Palin talks about the 'big debt spending spree of [Dem leaders]'. Most Americans will be able to see yet another display of hypocrisy from the quitter former Govenor of Alaska in that statement. The only party that got fired was the GOP in 2008.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"Traffic on a highway leading into the town was backed up more than two miles Saturday afternoon as people gathered for the rally, which kicks off a 42-city bus tour that ends in Washington on April 15, tax day."

Is there a place on each buss where the knuckle-draggers can put their guns and other weapons so they will have them ready if need be?

What a big bunch of uneducated and annoying group of people. Too bad Obama has to deal with so many nincompoops.

re this uninformed statement "Most Americans will be able to see yet another display of hypocrisy from the quitter former Govenor Governor) of Alaska in that statement. "

Alaska did fine under Palin. You need to get a clue son.

'We're not going to sit down, shut up'

Good! Please don't! The more Palin and the Teabaggers talk, the stupider they appear, the easier Obama and other good Democrats get re-elected, the better for America.

the ugly Americans behind a pretty face. Information tames anger but they want to remain angry. How many pickup trucks in the parking lot?

they lost the election. Just VOTE, and then you can have the return of your lumpen-nation. If the Republicans don't win, then suck it up and do something meaningful, like paying your bills.

To say that you lost an election then claim it wasn't fair is so 2000. Bush lasted 8 years. Now its the other side's turn. Fair is fair.

Or do rules no longer matter because your side lost?

Americans, so funny

Was 7,000 all the Tea Partiers could scrape up? Not even Todd Palin can bring himself to join the party his wife is going to bring down yet again. The Dems need Sarah Palin to keep doing what she does best - spreading misinformation and lies to people who really should know better. It makes them nothing less than sitting ducks.

Sarah Palin is well on route to become the woman who brings down the GOP - twice.

"About 7,000 people streamed into tiny Searchlight, a former mining town 95 kms south of Las Vegas, bringing American flags,"

7 thousand patriotic Nevadans going to harry reid's podunk birthplace! Amazing. No wonder harry is looking at defeat in his reelection bid (and his speakers seat in the Senate). And no wonder he sent his goons out to throw eggs at the Tea Party Express buses and to threaten journalist Andrew Breitbart with violence.

Yes, there is a link to that story.

oh by the way, this sushisake3 is very misinformed:

"The Dems need Sarah Palin to keep doing what she does best - spreading misinformation and lies to people who really should know better."

The various tea parties all across America are apparently compromised of more women than men, which is an ominous trend for the democrat party.

SenAcorn, you're about 20 years too late in your implication that Obama's administration is somehow responsible for GM's woes. The Obama govt. only took it over because - and after - it had failed, and had no part whatsover in its downfall, in fact GM has been losing market share for decades, as anyone who follows the news will know.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

SenAcorn, Sarah Palin has alredy helped bring the GOP crashing down in defeat once. If Americans are lucky, she will repeat the magic. In fact, I don't see any inter-party disagreement in Sarah Palin running for the GOP ticket - both parties want her to be on the ticket. Only the Dems know it will guarantee them electoral victory. Again. I'm waiting for a Democrats For Sarah movement and am betting it will be huge. :-)

Conservative columnist Andrew Breitbart disputed accounts that tea party activists in Washington shouted racial epithets at black members of Congress amid the health care debate, although he didn’t provide any evidence.

“I know you’re not a racist group,” he told the crowd.

I would say that their insinuation that he prove a negative kind of shows which way the author leans, eh?

Here's an idea... Since the politican in question had people with him that had video cameras... PROVE that it HAPPENED.

Until then... GTFO

So the former governor of the most socialist state in America says the days of big government and big debt spending are over. Why doesn't she just get "clueless" tattooed across her forehead? The tea-partiers are in a lose-lose situation. Either they are going to destroy the Republicans with their purity purges and make them unelectable, or worse, they are going to win. And if they win they will find that brain-dead babble about socialism and big government won't help them much in a deflationary collapse. Because that it what it is, no matter how many times the talking heads chant "recovery" and the performance artists like Beck and Limbaugh chant "it's all Obama's fault".

They can tea party all they want, but it doesn't matter who runs the show, the days of big government and big spending aren't going anywhere. Not unless they want the total collapse to come sooner instead of later.

I don't think Sarah Palin realizes just how many conservatives' dreams she shattered by joining the GOP ticket in 2008. She led the GOP charging to electoral defeat while simultaneously making much of the world wonder what is wrong with the American Right to have picked such an ill-suited candidate for such a demanding job. Sarah Palin needs discipline she simply doesn't have - and has never indicated she will get - to succeed in any relevant position within the party. Is a pretty smile. a wink and an easy-to-remember chant really all that it takes to obtain the Right's endorsement to such a key GOP post?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I'm indifferent to Palin and I could care less if she seeks public office again. But I wouldn't mind seeing her as America's first female president. Why? Because then, for the next 8 years, she would be like sand in the vagina for every leftist, multi-culty, hand-out loser in America. After 4 years of Obama, it would be nice to have that kind of comic relief.

"You’ve read the news stories. According to reports, Tea Party protestors called Congressman John Lewis a ni**er last weekend as he and other lawmakers walked through the crowd. Is it true? Has the allegation been corroborated? Andrew Breitbart is offering a cash reward for proof.

And he’s upped the ante.

Breitbart’s offered to donate $10,000 to the United Negro College Fund for proof that someone used the epithet. I wonder if UNCF would accept the cash.

If the story’s true, surely someone will come forward on sheer principle alone, right? "

The real problem with the GOP is that they have no workable ideas that haven't already been tried, or that the GOP hasn't alredy proposed and then immediately voted against.

Railing against big government spending when they themselves wrote the book on the topic doesn't do anything for the GOP. Like an arsonist who claims the house fire he lit is too hot.

I am really sorry Sarah. When I said "Sit down and shut up!" it was not what I meant. What I meant was that I will be happy to hear you speak when you stop spinning, lying, screeching, dripping faux anger, wrapping yourself in the flag like the phoney you are, injecting the word socialism as if its an automatic evil, and most of all, when you let go of this string of gun imagery.

Sarah "shoot'em up" Palin said: “Don’t Retreat, Instead - RELOAD!”

Until you stop those things and straighten up and start acting like a reasonable, responsible adult please sit down and shut up. That means you can talk all you like when you grow up Sarah. Glad we got that straightened out.

SenatorAcorn said: The more that clueless non Americans hate on Palin the more I suspect she is right on message.

Everybody just hates America right? There is no way outsiders could possibly want what is best for America right? Thank you for yet another paranoid statement showing us why the Palin crowd is dangerous for the world and themselves. These are the type of people who dig bunkers in their backyard. These are the type of people who look on everyone with suspicion unless they wave an American flag every direction. These are the type of people who out of their own fear create of vicious cycle of fear and for thinking everyone is out to get them, end up with no friends which aids the paranoid cycle. Guns, pick-up trucks and hate rallies are a salve for their fears and lonliness.

MSM is going into contortions to try to paintthe Tea Party movement and Conservatives in general as a bunch of racist, gun toting, intolerant violent backward hicks.

To bad the reality is really reported. This never even made it into the news when it happened. I wonder why?

The CPAC meeting last month and the nice reception this fellow got from them.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Sail, did you see the people standing up and clapping instead of booing? And the volume of booing was pretty low for an audience of that size. Most of the people were, tactfully, silent. Forgive me for assuming how they lean. That was not reported because it hardly helps. You talk like the guy was swept out from in front of the podium. He wasn't.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

HeyLars, I agree it is getting lonely on the American Hard Right. The hard core in this group appear to be squeezing out even the moderate voices within their party. Sen. McCain's challenger has been criticizing him for his history of reaching across the aisle to Democrats, a trait that only a little over a year ago the GOP was praising him for. Sadly for conservatives, the near total lack of consistency and direction of the GOP continues to let down the conservative base.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Sailwind, I'd be interested to hear your take on Sarah Palin's use of gun imagery. Appropriate? Inappropriate?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Americans dont mind Palin using words like target and reload. Our Constitution guarantees the RIGHT to bear arms. It bothers non Americans like heylars and susgisake3 but they have no right to vote. So who cares...

Agreed, no violence needed as the moron left the podium in disgrace. Darn those Conservatives.

Sailwind, I'd be interested to hear your take on Sarah Palin's use of gun imagery. Appropriate? Inappropriate?

The targeting phraseology is commonly used by political pros to indicate priority races, but Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) told a New York television station that Palin’s presentation was dangerous, given the context.

“She may believe that she's engaging in metaphor,” said Weiner, whose Kew Gardens, N.Y., district office received a letter containing white powder (later ruled not hazardous). “But there are too many people who have twisted minds who might think that she's being literal.”

Nothing but trying to make political hay out of anything they can and paint the tea party movement as right wing fringe. And a pretty lame attempt at that given that facts.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

stop spinning, lying, screeching, dripping faux anger, wrapping yourself in the flag like the phoney you are, injecting the word socialism as if its an automatic evil, and most of all, when you let go of this string of gun imagery.

Ah, so since she hasn't been doing any of this stuff, then everythings ok then right. Ah wait, you mean you're really opposed to her telling the truth, pointing out the fact that our representatives have betrayed us in becoming just a bunch of Obamalackeys, and pointing us to, socialism. Which despite your attempts to say otherwise, is evil.

HeyLars, I agree it is getting lonely on the American Hard Right.

Actually, its getting rather crowded. More and more people are now calling themselves conservatives. By far the largest identifiable group now. The loons out on the far left fringe though, they're getting to be rather rare. More and more thanks to Obama, people are shifting right. If he wasn't such a disaster for the country, Republicans would be on their hands and knees, thanking god for Obama.

Sen. McCain's challenger has been criticizing him for his history of reaching across the aisle to Democrats, a trait that only a little over a year ago the GOP was praising him for. Sadly for conservatives, the near total lack of consistency and direction of the GOP continues to let down the conservative base.

I'd simply note, that those praising him for this, were RINOs, not conservatives. Big distinction. People who supported Bush, and all his egregious spending were just fine with McCain. McCain was a lot like Bush. Part of the reason he didn't get elected. Pointing out all the big ticket, big government items he's voted for, is very reasonable, particularly in our economic climate. That he is trending right again now that he's facing a tough challenger is no surprise. But once he's got the primary election, I expect him to move decisively to the left again. He'll still oppose Obama. But then, even liberal Republican like Snowe and Collins do.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Sailwind, I'd be interested to hear your take on Sarah Palin's use of gun imagery. Appropriate? Inappropriate?

Considering what the Dems have been using against Republicans, I'd say its turning their metaphors, and pointing em right back at the Dems. It also taps in to voter anger. A lot has been said about Republicans inciting anger, but when it comes down to it, its the Democrats themselves who incited this by pandering to Obama, while ignoring their constituents. Some voter anger is to be expected after being betrayed that badly by those who were supposed to represent them.

When has Palin ever said anything as violent as obama did when, on the campaign trail he declared

* June 14, 2008, 1:29 PM ET

Obama: ‘If They Bring a Knife to the Fight, We Bring a Gun’

0 ( +0 / -0 )

the Teabaggers

It comes as no surprise that leftists continue to use that term of Tea Partiers since they support the party that approved government subsidized viagra for sex offenders.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Sen Acorn: Liberals are OK with Obama inciting violence by saying, "If They Bring a Knife to the Fight, We Bring a Gun" because he has a (D) behind his name.

I'll take hypocrisy for $200, Alex.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

SenatorAcorn said: When has Palin ever said anything as violent as obama did when,

No, no, no. Its not saying things that are violent. Its saying and doing things that incite violence and violent speech in others.

An example is when Palin associated Obama with terrorists because Bill Ayers supported him (just like so many other random donors). Someone in the audience shouted "kill him!".

And have a look at this: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/03/24/sarah-palins-pac-puts-gun_n_511433.html

Is that as bad as when Mitchell put Hayworth in gunsights? Probably not as bad but its still bad. But we are talking about Palin here. She also suggested everyone "aim for" democrats. A key difference between her and others using gun imagery is that Palin herself has associated herself with the use of firearms. She can't use gun imagery and have it be a simple metaphor anymore. Obama can. People don't associate Obama with shooting moose or anything else.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

RomeoRamenII said: since they support the party that approved government subsidized viagra for sex offenders.

That was debunked, where were you? Republicans tried to sneak legislation about the morning after pill attached to same amendment that would block viagra reimbursements to sex offenders. Your mischaracterization of that is called spin. In fact, it shows how little the Republicans care about blocking viagra to sex offenders because rather than go for the guaranteed "pass" they kill it with dead weight and then try to use it as a weapon. Face it. You don't care about the country, principles or Palin. You only care about little victories.

Molenir said: and pointing us to, socialism. Which despite your attempts to say otherwise, is evil.

How completely laughable! The day both Bush and Obama are made to apologize for the socialism of bailing out Wall Street and car companies AND the money they doled out is returned to the pockets of the American taxpayer WITH INTEREST is the day I join your "socialism is evil" campaign. Then on that day we can cut off all our evil socialist allies too! What a joke!

Sit down, shut up and, do as you are told.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

A funny thing about the tea partiers is that half certainly don't know what the Boston tea party was about. What they think it was about is evidence of how their minds are so deeply brainwashed with spin that begun in their grade school history classes. They may as well call themselves "the Black Marketeer Party".

0 ( +0 / -0 )

HeyLars

Your Palin incites violence bunk in her audience was debunked a long time ago. And Huffington post is nothing more than a left wing shill site.

http://www.timesleader.com/news/breakingnews/Secret_Service_says_Kill_him_allegationunfounded.html

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I hope she doesn't shut up, she's comedy gold.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

HeyLars,

Unless you think the Secret Service is incompetent also after their investigation, the MSM has been biased and in the tank with the left on the smears on Palin ever since she was nominated as the V.P. This is yet again classic proof of that in the link above and your continued attempt at recycling that lie and parroting it now.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

An example is when Palin associated Obama with terrorists because Bill Ayers supported him (just like so many other random donors). Someone in the audience shouted "kill him!".

Wait, you mean it wasn't because he was friends with him, went over to his house. Attended parties together. Hmm, I thought that was the reason for it. You must be right, no doubt Bill Ayers was just another random donor. We should all also believe in the Easter Bunny too right?

That was debunked, where were you? Republicans tried to sneak legislation about the morning after pill attached to same amendment that would block viagra reimbursements to sex offenders. Your mischaracterization of that is called spin.

Right, Republicans tried to amend the health care bill, to prevent sex offenders from being able to get government subsidized viagra. Democrats voted down the amendment. Plain and simple, nothing to debunk. You support the Dems, you support the government paying for sex offenders to have Viagra.

A funny thing about the tea partiers is that half certainly don't know what the Boston tea party was about. What they think it was about is evidence of how their minds are so deeply brainwashed with spin that begun in their grade school history classes.

Coming from you, that means... absolutely nothing. I think most people associated with the Tea Party movement actually have a clue. They are very much upset with the bloated government we're living under. They're more in line with the founders of the country. (I know, not your country, but since you insist on commenting...) And just like those original tea partiers were not going to allow England to tax them unfairly, to support causes they didn't approve of, so too are the Tea Partiers upset, and for many of the same reasons.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The clips of the Tea Party I have seen on TV would indicate that it seems to be mainly white middle class. Does anyone know if that is fact or not? I didn't actually see any representation of Hispanics, and very few Blacks. If that is so, it is hardly the voice of the people (unless you consider their net worth as the volume of their voice!).

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Molenir, your statement that socialism is 'evil' shows you don't know what socialism is. In this day and age, that's simply amazing. Liberals often paint conservatives as poorly educated, which does rile conservatives, however conservatives should realize they aren't helping themselves by coming out with such blatant innaccuracies as Molenir has.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Sarah Palin is doing to the GOP what the iceberg did to the Titanic. Except - incredibly - she is going to sink the USS GOP twice. But I'm sure you won't find many patriotic real Americans complaining about that. :-)

I'm interested to find out which is the largest demographic turning up at Tea Parties and Palin rallies and I'm betting it's one and the same: disenfranchised low and middle class whites, the majority of whom backed the bush administration's record spending spree and yet decry Obama's spending, have vague but largely innaccurate ideas about terrorists (ie: 'all Muslims'), claim to be Christian yet backed bush's wars of agression, who have a very dim view of minorities and who will be easily led by their leaders to engage in acts of violence.

I'm interested to find out which is the largest demographic turning up at Tea Parties and Palin rallies and I'm betting it's one and the same: disenfranchised low and middle class whites,

Ask and you shall receive. And once again all the stereotypes you and other liberals have in your head are wrong once again. The source is Talking Points Memo, let me take a moment to savor that irony.

A new CNN poll sheds light on who makes up the Tea Party movement. According to the results, tea partiers are richer, more male and have more education than the general population.

Eleven percent of respondents to the poll said that they had in someway participated in the tea party movement, either by going to a rally, donating money, or "taking some other active step to support the movement." The demographics among that 11% are much different from the rest of the U.S. population.

"Of this core group of Tea Party activists, 6 of 10 are male and half live in rural areas," CNN reports. "Nearly three quarters of Tea Party activists attended college, compared to 54 percent of all Americans, and more than three in four call themselves conservatives."

You shot your own foot by stereotyping liberals in the same breath. Thank you for the information though. Sushi overstepped the bounds by mixing the Tea party with those who attend Sarah Palin rallies. For the later, I have no stats but I would also bet he is correct. I really don't know anything about the Tea Party except that their name is extremely poorly chosen if you know the history.

HeyLars/Sailwind - I see some key similarities between Tea partiers and those who attend Sarah Palin rallies - namely anger, use of simple slogans, a strong conservative bent, lack of trus in government, etc.

HuffPo says many are recently out of work and on government benefits.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Hey Sushi....... 'Yes We Can' and 'Hope and Change' ring a bell for you on the simple slogans thing. And as for Huffpo, I guess if you want to use that as your source for 'unbiased news' well that's your call.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I'm curious at what point do Americans pay back their bills? The whole reason people are all angry is due to prospects in America itself and general fear, fear that is being manipulated here by Palin and others.

Raising taxes could be sold to Americans as the idea to get off the welfare of a communist China. If Americans just raised taxes and paid their bills, they'd be less angry because they would not be throwing away their country. I don't see how the "Tea Party" is helping on any practical level, only as distraction to promote fear of government that really no one can understand.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Heh. Buy the ticket. Take the ride. You own "teh crazy" team temper tantrum.

Good luck with that in November.

And speaking of November, you heard it here first, after poor sarah and her tea-bagging troupe are torn limb to limb by team temper tantrum establishment in the primaries, they will blame Obama.

I'm telling you. They will blame Obama for losing to team temper tantrum.

We will see it on these very threads. I guarantee it.

The Libs forced Sarah Palin into politics thru all their frivolous lawsuits and now they must deal with her. -Another example how Libs are their own worst enemy.

The fiat debt system is based on control (financial slavery) since the paper is really worth nothing. The federal reserve is a private corporation. ProDebt/ProWar Libs think that financial slavery gives them control since they are the "elites." But this system of fiat debt/slavery hurts many and especially our cities very hard. In fact they have become more brazen lately and seem to be going after the financial independents like North Korea, Venezuela et al and more global resources lately. I am against this financial colonialism (slavery) and believe the slave owners should be identified and stopped.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I think the Tea Party movement can count on at least 2 million more supporters come November now that Obamacare is starting to show its true impact on the American people.

That's a lot angry retirees that are going to be forced (so much for keeping your insurance and plan promise) to go into Medicare now. I'm sure that will bring 'joy' to their hearts.

The health care overhaul will cost U.S. companies billions and make them more likely to drop prescription drug coverage for retirees because of a change in how the government subsidizes those benefits.

In the first two days after the law was signed, three major companies — Deere & Co., Caterpillar Inc. and Valero Energy — said they expect to take a total hit of $265 million to account for smaller tax deductions in the future.

With more than 3,500 companies now getting the tax break as an incentive to keep providing coverage, others are almost certain to announce similar cost increases in the weeks ahead as they sort out the impact of the change.

Figuring out what it will mean for retirees will take longer, but analysts said as many as 2 million could lose the prescription drug coverage provided by their former employers, leaving them to enroll in Medicare's program.

Taka is correct November is going to be a electoral bloodbath for the Democrats. Scott Brown's evil 'pick-up' was just the first shot as to how bad it is going to be.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

@Bad et al: Better that you're paying to an organization that is fair and cares more than any insurance company, and what is wrong with helping a senior citizen or child by sharing the wealth? You'll sleep better, hey my take dollar helped someone today, didn't maim or kill. What's more you do help by paying taxes for roads, dams, other infrastructure, the post office, the fire dept, the police... all mixed up and twisted about nothing you haven't been doing since day one. Laughable. Can you see beyond the rim of that cup?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

November is going to be a electoral bloodbath for the Democrats.

A prediction brought by the same folks who predicted that Bush's massive tax cuts would provide boundless confidence and prosperity; predicted that once we invaded Iraq, significant quanitites of WMD would surely be found; and who more recently predicted that the health care bill was dead.

The American people have a way of confounding the ignorant and narrow-minded. And when the ignorant and narrow-minded declare they are not going to "shut up," decent Americans stand up and cheer!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Yabits,

The Blame Bush card doesn't work anymore with the American electorate, if it did Scott Brown would not have been elected to Ted Kennedy's seat.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

If the money was actually used to pay for healthcare I would be happy. But more than 50% of our tax money is used to pay for war. If we would just stop the wars everyone in the U.S. could have healthcare easily. The ProDebt/ProWar Libs and Repubs will not budge on this.

If the Federal Reserve was public or Gov I would be more happy. If our dollar was based on something that had worth I would be happy. I am against this form of "fiat debt slavery" that enslaves/terrorizes the U.S., Japan, and many other parts of the World -Libs need to explain themselves as to why they are pushing the fiat debt/slavery agenda.

I believe many Americans are trying to find answers to fix this broken system right now. -They don't believe the political lies and media anymore. (drive thru Detroit sometime -proof positive that real change needs to be made). It is hard to escape the truth when you open your eyes.

Also doesn't square with the facts Yabits about the Tea Party supporters and their educational background on average.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The Blame Bush card doesn't work anymore with the American electorate, if it did Scott Brown would not have been elected to Ted Kennedy's seat.

Ignorant and narrow-minded tea-baggers like to portray their obstacles as mountains when they are nothing more than molehills -- in order to puff their own sails with more hot air. The voters of "uber-liberal" Massachusetts are also the same ones who elected Republicans like William Weld and Mitt Romney to positions of government leadership. The fact that Kennedy was a living institution has blurred many a small mind to that reality.

If those who want to vote again for Republicans have such short memories, it makes their educational achievements, such as they may be, dubious in the extreme.

"You're fired!"

Oh my god... this woman is truly mentally unstable, if not just plain mentally challenged. It's rich to hear the woman who walked cowardly left her post in her first year on the job tell someone they're fired, and talk about 'crapshoots' and what not, when that's what every endeavor she's ever made is.

A woman famous for her utter stupidity. No wonder she has fans who are so 'like minded' in their idiocy. The tea-baggers are quite a funny lot.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Did she get paid again? There is a lawsuit against the Tea Party over her payment for her last speech?

Watching the republican party doubling down on this loser is like watching an alcoholic ordering a drink; sad but nothing can be done until they hit rock bottom.

I'm loving this. Pretty much everything Sarah Palin has left, joined or supported has failed. She quit her job, was hit by a slew of ethics scandals, has been caught abusing money given to her, and then - in the best thing she ever did for America - was instrumental in burying the GOP in 2008. Now, she's backing the Tea Party people. It's going to be the Palin Kiss of Death all over again, bring it on. :-)

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The Dems just needs to sit this little tea party phase out. Once Americans realise it's Hard Right Lite, it'll go the same way as everything else Sarah Palin has touched: south.

Keep appealing to the individualistic needs of the consumer, in regard to political wants / needs --especially in America-- and the Democrats will be OK. They need to start running campaign of commercials, billboards of people who benefit from the healthcare bill, saying, 'Thank you, America, because of you I have a new hip / heart (pun intended) / could keep all my fingers...' Many here don't seem to see that Obama plays a beautiful long game, he'll bring to the fore the dreams of Roosevelt yet. A fairer, more just, society. The 'green industry' drive being one of them, bringing us all together for a cause, because Reds under the bed, doesn't fly anymore. Clever, clever mass / individualistic engineering. She Pales In comparison and the needle is stuck deep in an old, tired groove the majority of people no longer like or wish to be identified with.

Could you clarify the mature and intellectual term 'Tea-Bagger' that you use to describe the Tea Party activists?

The self-description is available at www.teabagparty.org

sailwind quoted:

"Nearly three quarters of Tea Party activists attended college, compared to 54 percent of all Americans,

Where is this statistic from?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Mark my words. It is going to get out of hand. The Tea Baggers, which are actually sponsored by the Republican party, will not let it go. In a democracy, you cannot always get what you want. Mature people realize this and move on to win constituencies by having good ideas to win another day. Competing for the middle is what keeps the two party system stable. The Republicans are not even trying. Apparently, they are putting their eggs in the Kristallnacht basket. They will intimidate people into voting for them. Read histories of the rise of the Nazis. They won by making the country ungovernable and big business brought them in as a last ditch effort to get control.

What is happening is that the Republicans are just abandoning any constructive suggestions at all. They will fight every election contest with anger and hatred and fear. I am betting they will be chock full of lies too. What if they win those elections? Will they just scream epithets in congress? Palin says they will not sit down or shut up. I guess that means that they are not interested in listening anymore.

The bitterness at having lost a pretty minor skirmish here is amazing. The truth is far uglier, I am afraid. The bitterness is not about people getting access to healthcare. The bitterness is bigotry and fear and hatred. The rhetoric and imagery show it. Palin is putting targets on humans on her website. Who can see that it is just wrong? Reagan took a line from a Clint Eastwood movie, and Obama took a line from a Sean Connery movie to make a political point, but they were not talking about PEOPLE, they were talking about legislation. The Republican party has got to repudiate these murderer wannabes. The first person who gets killed by their violence should look to blame John McCain and Mitt Romney. They can stop this or dissociate it from their party, and they will not. They are whipping people up into a frenzy, and with all those guns, that is not good.

"Nearly three quarters of Tea Party activists attended college, compared to 54 percent of all Americans,"

Palin spoke at a rally in Searchlight NV, where Reid lives. If three quarters of her audience were college educated, I will eat my hat. If you are college educated, there is not much of a reason to hang around Searchlight. Unless you are a Senator, that is.

I can not find the exact story that gives the THREE QUARTERS figure. It might be a CNN Poll, but I cannot find it on their site. CNN Polls also show overwhelming support for cap and trade, so if Sailwind is willing to say that CNN Polls are valid, then he should be able to take the good with the bad. Hate to seem like an elitist, but it does not say that 74% graduated, just attended. If Palin is leading this group of quitters, that would seem apt.

A prediction brought by the same folks who predicted that Bush's massive tax cuts would provide boundless confidence and prosperity; predicted that once we invaded Iraq, significant quanitites of WMD would surely be found; and who more recently predicted that the health care bill was dead.

Well, the Bush Tax cuts were effective. Despite 9-11, the tax cuts prevented the economy from falling back into recession. The other stuff I'll give you, a lot of people did think the health care bill was dead. I myself despite believing Pelosi capable of a lot of things, didn't really believe they would be able to directly pass the Senate bill. But I don't feel bad about that. A lot of Dems in the house felt the same way.

Speedracer, I don't know where to start on your post. Its so very wrong, full of the kind of nonsensical allegations you commonly find in the loonie fringe on the left. When Republicans say something true, if it negatively reflects on the Dem party, it must be a lie. You claim Republicans are abandoning constructive suggestions, and claim that with what Palin says, they're not interested in listening anymore. Allow me to simply state, that its you, and the Dems who haven't been listening. Not to the Republicans, and not to the constituents back home. Republicans put forward lots of ideas. Ideas that were ignored. The fact that Republicans refuse to be silent over this, and other issues, doesn't mean they refuse to listen, in fact they've heard enough. Heard enough excuses for why they're being ignored.

The bitterness at having lost a pretty minor skirmish here is amazing.

So most people think that 1/6th of the US economy is actually a big deal. You say its a minor skirmish. Its interesting how you reference Nazis, since that is precisely the kind of government those on the right are trying to avoid.

Oh, and the Tea Party is not sponsored by the Republican party. If anything, it terrifies them more then the Democrats. They're afraid of a 1992 scenario, where a 3rd party is formed, and splits the vote, allowing a Dem into office.

Keep appealing to the individualistic needs of the consumer, in regard to political wants / needs --especially in America-- and the Democrats will be OK. They need to start running campaign of commercials, billboards of people who benefit from the healthcare bill, saying, 'Thank you, America, because of you I have a new hip / heart (pun intended) / could keep all my fingers...'

They should of course ignore those injured by it. Like the workers, and former workers from Caterpillar, and AT&T, who are losing benefits, and quite possibly coverage. And who may very well lose their jobs all because of Obamas Commiecare. And of course they should ignore the fact that congress, having passed this boondoggle, doesn't want this kind of health care for themselves. They have their own Cadillac plan, one that isn't taxed.

What happened to the GOP? Besides their members voting, the party doesn't seem to be in the news much. The Tea Party people are way more visible at the moment than the GOP, which only makes news when they obstruct yet another bill. And Sarah Palin? Besidess having completely unrealistic dreams of grandeur, she is proving she can rile the Left and bury the Right - at the same time. The commensurate multi-tasker! :-)

I know what socialism is, and I believe it truly is evil. This is how I view the system of government controls on the individual. The collectivist form of government where everyone benefits equally from the government, except for the Plutocrats who actually run things, they benefit much much more. However Sushi, since you want to claim how wonderful, and superior a form of government it is, please, by all means, share what your view of what socialism is, and why you think its better then say, Capitalism?

The original link that sailwind provided referred to a CNN poll:

http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2010/images/02/17/rel4b.pdf

"Tea Party activists" included any respondent that merely attended a rally (along with those who "took active steps to support" and "given money." So if you attended a rally out of curiosity you were included. Most interesting is that there were a total of 124 people making up the results.

124 people is a very small sample size for national statistics. Furthermore only 40% were college graduates. So you have to believe they were telling the truth and you have to believe that 124 people (who had phones) represent the totality of actual Tea Party Activists.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

WEll here is an even more revealing statistic , from the pollsters Rasmussen:

"The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 52 percent of U.S. voters believe the average member of the Tea Party movement has a better understanding of the issues facing America today than the average member of Congress. Only 30 percent believe that those in Congress have a better understanding of the key issues facing the nation."

That, if you are a supporter of the democrat party, has to hurt

If three quarters of her audience were college educated, I will eat my hat.

You sound like a mad-hatter - and I don't blame you. However you do not need to split atoms to figure out that the American populace is not happy with the Gov right now. Even Sarah Palin understands what Letterman and the other Libs do not. Common sense sometimes trumps education in situations like this and things should be understandable -that is the problem with ObamaCare --> nobody understood it and in fact Congress didn't even consider reading it (a common person would question that = tax payers are upset)

Next come the Show Trials

Wall Street Journal:

Yesterday ATT announced that it will be forced to make a $1 billion writedown due solely to the health bill, in what has become a wave of such corporate losses.

This wholesale destruction of wealth and capital came with more than ample warning. Turning over every couch cushion to make their new entitlement look affordable under Beltway accounting rules, Democrats decided to raise taxes on companies that do the public service of offering prescription drug benefits to their retirees instead of dumping them into Medicare. We and others warned this would lead to ATT-like results, but like so many other ObamaCare objections Democrats waved them off as self-serving or “political.”

Henry Waxman and House Democrats announced yesterday that they will haul these companies in for an April 21 hearing because their judgment “appears to conflict with independent analyses, which show that the new law will expand coverage and bring down costs.”

"the Tea Party is not sponsored by the Republican party."

Molenir. I want you to repeat that and make sure that you understand what you are saying here.

We disagree on most of these things I guess. I am not saying that these people are dangerous because they have problems with policy. I say they are dangerous because they are violent, hate spewing neanderthals. I did not ask you to respond to my words. I asked you to mark my words. You are responsible for hate. You foment hate because of a bill that will give people access to medical care. How does it feel? I know that gets in the way of your ideology, but those people will get tangible benefit. I think you have let your fear get the best of you. Do you really think that your conception of the way the world works justifies letting 30 million people rot and die? Hitler only had 6 million souls worth of hubris. You are really going for it, aren't you?

Please tell me one constructive idea that Palin gave at her speech. Anything? What are the baggers going to do for America? They seem to be like Al Qaeda. They talk about what is evil and wrong about people who are trying to build a world, but they have nothing to offer but death, hate, racism, and terror. What do the baggers offer? They want to repeal this legislation? They want to take health benefits from 30 million Americans? That will make America better? Palin wants to shoot Obama and reload? That is not a dialogue. That is a death threat. You support that?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The media's unhinged reaction to the Tea Party protests is pathetic. An example of this is CNN's non-coverage of the huge rally in Searchlight. Despite thousands in attendance in the home of the Democrat Majority Leader's hometown, this is how CNN described what was happening:

Hundreds of people, at least dozens of people - we haven’t gotten a count of how many people turned out there.

How will the media report the mid-term election rout in November when they refuse to honestly report the grassroots opposition to the Obama agenda?

Common sense sometimes trumps education in situations like this and things should be understandable -that is the problem with ObamaCare --> nobody understood it and in fact Congress didn't even consider reading it (a common person would question that = tax payers are upset)

Plenty of it is easy enough for me to understand. It provides new investment in training programs to increase the number of primary doctors, nurses, and public health professionals. It bans lifetime limits on insurance policies. It provides coverage to students up until their 27th birthday. These are now effective. In the future insurance companies will not be able to deny coverage for a preexisting condition and will not be able to boot someone off coverage for the expensive conditions when they are realized.

I can go on an on.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"The Republican National Committee is paying for signs and political buttons used by Tea Party groups — despite widespread disagreement among the conservative, grassroots activists on whether the movement should work to elect candidates within the Republican party or steer clear from it. The items, paid for by the RNC, were on full display at a Friday press conference of Tea Party activists in Washington. At the afternoon event at the Capitol Hill Suites, activists in town for the “Take the Town Halls to Washington” project passed out the red-white-and-blue buttons and signs emblazoned with the words “Listen to Me!”

Text at the bottom of the sign reads: “Paid for by the Republican National Committee.”

I attribute this to Fox and Friends. So the Republicans are paying for materials that the Tea Party is distributing. They are labelled that way too. But Molenir says no. The Tea Party is not sponsored by the Republican Party. If he says it, it must be true.

Acorn. I don't see your point. Inciting people to kill and reload weapons is what Palin does, but you say I am excitable and silly? I think you are vaguely trying to insult me, but you are missing the irony there. Why not come out and say it? You seem to believe that taking medical care from 30 million people is a good idea because... why? Because they are not you. A few more pennies in your pocket is worth throwing these people to the lions? Plenty of money for killing, but none for health care for 30 million Americans.

Meanwhile the same month in San Francisco there is an "anti-war" rally sponsored by the Left. The media ignores what is advocated and communicated at its rally because it would interfere with the decided party line that only those who would support someone like Palin could be offensive:

http://zombietime.com/sf_anti-war_rally_3-20-2010/

Out of curiousity I have attended rallies from all spectrums. I can say for certain that an anti-Tea Party protester who came to a Tea Party event would be treated much better, certainly subjected to much less abuse, than any average Tea Partier who showed up at a Leftist rally.

It's more of a Libertarian movement.

Perhaps gD has forgotten:

Tom Daschle failed to pay more than $100,000 in back taxes for perks he received as one of Washington's most relentless influence-peddlers -- that is, until he realized he might receive a job in the Obama administration;

Rep. Charles B. Rangel (D-N.Y.), the chairman of the supreme tax-writing body in the United States, the House Ways and Means Committee, was under investigation for, among other things, dodging taxes, and;

Obama's Treasury Secretary, Timothy F. Geithner, failed to pay taxes he owed. Now he runs the IRS. Take that, suckers.

So, why would anyone expect any democrat to understand taxes? They don't pay them until it becomes politically expedient to do so.

RR posted a quote of my comment but said nothing to refute it. RR still hasn't posted a source of a quotation he used earlier. So I will move on.

I wish the tour "which kicks off a 42-city bus tour that ends in Washington on April 15, tax day" were 420 cities by November. Also, be sure to bring your socialist signs and guns to every rally. The more we see of Sarah Palin the better, there may be one exception and that is McCain but the Tea Party was going after McCain for his "liberal views." If they lay off John via Sarah's orders he may win the primary. Other than that if the Tea Party and Sarah tour the country and yell socialism as much as they possibly can it will have an aggregate value of turning off many American voters.

I have said before that I expect to lose 25 seats or so in the House. That is average and is just historical politics. Actually, the voters usually don't turn out well for the party of the president; over the past 17 midterm elections, the president's party has lost an average 28 seats in the House, and an average 4 seats in the Senate.

I would be o.k. with a loss of 30 because that is just above average. If the Republicans win 40 or more seats then the victory will clearly be theirs. Of course if the 4 current vacancies are filled during the next election then the Dems can only afford to lose 35 seats.

I am betting that if the Tea Party stands up and yells a lot more after April 15 that we will not lose the house. So stand up and YELL!

Hitler only had 6 million souls worth of hubris. You are really going for it, aren't you?

Speedy. Theres just so much in your post thats so wrong, I don't even know where to start. But I guess I'll start with your unfounded, party line assertion that Tea Party protesters are 'violent' 'hate-spewing' 'neanderthals'. So, did you hear about Ann Coulter recently? She went to give a speech, and the 'peace and love' liberals were so enraged, that they threatened her, and her supporters with violence. Eventually the event had to be canceled. Contrast this with the Tea Party protests. They aren't forcing events to be canceled, they aren't trying to silence the opposition, using any means necessary. The wonderful lovable loons on the left do that. This is because the loons like yourself, are ok with free speech, provided the speech agrees with yours. Otherwise, its dangerous 'hate-filled' speech, and it must be silenced!

Regarding conservatives being responsible for hate. We react to the Dems ignoring their constituents, and point out how little they cared about what their constituents wanted, and somehow we're inciting hatred and violence? No, it is the Dems themselves who did this, who brought this on themselves. I don't condone violence, not by the left, or the right, but I can certainly recognize cause and effect when I see it.

Finally, your ludicrous assertion that left alone, 30 million people would die! Hitler only murdered 6 million people. I have only one question to ask you on the subject... Are you truly this stupid? The vast majority of those who will now be forced to buy insurance, are those who could afford it, but preferred not to. There are millions of Americans who couldn't afford it on their own, but through state and Federal programs already were. There are some who legitemately couldn't afford health care, because they made too much to qualify for the state health care programs, but not enough to be able to afford it on their own. This group though constituted a small minority, and many of them will not be aided by this. Contrast this with the many who will actively be hurt by this change. Those who have health care, but work for AT&T, or Caterpillar, who are going to be dumping their plans, because its no longer cost effective.

When it comes down to it, this was never about health care. The dems try to pretty it up, but it wasn't. If the Dems really cared about health care reform, they could have done a great deal to make it cheaper for all Americans, however this was not done. It was never their goal. This was always about control. They want people to become more dependant on government. They want a larger welfare class, dependent on government, and thus the Democrats. Thats always what they wanted. People to need them, to pass more pork. What Dems hate, is independent Americans. People who don't need, or want government assistance in their lives. It disproves the lies, that people need the government to take care of them. When what people really need, is the government to stay out of the way.

Getting back to your reference to Hitler. People bought into Hitlers lies. They believed he could save them, make their country better, great again. Oddly enough, the things he did, apart from turning against the Jews, look quite similar to Obamas programs. Hitler favored more government control, just as Obama does. So if you're going to compare the Tea Partiers with Hitler, at least recognize that what they're opposed to, is Hitler.

Amazing how this insignificant redneck from Alaska has become so omnipresent in American politics. It defines two things. 1. The low depths of quality to which our political life has sunken. 2. The decline in political intelligence in our country.

Palin, the reason we want you to sit down and shut up is that you have nothing of value to offer the political world. You are a side show to desperate party that has lost touch with itself and the American people. You have no more prayer of becoming president than I do. But if you did, it would finally prove my point that the deline of Rome and the decline of America are following similiar paths of division and the breakdown of common reason.

I love that. "Security concerns" Thats so hysterically funny. Go back and read the quoted comments about those who were there to shut down the speech. You'll see the threats. Oh, no one came out and said, we're gonna kill Ann Coulter, but its there. Oddly enough, about the same kind of threats against Republicans, one of whom had a bullet fired through his office window. Ah, but we're not supposed to talk about that. Its only supposed to be the Libs who betrayed their constituents that are threatened.

Palin, the reason we want you to sit down and shut up is that you have nothing of value to offer the political world.

Really, its not because you can't stand to see a successful conservative woman, espousing her ideals? Its not because you think that only those on the left should be permitted to speak? Your statement would be a lot more believable if you didn't start frothing at the mouth whenever Palin's name is mentioned.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Molenir. What exactly has Palin had to say that is of any value?

The sad thing about modern American politics is that it is so divided between two perceived poles of Left and Right. People you you, dear Molenir, fail to perceive that there is a political reality out there that cannot so easily be pigeonholed into your neat little bipolar political reality.

What I want to hear are politicians with something of value to say. None of the usual vote getting, corporate compliant, fear factor nonsense that has come to define our politics. No I actually want to hear tangible solutions to very real problems. Solutions that can be backed up with real verifiable facts, intelligent strategies for moving forward and solutions that are inclusive to assure that all strata of Americans are addressed.

Palin has never offered a single piece of tangible political value. She has never solved any real problems, never offered compelling solutions, never had an opinion that did not sound like a sound bite. And it is for this reason that I, and many others, dismiss her as the sound bite flavor of the moment.

What Americans need are real solutions to their problems. Jobs, community, education, health care, bringing their kids and spouses home from two wars abroad and helping to rebuild our economic society. Now when Palin starts having something significant to say about these topics, I and others won't dismiss her out of hand. But her current hysterical theatrics are worthy only of tabloids and blanket dismissal as the empty tripe they are.

Heres your link and they use the 'threating' and threat twice in one sentence. CBS news report by the way.

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2010/03/24/politics/main6328694.shtml

A protest by hundreds of students led organizers to cancel a Tuesday night speech by American conservative commentator Ann Coulter at the University of Ottawa.

A spokesman for the organizers said Coulter was advised against appearing after about 2,000 "threatening" students crowded the entrance to Marion Hall, posing a security threat.

Sit down and shut up! And like it!

What a joke sailwind!

A spokesman for the organizers said Coulter was advised against appearing after about 2,000 "threatening" students crowded the entrance to Marion Hall, posing a security threat.

Why didn't you include the statement by the conservative activist; maybe you were saving that one.

So 2,0000 students threatened her. ha ha! If that is what you are claiming "threatening" means. You can't have it both ways. The article said 2,000 "threatening" students.

You have to give Ann Coulter credit, she is really really good at being Ann Coulter. She played the situation like the professional self-promoter she is.

As for Palin, she and her crowd are just selling a fantasy with her anti-government, anti-spending routine. No American politician of either party is ever going to turn off the taps, because they would tank the economy, and nobody wants to be the one in power when that happens. That doesn't mean that they shouldn't, or that maybe just letting things crash, wiping out the banks, and starting over wouldn't be better in the long run. Just that they won't do it, and anybody who believes they will is being taken for a ride.

Obama and his wrecking crew can fudge the numbers at home but the rest of the world aint buyin. As in US T-notes. A very, very bad sign.

" The trigger for last week's sell-off was poor demand at Treasury auctions, linked to the passage of the Obama health care reform. Critics say it will add $1 trillion (£670bn) to America's debt over the next decade, a claim disputed fiercely by Democrats. "

Mission Accomplished.

"Sell-off in US Treasuries raises sovereign debt fears Investors are braced for a further sell-off in US Treasuries after dramatic moves last week raised fears that the surfeit of US government debt is starting to saturate bond markets."

What were the students threatening her with? Reality? Maybe intelligent arguments?

Come on, who would bother to hurt Palin? After all she is the best weapon non-GOP people have to assure that the GOP continues to look foolish. And she is very good at looking the part of the rabid neo-con.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

re "And she is very good at looking the part of the rabid neo-con."

Palin employs figures of speech like 'taking aim' and 'reloading',the Left tries to use their silly PC standards to paint her as dangerous.

Obama pals around with a man who bombed the Pentagon and the same people say it is nothing really.

Uh Oh, I was warned about Temper Tantrum Team. I did not heed the warning. Now I have to put up with the consequences.

Uh Oh, I was warned about Temper Tantrum Team.

Those 2000 angry mob protesters having a tantrum at Ann Coulter I presume?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Senator Acorn. And what about those of us who are neither left or right? Just how do you wish to pigeonhole our critique of Palin? Points for creativity provided.

Just so I am clear. Palin represents the dumbing down of American politics to the level of afternoon reality shows. Her political positions are largely expressed in sound bites and have never been laid out in any cohesive manner. Attempts by the media in interviews to define her positions have been met with more sound bites and have failed to shed light in any way.

What we do know of her politics seems to be largely based around neo-con notions that better resemble pep rally speeches than cohesive policy statements. It is here that her coloquial speech renders itself most useful in frightening the educated and substance based voters.

Abraham Lincoln was known for his coloquial style, but despite the critiques of his speaking style, his speeches invariably offered substantial insight to his belief systems, political platforms and ideologies. None of which were subject to random idoms or sound bite forms. So it is not Palin's "down home" quality that renders her worrisome. It is her wholesale lack of substance that makes here dangerous for American politics. She has the potential to rally the unclued to follow a cause that has pretty colors and nice slogans, but no solutions to very real American problems.

That should have been Team Temper Tantrum. My bad.

SIR, you have deliberately missed key points on your quoted report. The sell-off was triggered by OBAMACARE but this was just an excuse for a quick exit. The fact is growth has not been strong enough in the US. China effectively reduced its US bond holdings late 2009 to early 2010 ... And because of this JAPAN is now the largest sovereign holder of US T-bonds.

The trend is below par in fact that analysts don't even care about inflation right now. And to quote the US veep, this is a f%@en big deal!

And obama represents the triumph of that mentality.

Moderator: In order to keep the discussion at a high level and make it easier to read, please spell Obama's and all names with a capital letter.

Like I said there were never any threats against Ann Coulter; if there were Molenir would supply the link to the source. He has been caught making up stuff so many times now he doesn't even mind being exposed anymore. He just makes something else up to cover up.

goodDonkey, I never make stuff up. Well, unless I'm joking in response to something silly. (I have for example made up numbers in response to someone elses obviously made up numbers.) But since you've said this, please, find one thing I've made up. The one thing in your statement that was partially correct, is that I don't usually bother with links. I find it to be too much trouble to bother with them, for posters who will never share my own views, even when their own egregious errors are pointed out. Thank you Sailwind for providing a link there.

So, now that a link has been provided, proving again my pov, and now that you've had a chance to look at my previous posts, care to retract your statement about me making stuff up? Or should I simply classify this as more hyperbole from an idiot?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

SenatorAcorn. "And obama represents the triumph of that mentality."

Care to define how?

Obama entered the political scene with tangible solutions to real problems. He has worked very hard to achieve those objectives despite the blockades put up by the sore losers in the GOP who seem to care more for their corporate friends than for their working class constituents.

Look to me the GOP and the DEMs are two shades of the same beige fabric. The key differences between the parties are typically negligible. However, Obama came into office with a mandate for change. One voted in by the people. Yet both parties seem to have quickly forgotten that fact. The GOP worried about re-election and their corporate donors and the Dems unable to keep to their mandate script.

Were it up to me there would be at least a third party to help keep the two honest with a little healthy competition. But then again it may render the average American voter into "Cerial isle comas" where deciding becomes just to entrancing and nothing gets done.

I do know this much. Palin has never offered a real solution to any national problem, though she has done a lot of idom slinging and posturing. Obama has gone out and done something about one problem, health care, and has at least been very clear about his policies.

Get Palin to make a coherent speech with some clearly defined ideas and I will give the lady a chance. But if I want cheerleaders and pep rallies I will simply remember high school instead. The remembered images were far less disturbing than watching Sarah Palin froth like a rabid neo-con.

Can someone please explain to me the legitimate reason why the Republicans and some Americans are against the Health Care Bill? I for one am completely relieved to be receiving the same kind of basic needs as I do now in Japan. Obama did an amazing job of saving millions of people bankrupting from their mounting medical bills.

We're broke and can't afford for starters?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

We're broke and can't afford for starters?

Then take the billions we're wasting in Iraq and put that toward Health Care for Americans.

That was easy.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Then take the billions we're wasting in Iraq and put that toward Health Care for Americans.

You mean, have the government spend the money they taxed from Americans, and spend it on some Americans, but not all Americans? IE Redistribution of wealth? You'd fit in well down in Castro's Cuba.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"Then take the billions we're wasting in Iraq and put that toward Health Care for Americans."

That's what I've been trying to get out of the radical right for some time, only not one has stepped up to answer the question. Iraq deserves gazillion's of US tax-dollars because Saddam sodomized incubator babies with WMD's, but un-fortunate or dare I say it in some cases under-achieving fallow Americans should be denied human rights?

Heh, but seriously I'm glad "Sarah" is refusing to fade after quitting her job as governor. Between here and now there is going to be some prime fodder for comedians world-over and those of us not shrieking from either extreme will think opf the scary propspect of someone so clearly inept actually being elected by a screaming posse of tantruming idiots armed with the right to vote.

Palin is after all to these old, white Republicans what Pamela Anderson was back in the early 90's to fathers pretending to watch Baywatch to spend time with the kids. Get a life and turn the volume UP fella's. Heh, the woman's a crank!!

That would come in the form of budget cuts to the military. Navy and Air Force ranks hardest hit.

Palin has American public opinion on her side. What the rest of the world might think doesnt matter to us.

"One week after the House of Representatives passed the health care plan proposed by President Obama and congressional Democrats, 54 percent of the nation's likely voters still favor repealing the new law. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey shows that 42 percent oppose repeal."

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Palin is against American public opinion. What the rest of the world might think is only unimportant to the ever-diminshing minority of right-wingnuts.

According to the poll, 47 percent agree with the Republican strategy and want Congress to repeal most of the major provisions in the bill and replace them with completely new proposals. But 50 percent are fine with the current law or want Congress to go back and pass something that would increase the government's involvement in health care even further.

Yep, Dem talking points, where they promote the good, and ignore the bad, do have some effect don't they. Of course the latest news about AT&T and others, having to report massive losses because of the health care bill will be changing a lot of minds as well.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

You mean, have the government spend the money they taxed from Americans, and spend it on some Americans, but not all Americans? IE Redistribution of wealth?

Well that is how the banking industry works. If it is good enough for them, why isn't it good enough for the health care industry?

By the way, the money will not be spent on "some" Americans. Last I checked every American is going to get sick, or have an accident, and die. You can pay when they get insurance or you can pay when they show up at the emergency ward. You are still going to pay.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

You are still going to pay.

Oh? How interesting. So despite the fact that most Americans can, and could infact afford health insurance, we're going to pay for them. Sorry, but thats not the way the system works. Although under commiecare, it very well be the case.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Molenir - "Commiecare"? Stay classy there, man.

How about this as a compromise: You can either have your tax dollars spent to help re-build Iraq or you can have them spent on providing Americans (i.e. our own) much-needed health care.

I opt for "B", but then that's just the Patriot in me.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I'd opt for C myself, reduce the damn deficit.

No, but team temper tantrum is going to tell you all to sit down and shut up come election time.

That's what I'm looking forward to. Watching team temper tantrum eat their crazy step-sister and then watching the crazy step-sister blame Obama because that's all it knows.

I may have to buy a DVR just for the event.

Americans: Comie care, really? Those Americans who even suggest that these reforms are 'Communist' are misinformed and ignorant! Stupid, in fact.

What in any way, does government subsidized healthcare, have anything to do with a Communist system?

It is evident, after the dust has settled, how misinformed and downright, ignorant, so many Americans are. Bad schooling + no healthcare + distortion/overly emotional = misinformed Americans = not global leaders.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

No, but team temper tantrum is going to tell you all to sit down and shut up come election time.

They've been saying that for years. Ever since they took control of congress in 2006. So whats new?

The Tea Party is more aptly named the Disgruntled White People's Party.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Ms. Palin tells tea party: 'We're not going to sit down, shut up.'

Ms. Palin was in the perfect position to "stand up and say something."

Then she quit her job. Awfully un-American from this Patriot's standpoint and not too bright to boot.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Ms. Palin was in the perfect position to "stand up and say something."

Ok, I agree she shouldn't have quit her job. Having said that, she was Governor of Alaska. Thats the perfect position to "stand up and say something?" Don't think so. If anything, her current position is much more suited to doing that, then being the Governor of a far flung state like Alaska.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Molenir,

What is Ms. Palin's current position?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Poor dear molenir,

You are really misguided if you think it's the Democrats that are going to be the ones that are so mean they make sarah cry all over her keyboard complaining on Facebook come election time. It'll come from the team temper tantrum establishment in the primaries.

That's what makes it so funny. She'll be undone by her own party, but out of force of habit, will blame Pres. Obama (sharp as a bowling ball, that girl is).

Er, you keep mentioning the Democrats Team Temper Tantrum, its a nonsensical reference, perhaps you ought to clarify this. Are you a member of the Democrats whine team too?

Regarding what you said. I don't think Palin will be complaining, or crying come election time. If anything, I think she'll be very excited. The Democrats however will be ranging from mildy disappointed, to bawling in anguish over losing the house, and though in my mind a longshot, possibly the Senate. I know I am looking forward to the retirement of the Dems 2 congressional leaders. Pelosi who will no longer be Speaker, and 'Dirty' Harry who will be retiring from the Senate after November. A retirement, that is well overdue, and much deserved.

What is Ms. Palin's current position?

She only holds one official position, that is commentator on Fox News. However her influence is far greater then if she had remained merely the Governor of Alaska. We wouldn't still be talking about her otherwise.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I don't know if it is true that Ms. Palin would no longer be in the public eye if she had not turn her back on the people of Alaska. Granted, she wouldn't have a job at Fox to promote her agenda. She would still be the most recent vice-presidential nominee of the Republican Party and the Govenor of a state. More importantly, her position offered her insider's access. While she receives more publicity now, I do not think she is in a better place to affect change. I believe we will have to agree to disagree. Which brings me to another point. Are news commentators supposed to be promoting a political agenda? I really believe the answer is no.

Very un-American.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

molenir,

Seriously, I hope you are still around these threads the next time sarah palin runs for election.

Watching you watch your poor pitiful sarah get her butt handed to her in the primaries is going to be hysterical.

I already know some of your excuses:

the media asked her hard questions

Liberals ganged up on her

her staff turned on her

People are mean

She couldn't hold her debates on Facebook

etc.

She's just like bush. It's always someone else's fault and for that, I just cannot tolerate that trash.

Get a load of this:

A coalition of the leading tea party (teabagger) movement organizations today issued joint statement of gratitude to President Barack Obama for the tax cuts received by over 95% of working American households. In a dramatic reversal of recent rhetoric, spokesmen for Tea (bagger) Party Nation, Tea (bagger) Party Express, the National Tea (bagger) Party Convention, Tea (bagger) Party Patriots and other affiliated freedom-loving groups also announced that President Obama wasn't a socialist, a Muslim or the Anti-Christ.

Holy Cow! That makes the lot that hang out here the fringe element of the fringe element!

Gee, weren't trying to be the world police and eroding the Constitution liberal ideals? Seems liberal is now the new extreme right. Hypocrites, all of them.

it's time for these tea-baggers to go home. Maybe their future generations will understand what just happened.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

However her influence is far greater then if she had remained merely the Governor of Alaska. [emphasis mine]

But but but, wasn't it the right-wingnuts crowd who swore that Palin's (later aborted) governorship made her MORE qualified than Obama to be POTUS? Now what was it they called it...? Oh yeah! "Executive experience". But NOW, it's a "mere governorship".

Molenir and his ilk simply want to hate Obama. It's a damn good thing America doesn't take the same view.
