Trying to get everyone on board with a 3.5 trillion dollar spending package does seem like trying to flush 3.5 elephants down a toilet.

Much easier surely to pick the bits people agree on in small chunks and do those first.

It’s called prioritization, but I guess common sense approach’s don’t work in central planning politics.

Imagine going on a spending spree like the Republicans did under the former guy , and then refusing to pay the bills, jeopardizing the entire economy and our world economic standing. That’s what McConnell is doing.

1 ( +5 / -4 )

The national debt has risen by almost $7.8 trillion during the former guy’s time in office. That’s nearly twice as much as what Americans owe on student loans, car loans, credit cards and every other type of debt other than mortgages, combined, according to data from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. It amounts to about $23,500 in new federal debt for every person in the country.

The people who enabled this unprecedented spending now take issue with spending to improve the infrastructure!!!

Opposition hopes the package does not materialize while they’re not in the White House. As soon as the administration changes, they’ll push for the same projects to take credit.

This package, will be spent over a 10 year period

Right wing folks looking on, helpless... don't get too excited at the internecine conflict. It's just the process.. Once the bill is on the floor it can be amended ad infinitum as agreements are made, until it passes.

“It’s a big giveaway to the wealthy, it’s a laundry list of agenda items pulled right out of the Bernie Sanders socialist playbook.”

Yeah, sure. Textbook socialism /s. What an idiot.

US economy about to go down the toilet. Government can do nothing else but print and spend. Until they cant any more

Looks like Manchin and Sinema are getting more help. Good to see some people coming to their senses to stop this madness. Some Dems do actually have a conscious.

Democratic Rep. Scott Peters (Calif.) (what????) joined Republicans in voting against advancing his party's $3.5 trillion social spending plan, as House leadership aims to vote on the package as early as next week.

Peters, a member of the House Budget Committee, voted with 16 Republicans against advancing the measure from the panel on the Saturday afternoon.

The Left will fundamentally transform America- by hook or by crook if necessary. It’s what they have been doing since President Wilson watched the premiere showing of Birth of a Nation in the White House. The “moderates” are putting on a show to pretend they aren’t Socialist but when it’s crunch time, they will be there for Pelosi and Schumer.

-4 ( +3 / -7 )

Wolfpack, how long do you think the "hook and crook" show will go on?

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

The AP, running interference for the Democrats as usual, refers to this not as "an annual budget reconciliation bill" but euphemistically as "a 10 year investment plan?" lol. That's rich. Guess what you'll get to see from these very same Dems next year? Yes, another annual budget spending bill! And do you think that spending will be LOWER than this bill? Do you really?? Based on what past precedents, again?

You're being connect by the Word Spinners. And many of you want to be conned.

As for all the petty excuses for this travesty of a budget? Let's balance that out. The VAST majority of spending from the last four years was in the very last year, 2020. That's right, more increase in spending in the final year 2020 than as a total in 2017-19. The period from 2017-2019 saw deficits on a PAR with Obama's.

Anyone want to guess why that was? Just...try and guess what happened in 2020. Oh, and who were running the House back then, again? Was it "all GOP, all the time?" Nah. (Just putting some facts out there other people, and "journalists", seem content to fudge.) Also, how much of that massive spike in 2020 spending was explicitly for the COVID emergency?

Nevertheless, here comes budget spending ABOVE the 2020 amount of spending (the actual spending in this budget amounts not to 3.5 trillion, but 4.366 Trillion, according to the Democrats' plan itself! Zero mention of that from the AP...because of course not.) And this budget is not the end of spending "for 10 years", naturally: you'll get to see it done again, next year (The Democrats helpfully raised the debt ceiling for for themselves for this year...and the next, too.)

And then there's the massive, massive NEW TAXES...and then there's the accompanying INFLATION...and then there's the new slew of JOB DISINSENTIVES...

Truly, to rely on AP for "news" is about a big a travesty as is this "budget!"

It’s what they have been doing since President Wilson watched the premiere showing of Birth of a Nation in the White House.

What does being a racist have to do with the National Debt. The GOP has taken over where Wilson left off.

The “moderates” are putting on a show to pretend they aren’t Socialist but when it’s crunch time, they will be there for Pelosi and Schumer.

I imagine the former guy wasn’t a socialist but the debt ballooned under him.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

National Debt 2017 was $19.9 trillion. National Debt 2020 was $26.9 trillion. An increase of $7 trillion in Trump's first term.

Give this administration 3 more years to surpass it.

What does being a racist have to do with the National Debt. The GOP has taken over where Wilson left off.

No, they didn’t, not one single black community in the US can blame their social economic situation on the GOP, not one community, the majority of black and brown people support the Democrats and their policies, the very same policies that continues to hold them financially and socially down. They vote for this spending spree but they won’t see anything from this money.

No, they didn’t, not one single black community in the US can blame their social economic situation on the GOP, not one community, the majority of black and brown people support the Democrats and their policies, the very same policies that continues to hold them financially and socially down.

Sir the depth of your intellect is amazing.

Except that the GOP continuously follows policies which bring about hardship to the poor many of whom are minorities.

Universal healthcare, minimum wages, voting rights…. we can go on and on but the GOP has done everything to make life for the minorities difficult!,,

Give this administration 3 more years to surpass it.

Sir that is one field we declare the former guy a winner.

He might be losing again and again but in field of increasing national debt he is far far ahead of others!!!

4 ( +6 / -2 )

Give this administration 3 more years to surpass it.

And dear sir, I wouldn’t suggest looking too far into the future, a lot of people from the old administration will be in prison there!!!

Except that the GOP continuously follows policies which bring about hardship to the poor many of whom are minorities.

Again, 60 years and most minorities black and brown people vote overwhelmingly Democrat, live in Democratically controlled and run cities, the GOP has nothing to do with the social and economic choices that these people make.

Universal healthcare, minimum wages, voting rights….

Universal healthcare is something that the GOP knows is financially impossible for this growing nation, at the same time, why not focus on the 22 plus million that don’t have insurance why try and take apart my employee insurance that’s private that 83% of Americans are satisfied with? As for minimum pay raises, a lot are doing that now and a lot are cutting back on hiring and raising the prices of service and finally some are just closing up or relocating to a more small business and an economically safer and less restrictive and greedy state and lastly, no ones votings rights are violated unless you don’t have proper ID but now since many don’t, you can now use your social security number, so now Dems don’t have to worry about anything. If you don’t want to carry your DL then use your SSN quick, easy and painless.

we can go on and on but the GOP has done everything to make life for the minorities difficult!,,

They have not because every single minority city is run by Democrats and you can see the results in schools, leadership and standard of living. I’m just glad that we now have 3 Democrats with some sense to block all of this crazy spending.

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

And dear sir, I wouldn’t suggest looking too far into the future,

I think we can unless the VP gets the position, neither side wants that so Biden it is.

a lot of people from the old administration will be in prison there!!!

Yeah, that was tried and tried, never will happen.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

I expect you always say that but the National Debt under Buden, so far, is less than $800 billion for 8 months.

It won’t stay like that, give me a break! As if this administration will just stop using money, of course it will surpass everything what Trump did. Give it 3 years especially if he wants to get the things done he’s trying to do.

But you ever posted against Trump spending regardless of the cost.

I wanted Trump to spend more on the military, that’s true. I feel a lot better and safer with a powerful and beefed up and modernized US lethal fighting force. But our adversaries love a dovish Biden and what he’s doing could not make the Chinese and Russians happier.

Like $1 trillion tax cuts for the rich.*

So how are the rich doing under this President, lol

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

No, they didn’t, not one single black community in the US can blame their social economic situation on the GOP, not one community,

Quite a claim. “Not one”. Wow.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

40 million Americans can not afford healthcare.

That means another 210 million can, so you don’t need to touch or take away my personal employment healthcare insurance.

You would say that even though it won't be true.

Oh, it’s sadly very true.

Well then support Biden because he increased military spending, more than Trump. Another true fact.

No, he won’t, he would never and he destroyed the trust of the military overwhelmingly, but that’s for a different thread.
