myself included, but I am neither on the left nor the right).

I can show you some people on the right towards Obama's name" Excuse me, you are getting to the high pitched voice yelling again and not hearing me man, I said both sides!

Anyway, skip, you yourself have taken on a very serious case of what seems like schizophrenia (however it's spelled) in the past week. You literally, in the same sentence a few threads ago, said something like, "People who say things like this are Nazis!" Yes, I referred to a lot of people here for going so far that they basically went full circle.. kind of like how you referred me at one point saying I am just like the Muslim terrorists..

and later started yelling out racist terms about Irish ethnicity, and saying I should be banned when I called you up on it!" I did not call for you to be banned. Never, would I ask for anyone, but mostly you, to be banned. What would JT be like for me with smitty? I even ask where you were? Either a mistype or you mis-read.

And, disliking that Irish does not constitute bigotry; at least not right now in the US. Anything Anglo-Sexon is fair game. Obtw, My father was white, so I think I am allowed to get away with it. It's kind of like a black person calling someone the n-word...

Your hypocrisy is almost as bad as Palin's!!" What gives you the authority to claim what is hypocrisy and what is not?

Anyway, if you can't see the a$$-backwards thinking of Palin/McCain" Oh, I do. But I also see on the Obama side as well.. and when I see people, in the US, fainting for politicians and believing everything they say, I get scared. Please look back at earlier posts, my mom's family left a place that went too far in its political ambitions...

"in that they should practice what they preach (as should you!)" What is it that I preach? and you feel there isn't even a little bit of critism due on the Obama's?

, then you deserve to just sit back, let be, and keep scratching your head." Why do you go that route? Almost as if you are pushing up against me in an Roppongi bar, like wanting to escalate the situation on the street..

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I can't wait for the VP debate, that will be fun to watch." yes, but it shouldn't be fun.. It is a serious matter.

Joe Biden Vs. Sarah Palin" I'd go with Palin over Joe but Barrack over John.

I'm a Republican, and I will definitely vote for Obama. He has my vote." Now that is something I can respect. Screw party loyalty.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Who cares what Palin has to say? And what credibility do her comments carry anyway?

Think about, how many people outside Alaska knew she existed before her nomination? How many people are there even in Alaska who know anything about her and support her? Doesn't take 50%+ of the population in Alaska to elect someone. Just take a majority of low percentage of people who bother to vote to elect her.

This lady has a track record or highly conservative ideas. She's go nothing to offer in the VP slot other than her gender for the Republicans. And that ploy hasn't really helped.

She's a right wing populist which is just about the last thing the US general population needs. Ok for the sparce communities in Alaska where people more or less just want to left alone, this works. But for heavily populated states with real problems on much more grand scales, this kind of down home thinking is outdated, ineffective and naive.

I could have had a lot more respect if McCain has choosen Romney, who is at least a respectable national figure with a track record of some consequence. But McCain's judgement in choosing Palin shows dimly upon his judgement and that of his party to provide good leadership.

The upside is that Palin is highly unlikable by anyone who isn't a right wing populist. So she will do the damage to McCain that no democratic statements will be able to make. The more we look at her closely, the less the majority of people out there are going to like what they see.

Sit back and especially watch women go from curious to cautious to hard core against her.

Taka313: "Whose lies are they spreading, Palin's or their own?"

Could you give us an example of a Palin lie? Thanks.

memyself: "I'm a Republican and I will definitely vote for Obama."

That's cool. There's a bunch of Democrats who supported Hillary who will be voting for McCain.

A thought about debates.

Obama is a stellar speaker and will wipe the floor with McCain who seems to need a lot of promting to keep his position and facts straight.

Joe Biden is respected on both sides of the isle as stellar public servant, intelligent legislator and bridge builder between parties to get things done. Palin is clearly a typical grass roots rightist populist with not even 1% of Biden's history or experience.

The VP debates will be like Palin jumping in front of the Biden express train. They will be pickup up pieces of her for months. And there will be no glueing that mess back together in any useful form. Massacre will have a new definition in the dictionary after those debates.

CNN's Soledad O'Brien sandbagged former White House Communications Director Nicole Wallace by asking her how Sarah Palin can claim to be a defender of special needs children when she cut the budget for that Alaska office by 62 percent. Wallace wasn't familiar with the charge -- which isn't surprising, since it's only being made on DailyKos and another liberal site. (Tip for Ms. O'Brien: DailyKos is not a reliable news site.)

This charge is based on looking at the budget for Alaska's Special Education Service Agency for 2007-2009. In fact, the December 2006 budget document that they cite would have been prepared by the outgoing administration -- that of Republican Frank Murkowski, whom Palin defeated.

What's gone unmentioned is that the Palin signed into law a dramatic reform of the state's education financing system that equalizes aid to rural and urban districts, while significantly increasing funding for special needs students. From the publication Education Week:

"Gov. Sarah Palin and state lawmakers have gone ahead with an overhaul of Alaska’s school funding system that supporters predict will provide much-needed financial help to rural schools and those serving students with disabilities.

The plan, enacted in the recently concluded session of the legislature, is based on recommendations issued by a legislative task force last year. It will phase in a greater flow of money to districts outside of Anchorage, Alaska’s largest city, over the next five years.

Advocates for rural and remote schools have lobbied for years for more funding, in particular noting the higher fuel, transportation, and other costs associated with providing education in communities scattered across the vast state.

A second part of the measure raises spending for students with special needs to $73,840 in fiscal 2011, from the current $26,900 per student in fiscal 2008, according to the Alaska Department of Education and Early Development."

So the Netroots and CNN allege that Palin cut special needs funding by 62 percent, by crediting her with the budget proposed by a political opponent. And the truth is that rather than a 62 percent cut, she's actually increasing special needs funding by 175 percent.

It's no wonder a majority of Americans think the media is trying to hurt Palin.

tkoind2: "Who cares what Palin has to say?"

Millions of people.

"And what credibility do her comments carry anyway?"

A whole lot.

"This lady has a track record of highly conservative ideas."

That's a plus.

"McCain's judgement in choosing Palin shows dimly upon his judgement"

No, it shows he is smarter than you thought.

Palin is correct. She is being targetted by the liberal thugs through fear of her skills and envy.

Palin is considered within my circle of friends, as potentially the greatest VP of all time.

Hey, we have McCain the hero, the maverick and Palin the woman of high morals, decency, family values and experience.

Palin is considered within my circle of friends, as potentially the greatest VP of all time.

Isn't that a bit hasty about a woman you first heard of a week ago and have only seen a few clips of on TV?

Soros has bought and paid for the Democrat Party.

Nothing is beneath them.

General Petraeus wins the world war against Islamofascism in the Iraq arena, they invite him to testify before the Senate, and then call him a liar to his face.

Obama was right when he warned McCain that Republicans have no idea what they are up against this time around.

This is not your grandfather's Dem party.

Lies from Palin. 'Obama never authroed a single law.' Obviously false, he's authored several important bills including gun control, WMD disposal and shipping laws, and civil rights laws.

'I told Congress thanks but no thanks for the Bridge to nowhere' She pushed hard for this, promising it during her campaign for governor. She only killed it after it had become a national joke, saying we had 320 billion to go after all the great work of our people in congress, so we will have to end the project. Roughly. Not saying no thanks, more like saying we got caught.

She's come out as a very two-faced person. Kind of the flagship captain for the kind of politics that make the far right so disgusting, using lies in personal attacks and double-standards for her and her family compared to what she wants to make law for everyone else.

Meanwhile, McCain’s campaign is denying a tabloid report that Palin had an extramarital affair. “It’s a vicious lie,” spokesman Steve Schmidt said.

Unlike his own affair which led to divorce. Not that I hold it against him, nor do most Democrats it seems, but the right sure would if he was a Democrat. And they would most certainly run with these allegations against Palin too whether truth, lie or mystery. We all know it. The Republicans put solidarity over consistency or responsibility, and after the last 8 years of that trash, you can see why I support the Democrats.

It is a bit precious for the McCain-Palin Inc. to accuse the Dems of sexism after Clinton fought tooth and nail to win the Dem ticket. To her credit she raised her game and helped to open the way for other women to go further. As it turns out the GOP were waiting in the wings ready to toss out a female after Clinton did all the hard work. Still, Palin is running for VP (and not Prez) which is apparently good enough.

Are all Republicans carpetbaggers? It is really hard to take them seriously. Sure, they talk all sonorous but their actions tell the lie.

skipthesong - I'm 56. I ask a simple question and I'm being behaving like a Britney Spears fan. Smile when you say that. Maybe I am. Maybe not.

I see all these posts and I see several posters asking the same question. What statements have the Obama camp released that were lies about Gov. Palin.

What did they say?

Is there a quote I can get attributed to Obama's camp?

Did Biden say something that was off color?

I read all the fluff and dodge, but no one's answered the basic question.

Or is it the media who has put together inuendoes, questions, suggestions, wonderings and if the republicans didn't like the statement made by some energenic newsperson and it's blamed on Obama's camp. < :-)

0 ( +0 / -0 )

It's teh liberal media bias OMG!!!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

GOP fans will you please show some creativity and pick a new tag word. You toss around Liberal and the word just doesn't mean anything anymore.

Liberal media? You mean the same media owned by all the big greedy corporations that your GOP leaders hold so much investment in and listen to so carefully when making their decisions and casting their votes?

The same satanic evil liberal media that made such a fuss over Bush's dream to attack Iraq that every one of them had CG flags waving and spend 80% of their air time expressing all their support for the troops and war?

How does maintream, profit centered media turn into some kind of liberal conspiracy to undermine Palin? This argument is more GOP smoke and mirrors. More flack, less facts.

Palin will undo herself as more and more people find out what a right wing populist nutter she really is.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I can understand that picking Palin makes sense in getting the religious right stirred up, but I would have liked to have seen McCain show he's serious about what's best for the country by picking someone with business/economic credentials like Mitt Romney.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

aday: I can't believe you are 56.. never met a 56 or even a 46 y.o blogger..

And, just the other day, a record perhaps, there were 250 posts on Palin's daughter being knocked up. 250 like I could care less about some Grizzly Adams chick getting laid in a what is probably the most boring place in the world next to attending church.

First of all, half the things you hear in the media should taken with a grain of salt these days and that what is from American reporters. I keep hearing he said, she said.. blah, blah and it just gets so tiring.

I will say that both camps use the insurance method - fear. Dems have people in the states fearing the economy, the world is going to melt, the repubs are going to get us nuked.... and I can not tell you if they are lying or telling the truth.

Repubs use the same method of fear only on their cover is terrorist still wanting to attack us, our social security is going to be going away, and god knows what..

Equally, I can tell you, neither camps is touching on main issues that really should concern you or will once things get going.

I can find a hundred lies on Palin and I can do the same with Obama. I can find a hundred true stories on both. I can understand being concerned by both I can not understand the concerns being bought up against both...

I can go to a hundred sites that will prove all the candidates are lying and another hundred that will prove they are not lying.

Now, look at your last line: "if the republicans didn't like the statement made by some energenic newsperson and it's blamed on Obama's camp" Now, you know if this so called energetic newsperson were to say something negative about Obama, you would be an inch away from the display and busting your keys.

skipthesong - Yeah there were 250 post maybe, and they were all evil post, right? Or just asking the same questions that get ask everyday all across America.

We all have opinions, but unless it's yours, we're out of line. Or if you tell us we can debate that topic. Did you make any of those posts?

Were any of those posts truthful?

We posted opinions about the bush twins when they did stupid stuff. We talk, we ask questions, we have the freedom of speach. Maybe I should wait till skipthesong tells me the facts. < :-)

lordomni: Lies from Palin. 'Obama never authroed a single law.' Obviously false, he's authored several important bills including gun control, WMD disposal and shipping laws, and civil rights laws."

I am looking everywhere. What laws and/or reform bills were actually written by Obama. I know what lies Palin has said so far, but I would like to get the fact on this one. I am not talking about supporting, co-authoring, or sponsoring. I would like to know what laws/reforms were written by him...

0 ( +0 / -0 )

ColAmerica...you might want to find a new circle of friends. Yours can't seem to understand that the last eight years have been a disaster for the U.S. -- both domestically and internationally. And, nominating a guy who is a Bush clone, and a woman who says the U.S. is doing "God's work" in Iraq, is simply dangerous.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

skipthesong - These bills can be found on the website of the Library of Congress www.thomas.loc.gov, but to save you trouble, I'll post them here for you.

Establish the Kate Mullany National Historic Site. Support the goals and ideals of Better Hearing and Speech Month. Recognize the Ellis Island Medal of Honor. Name courthouse after Thurgood Marshall. Name courthouse after James L. Watson. Name post office after Jonn A. O'Shea. Designate Aug. 7, 2003, as National Purple Heart Recognition Day. Support the goals and ideals of National Purple Heart Recognition Day. Honor the life and legacy of Alexander Hamilton on the bicentennial of his death. Congratulate the Syracuse Univ. Orange Men's Lacrosse Team on winning the championship. Congratulate the Le Moyne College Dolphins Men's Lacrosse Team on winning the championship. Establish the 225th Anniversary of the American Revolution Commemorative Program. Name post office after Sergeant Riayan A. Tejeda. Honor Shirley Chisholm for her service to the nation and express condolences on her death. Honor John J. Downing, Brian Fahey, and Harry Ford, firefighters who lost their lives on duty. Only five of Clinton's bills are, more substantive. Extend period of unemployment assistance to victims of 9/11. Pay for city projects in response to 9/11 18. Assist landmine victims in other countries. Assist family caregivers in accessing affordable respite care. Designate part of the National Forest System in Puerto Rico as protected in the wilderness preservation system.

There you have it, the fact's straight from the Senate Record.

Now, I would post those of Obama's, but the list is too substantive, so I'll mainly categorize.

During the first - 8 - eight years of his elected service he sponsored over 820 bills. He introduced 233 regarding healthcare reform, 125 on poverty and public assistance, 112 crime fighting bills, 97 economic bills, 60 human rights and anti-discrimination bills, 21 ethics reform bills, 15 gun control, 6 veterans affairs and many others.

His first year in the U.S. Senate, he authored 152 bills and co-sponsored another 427. These included

Coburn-Obama Government Transparency Act of 2006 - became law, Lugar-Obama Nuclear Non-proliferation and Conventional Weapons Threat Reduction Act, - became law, Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act, passed the Senate, 2007 Government Ethics Bill, became law, Protection Against Excessive Executive Compensation Bill, In committee, and many more.

In all, since entering the State/U.S. Senate, Senator Obama has written 890 bills and co-sponsored another 1096.

An impressive record, for someone who supposedly has no record according to some who would prefer that this comparison not be made public.

He's not just a talker. He's a doer. < :-)

Just answering skipthesong's post. - I am looking everywhere. What laws and/or reform bills were actually written by Obama. This list came from http://you.presscue.com/node/442

Shoot me for borrowing a list of facts. < :-)

0 ( +0 / -0 )

aday: I think you are feeling me wrong. I never said Obama was not impressive! I just still have a hard time believing any politicians from either the dems or repubs. You are a LOT older than I, so I would imagine you understand.

What I am trying to put out there is my concern for the blinding support (btw, I do understand the blinding support for him amongst African-Americans). Right now, it seems, with the rock star status Obama has, he basically can do anything he wants and most will look the other way and the same holds true for supporters of McCain. I think that is scary. Where I do get very concern is the hesitation of criticism people are going to make against him because of fears of being labeled racist. The same was true when Hillary was going in and I did not notice that many disgusting remarks against her (most were basically aimed at Bill). But the other day's posts against Palin's daughter was really bad. Surely, you wouldn't act like that against even a little known neighbor would you? I sure hope if I run, you guys won't get that low on my family.

Now, you gave me a list - thank you. But I am having trouble finding bills authored by him. Or does sponsoring a bill mean writing a bill?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

skip: "You going to tell me that accusations of racism are not a form of racism?"

Admittedly I've been a bit harsh towards you in some posts recently, but come on! Are you saying that if you were speaking of African Americans as 'n&&%$#s' or some such awful thinking/language and I said you were racist, that I am being racist for pointing it out?? Likewise, if I were talking about homosexuals and said something like, "I wish those fa$%&ts would find their own country!", and you accused me of being intolerant/homophobic, does that mean YOU are simply for saying so?

Give me a break! Are people oft times oversensitive? Hell yes! I myself might feel a tinge uncomfortable upon seeing the 'black' section of an HMV (music shop) in Japan, but that in no way indicates that I am intolerant myself.

"Nowhere did I say you should be banned. What would JT be without smitty?"

Awww... that's sweet. To your credit, you did indeed NOT say that I should be banned, you just said my comment about you calling people 'Nazi' or 'Mick' should. My bad, though it still showed that you were willing to misplace your own idea of what is acceptable and what is not in terms of racism/intolerance, etc.

I will agree with you 100% that people on BOTH sides are going ballistic at times, but my main point against your comments is that you should not point that out and then in the very text come out with a similar comment yourself.

If I said, "Why are people getting so uptight and spouting such hatred? It's unnecessary and they are nothing but Nazi freaks who support either a G#d Da"n senile Mick or some backwater (racial epithet for African Americans!" can you not see the hypocrisy? Now, before anyone launches into a tirade over my comments, I am pointing out an example of extreme hypocrisy -- I am not saying skip said this at all (his comment was much less harsh, and didn't use the 'N' word at all -- but even then for some it is not far from what they are posting.

Look at Palin and McCain, IN THIS VERY THREAD!! Lying about Democrats spreading lies, and it's so painfully obviously untrue!

And yes, skip, the opposition camp has also bolstered their stance and exaggerated truths, but NOT at all like the Palin/McCain team; the latter are truly either suffering from senility and a profound inability to distinguish what is real and what is not, or they simply think that you are all complete and utter buffoons who will swallow anything they shovel towards you.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

mar4eO: "The 12:12 post above ("adaydream") is a complete copy of a post at..."

So what? sarge has been cutting and pasting the same few lines for years now, and you yourself have just posted a completely non-original post in pointing that out. You truly are a Republican, aren't you... can only cut and paste what others do while adding nothing to the conversation or debate yourself except a load of garbage.

Care to comment on the article at hand, or are you just going to take a page from the McCain/Palin rule book on, 'How to succeed at doing nothing yourself'?

I for one think that for each insult or comment on another's work/lack thereof, the poster should suggest something he/she him/herself has done and/or propose to do or be done. That would make the politics more interesting, as well as show that you are willing to fight for a cause beyond blind grasping at straws.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I took a second look at the article as sometimes I get consumed with reading only the posts. Now, unless I read wrong, "Sarah Palin on Thursday blamed supporters of the Democratic presidential ticket for spreading “misinformation and flat-out lies” about her and her family.", but it seems to me that she is not saying Obama himself lied or spread misinformation, but supporters there of and I guess that could mean people like us... and I think that does prove my point about blinding support. You have people here today defending her words as though they were directed at Obama, when they were not and people on the Obama side defending him, when they really didn't need to...

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"Palin says Democrats spreading misinformation and lies"

Joe Biden, on Good Morning America, agrees:

BIDEN: "The truth is some of the stuff that the press has said about -- and others have said about the governor, I think, are outrageous. I just think the way the governor handled it has just been -- I've been admiring of the way she's handled it and I think this stuff about how can she be a governor and a vice president, raise three kids? You gotta laugh at this kind of comment. Maybe the dems HAVE been spreading rumours and lies about Sarah Palin and her weirdly-named brood of kids, but to make such an accusation, clearly referring to the campaign, and then start talking about blogs which have nothing to do with the Obama-Biden campaign is simply pathetic. They acknowledge that this is nothing to do with Obama but they still try to besmirch him with the accusation. What are the depths to which these desperate people will sink?

Pathetic, simply pathetic. I would cheer if they stuck to the issues and tried to have a debate on how to arrest America's current rapid political and economic decline, but instead they resort to playground (trans.= schoolyard) behaviour like this.

How sad!

rove republican playbook

lie, accuse others of lying. bash the press but use the rightwing media echo factory (washington times, regressive rightwing radio, fox news) abusively, accuse others of doing nothing and do nothing yourself (like bush, on vacation 2. 5 years of his last 7), attack others for not being patriotic and make the world less safe for the US (OBL is still free seven years after 9-11).

Americans are sick of the same cynical tactics, tactics that mccain now uses although he hates them and the people who used them against him in 2000 (bush and rove). The Palin pick is such a tactic by him to wedge his way into the presidency, once again fooling the gullible wingers who are faith-based and so so gullible.

Palin should keep on talking.

Obama's presidential campaign said it raised $10 million Thursday following the Republican National Convention speech by rival John McCain's running mate, Sarah Palin.

Obama spokesman Bill Burton said Palin's address, heavily laced with digs at Obama, prompted an outpouring of donations from more than 130,000 donors.

"We're up over the previous record and the number is still climbing the more Palin's attacks are covered on cable and network news," Obama spokesman Bill Burton said.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Romeo, no panic. Not at all.

BTW, what did you think about Palin's comments in her speech about the issues facing Americans?

Oh, that's right - she didn't mention the issues.

She just resorted to attacking Obama which helped him rake in $10 million in just one day after millions of Americans saw her speech and were disgusted by the hate-filled drivel it was.

Heh, Biden is going to have her for breakfast :-)

"Palin says Democrats spreading misinformation and lies"

While she completely ducks the key issues.

I've got to say it's stunningly funny to see the enthusiasm among the Republicans thinking an old white guy and a "hockey mum" are going to be their saviours.

Maybe they would be if John "I was against Bush's tax cuts before I supported them" McCain actually bothered to spend some time focusing on issues facing Americans rather than going hellbent to support Iraqis win the war against the terrorists John McCain's support helped create.

Or maybe if Sarah "Bridge to Nowhere" Palin woke up and looked at ways America can strengthen its borders to help prevent yet another attack on American soil that the Republican's hero George W. Bush let slip through after being repeatedly warned of an Al Quaeda attack.

Or why couldn't John "No drilling!/Drill Now!" McCain tell Americans what he is going to do to help reduce the $6 trillion in debt amassed under George Bush and that McCain wants to add to by continuing his Iraq war without any viable strategy?

Perhaps Sarah Palin could quit attacking Obama and explain what she aims to do about healthcare and education, outline some strategies to fix ballooning Social Security costs, rectify the country's massive trade imbalance with China or do to combat climate change?

No, it would be far easier for the McCain/Palin squad just to keep up their mindless attacks hoping that Americans won't notice the trainwreck their economy has become while McCain has done absolutely nothing about it.

obama is on the run because he got 38 million viewers last week after he has been on the national stage while campaigning for president for the past two years.

Whereas, Sarah Palin got 37 million viewers and she's only been on the national stage for five days.

Amazing - Palin talks on and on, and doesn't mention any of the real issues facing Americans once.

No wonder thousands of disgusted Obama supporters pumped $10 million into his campaign war chest right after her say-nothing speech.

SuchiSake3: I'm sure Clinton had nothing to do with the slack of security that lead to the terrorist attacks. Except for the fact that he decreased military budgets by 63% then spent 720 billion dollars of Social Security funds on wasteful social welfare programs that did nothing but increase crime. And to think that no terrorists existed until the Iraq war is preposterous, seeming how we've been fighting the war on terror since Reagan. Just because Clinton decided to ignore the problem, that doesn't mean it disappeared. The so-called "6 trillion dollar debt" is once again just liberal propaganda that doesn't even exist. We still have less debt than what Clinton had before transferring our Social Security earnings. And lastly, they did talk about health care, tax cuts, and global warming, just in case you missed the perfect speech by McCain. Matter of fact, the Republicans are the only people actually providing details on their plans rather than spending hours on criticizing problems that may or may not even exist.

The Democrats are going insane over the fact that November is still months away and they already lost. Obama / Biden have no idea what they are doing or going to do to prevent the carpet from flying away from beneath them. So instead they launch this massive attack on Palin's family and character, which is very similar to what Kerry attempted before it backfired. Unfortunately, the Democrats don't learn from their prior mistakes. And for that they will lose what could have been an easy election. Instead of attacking a Vice-presidential nominee, which is humorous in itself, maybe Obama and Biden will return to the true issues.

She still thinks a Kurd is something that you get in cottage cheese, and the next 60 days will give plenty of time for her to fall on her face. As for the connection between 9-11 and the Clinton cuts, well no amount of military spending could prevent attacks when the POTUS BWBush ignored explicit warnings.

Doing me webwork today and I ran across this article...

http://my2bucks.wordpress.com/2008/09/02/a-letter-from-someone-who-has-known-sarah-palin-since-1992/

The woman apparently has known Palin for many years and gives her information which seems to be valid.

She does rip pretty deep into Palin though, so you Palin lovers might wanna skip this one.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Sarah Palin could easily clear up all the lies and misinformation. She could just hold a press conference. She could even make it pay per view; because I would pay to see her squirm before the bright lights (not to be confused with the northern lights). She will tell you that the press is against her. Honey, you were never that important. It has nothing to do with you personally; it is about the issues that you continually dodge.

She don't reflect mainstream American women because she is against women's rights on almost every issue.

Obama's presidential campaign said it raised $10 million Thursday following the Republican National Convention speech by rival John McCain's running mate, Sarah Palin.

There are two reasons people donate to political campaigns. The first is to support a candidate they believe in. The second is concern that their candidate might lose. Palin's speech motivated the Obama supporters to donate because of the latter.

If she were such a "loser" and "liability" for McCain as some here have claimed, why would democrats feel this urgent need to donate more money right now? Seems counter-intuitive.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Helter Skelter said:

What a load of b.s.!!! There are many more reasons a person may donate. You NeoCons thrive on lies that in your case say it is a dichotomy. A false dichotomy fallacy is the same as a false dilemma except you offer only two choices and say it is either or. So out of your two reasons for donations what about the people and corporations that donate equal amounts to both campaigns which is very common in every national election? Many of those are donating to gain access or influence which makes your assumption incorrect. There are plenty of other reasons people donate to campaigns. How shallow it is to only think of two reasons.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I don't think Palin is a loser. I think that as a stand-alone figure she is very weak at the national level. However, as a running mate with McCain I think she makes a positive contribution to his electability.

I think most of that contribution comes from unifying the Republican party at the present time but I don't think that in itself creates fewer votes for Obama. I have no doubt that, just because she is a presentable woman, she will win over some of the erstwhile Hillary supporters. However, she'll have to raise her game if she wants to influence the true independents, which is where this election will likely be won or lost.

Her claim about Democrats spreading misinformation and lies is fairly hard to listen to after all the cheap shots against Obama and his wife. A little like elbowing a defender in the face and then taking a dive to try to get a PK.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Palin says Democrats spreading misinformation and lies

Oh my god oh the evil of all those Democrats to say such lies (Obama is a muslim) the Republicans would never attack someone with lies (Obama hates America). We need an America that people like Palin will not be attacked (Obama will eat your Babies if elected).

We need these kind of anti Republican lies to stop (Barrack Hussien Obama, he is a terrorist loving anti American!). So why dont you Democrats stop this hate (Obama hates America).

In these times we need unity! (Obama burn American flags in his back yard at family bar-b-ques!) You know if we rally and ask for truth and fairness (Obama = Osama Bin Laden he attacked America!) in politics then all people will be united!

Americans need to (remember that Obama hates our troops, he kills Americans) keep fairness in front and respect each other! Palin said it right, we need to stop the (Left wing pinko lies and kill them all! Vote McCain!) hate and united!

Love each other and vote in November (Unless your name is Johnson, Williams or well you get the idea, we will be waiting for you! No votes for Obama!)

What has me curious - and I don't consider myself liberal or conservative, but rather a thinking person - is why Palin is accused of being so inexperienced when making political comparisons. What experience does Obama really have? Yes, he's a Senator I know. But from what I've read most of the time he's abstained from voting by just stating 'here' rather than casting an actual vote. I've read in his entry in Wikipedia (no, I really don't care to read his biograpies - you have to actaully do something interesting for me to want to read your biography - being a lawyer and briefly a senator doesn't make it; and he has two out - correct? And Palin is accused of being overly promoted??) that he 'helped' craft legislation. I've 'helped' make a greener world by reccycling, but that doesn't mean I'm an expert on saving the planet.

That's the problem with politics in the U.S. - and why she's correct in her complaints. Each party takes sides and then they can't wait to bash the other. I'm not bashing Barack - he seems a decent type, very bright and likely has some good ideas. I'm not so into politicians that I've done any extensive research on the man - at least I'm willing to admit that. This woman comes out of the blue to a degree, everyone reads the same five or six poorly written articles by their favorite liberal media outlet (and you can't honestly say the the media isn't skewed one way or the other - not these days - objectivity was chucked long ago). Suddenly everyone's an expert on how 'stupid', home-grown and horrible she is. On one hand you complain because she's so unkown, on the other you've all seemed to conclude you know everything about her instantly, and she's rubbish.

Hypocracy in partisan politics is just frighteningly silly. Sheep to the slaughter as they say.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

When Barack was looking at Sen. Webb, I believe, the republicans and Karl Rove being the loudest, talked about his inexperience. Then when Palin is named at McCain's VPO pick then by Karl Rove again she is so-o-o-o experienced.

So much double talk.

She's just a feminine form of dick cheney. A female attack dog. < :-)

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I have to add from other comments/the media as well that I love how the fact that she has a teenage daughter who's pregnant is suddenly such an issue with the liberal crowd. Where was your indignance when your boy Slick Willy was getting his slobbed by a girl who was almost young enough for it to be considered pedophelia - and this on Government time. An eighteen year old single mother pales a bit in that light I should think!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I would counter that Obama is reminiscent of the young JFK. Young, good looking, not so very experienced. Everyone (including my mother, who named me after him - well, not JFK exactly) speaks of him and his presidency in hushed awe. Camelot and the round table. Ummm, not really - try Bay of Pigs and Cuban Missle Crisis. He didn't really accomplish much before he was killed and his inexperience showed in his presidency. Then there's Jimmy Carter (uuuuggh). One of the worst presidents we ever had. Like Obama, he was the somewhat unknown democratic nominee who promised great change. Yeah, we got change alright it just wan't good. How he's a god becuase he builds houses for the poor.

The point is that while Palin is inexperienced, so's the guy being championed to lead our nation from the left side. So when you're in the same boat, what good does shooting holes do?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Did I mention she invented White Bread?

Dang that where it came from? Thanks joe always was curious about that.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

tigermoth - I love how the fact that she has a teenage daughter who's pregnant is suddenly such an issue with the liberal crowd.

Everybody is talking about her pregnant daughter.

We talked about Britney Spires' sister. Some posters and the media slammed her as a slut and where the hell was her mother. When the bush twins got in trouble over and over again, we talked about them.

If you're in the public eye and your underage, unmarried daughter is pregnant, we're going to talk. If she was married and 18 or above, we'd talk about her. Just differently. Buy she's not.

It's not just the left who are talking about it. You're republican voters are looking and talking also. These conservatives are concerned about a presidential VP with an unmarried, underage daughter. Getting married or not, they had sex outside the marriage and some of the conservatives and bible thumpers don't like it. < :-)

0 ( +0 / -0 )

There's little the bible thumpers do like; they're all nuts.

I'm sure it is being looked at by the right as well, but I heard/read comments from the left about it, which just seems silly considering what their old hero was up to. Hmm, seems JFK did the same. Funny too that whenevery one mentions slick willy and his, well improprieties, suddenly folks try to step around that old stinkpile as old news. I still think it funny that so many were willing to over-look that on your and my dime the man was pressuring a very young girl into sex. His wife ignores it to become prez and you all love her. Dem or Rep we hate her in NY, and got rid of our governor for doodling on our time.

barack's getting desperate:

"HARRISBURG, Pa. - Barack Obama's campaign plans to employ high-profile female supporters in an effort to blunt GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin's potential to persuade women to vote Republican."

This will be seen for what it is, an act of desperation by team obama. The problem is, he failed to take women seriously from the get go, and now he will pay for it come November; especially after his mocking of Mrs. Palin as a small town nobody (looks like none of his 300 advisers told hime that that segment of American society is where the bulk of the votes are).

According to the PUMA websites I have visited, they said that even if hillary was to go out on his behalf, their minds are made up: Country before party after the dems did not take them seriously as well as they feel the democrat party leaders abused their power, this coming right behind the new data showing more than 40 million viewers watched Mrs. Palin speak. The media is owned by Republicans????? The Clinton News Network as well? Other than Fox News the media is a mass of liberals intent on spewing gibberish. And I don't like Fox News either. The news is supposed to be reported in a totally unbiased manner for the masses to digest and interpret. In an age where more viewers watch Nancy Grace to see what happened to baby Calee (or whatever her name is - the mom killed her, get on with it) no one cares about unbiased reporting, or even in reporting the truth anymore. So Palin was right in her claim, however it happens on both sides. But claiming the press is conservative is laughable.

Funny you should bring up photo ops. Obama was scheduled to visit wounded troops during his presidential campaign), but when told he couldn't bring his film crew, he made his first executive decision and decided that visiting troops wasn't worth the bother if he couldn't use the footage in a campaign commerical.

That, my friend, is a true Democrat value, especially one of your generation.

Not only does Palin talk to the troops, but she talks to them as real people. She doesn't talk down to them and her voice isn't dripping with condescension or pity. She sees them as heroes and not as victims. Obama just doesn't have that value.

"So far, she hasn't told us which Democrats are doing this, or what lies they are saying."

That doesn't matter to the faithful. She says they're lying and those loyal to the sect nod their heads and mummer agreement.

Farmboy Palin is turn out to be a great pick so far. Politics haven't been this interesting since...Barrack Obama. I agree with you though, her life and policies should be scrutinizes. Her kids should not.

Farmboy: Palin

Palin has the Left in a tizzy. She doesn't fit the stereotype that they have dreamed up for a conservative woman. The Left and the main stream media (which are one and the same) ignored John Edwards' story for nearly a year because they support him. They jumped all over Palin with scurrilous tabloid stories from the moment she was selected by McCain as his running mate. They see her as a threat to their view of what a proper professional woman should be.

The Leftist media and opinion writers went after Palin's daughter first because the conservative idea of abstinance isn't 100% effective - as if the Left's idea of family planning and aborting inconveniect children is. Palin's underage daughter is fair game when Chelsea Clinton is still being protected. Liberals quickly fell for the tabloid accusation that Palin's daughter was the real mother of her youngest child! All of the sudden, Liberals are concerned about Palin's children when for decades they have advocated aborting children that are a threat to a woman's career goals.

For those that are in denial that the Left and the main stream media are going after Palin because of her gender, have you not read the opinion pieces from the New York Times? Blatently misogynist.

Palin, what a joke. I haven't followed the Rep convention but is she the one saying Obama shouldn't be voted because he lack experience ? And who's saying that ? An about two years worth (yeah right) experience gov from Alaska ? Wow if that's qualifying for VP the standars really went down the roof for the reps. Beside, she used to teach (or still does, can't remember now) creationism... that alone scream MENTAL CASE to me heh

ByakkoDono- McCain would not pick a unexperienced mental case as VP.

Already she is being talked about worldwide, and has a growing band of admirers.

Palin is correct, persons such as yourself are spreading misinformation and lies about her good person heh.

Wolfpack,

I don't think that the media is "going after" Palin because of her gender. I think they are going after her because she has played on her gender and because her resume sounds like a cross between a beauty pageant bio and a reprise of W-O-M-A-N.

She needs to make it clear that she is who she says she is. At the current time the glossy resume seems to me to be papering over some unanswered questions, questions which are a little jarring to say the least.

It didn't matter who McCain picked. The die-hard Republicans would have supported anyone. Too many people treat politics as sport. They have some strange need to support their political party even though they can't put forth a decent candidate. You're not Cubs fans people. Wake up.

Both sides badmouth the other side. And both claim foul play. I seem to remember someone talking about a "right wing conspiracy". Elections are like a game. Unfortunately, its a bit like soccer where people fall down and cry foul too often.

Tina Fey is available and the pay is excellent.

I'm sure they're no shortage of male applicants for these "positions".
