Gaming is good, but online gaming i.e. gambling is bad.

of course you're only going to hear 'praise' for such draconian government regulations from inside china.
Mr Kipling
The anti-China crowd are out already... Even when China does something obviously good, it is criticized.
I can only imagine the outrage if China developed a cure for cancer.

if children plays too much games, maybe parents should actually try parenting.
this is just another form of controlling the already sheepified chinese population by the ccp. you cannot believe anything they say. this praise is doctored.

Yeah, right.
How far would a parent that said "I think that is for me to decide" get?
Better to virtue signal, than to protest?
So what happens now, double down on chores/homework,
or will these same parents actually spend more time with their kids?
OssanAmerica
Doubt any parents could honestly express their opinion, if they happened to disagree.

Yes, the parents praise it, otherwise their online time will soon be limited too. lol And of course, there’s no benefit at all for the mental health of China’s children, when online gaming time is just only replaced by more of CCP and Xi propaganda and communist brainwashing, in contrary, they’ll end up much more damaged than with playing online smartphone games some longer.

The upper echalons of the CCP are the smartest, most forward looking capitalists on the planet. Marx's basic analysis can't be avoided even for them and they know but they'll make the (relatively speaking) 'good times' last much longer than Japan, Western Europe and North America managed.
But in the end, stagnation, declining living standards and escalating social crisis is inevitable.

The safe and highly effective coronavirus vaccine from Russia drives them crazy with anger and despair.

@Rob: You come across as short messaging but very on topic and knowledgeable

Your analysis a more than a little off. China has never had the level of prosperity common to the US and EU, or Taiwan and Japan. A third of the country remains mired in grinding rural poverty and even in the cities life is not all that grand. Having to walk up 7 or 8 flights of stairs to your non airconditioned tiny one bedroom flat shared with your daughter and her son after walking and riding a crowded bus to and from work, having to walk to all the little shops to buy food and supplies then drag them up those stairs (no elevator in the building) is not living large. That's my brother in law in Shanghai. Momma lives in a similar building but has a bottom floor flat shared with a nephew. It's crowded and dirty. If history is a guide, all of the aforementioned governments (US, EU, Japan and even Taiwan) will be around and their people prospering long after the CCP has been swept away by a Chinese people angry at their malfeasance.

How many negative comments about the new laws are there on Chinese media?
Answer: 0. It is illegal to criticize laws.
I'm not against the law, but this seems like govt overreach and the companies should have parental controls where the parent can decide which games and how long they can be play for their child, not a blanket 90min/daily.
As a parent, I'd want 90 min on Friday - after 6pm until Sunday noon allowed and perhaps 10 minutes each other day. Some games, I wouldn't want allowed at all.
The govt cannot do what is needed, and seldom can, when it comes to raising children. That's why we have "parents."
