In Japan that would have got her maybe 3 years. Malaysia she could have been hanged. Las vegas she gets a slap on the wrist.

But why?, she has a record, just recently got a staff member to accept her crime in SA, and she is still out getting loaded. This just proves there are two sets of rules. One for them, and one for the rest of us.

DXXJP: "In Japan that would have got her maybe 3 years. Malaysia she could have been hanged. Las vegas she gets a slap on the wrist."

Are you kidding? In Japan it would have gotten her a suspended sentence, which is essentially the same thing as this 'parole'. She's a super-rich socialite, and in Japan probably would have had a bunch of dopey-eyed fans waiting outside the courtroom and saying, "Ganbare!" even. As it is it's ridiculous enough. No one else would get the breaks she's getting (well, no one who's not rich like she is).

“If she is arrested for anything besides a minor traffic violation she will spend a year in jail,” Roger said. “There will be no discussion. The court will have no discretion.”

Sure, Roger. Thing is, next time she's arrested, likely within the month, she'll just pay off a friend to take the rap again.

"( In ) Malaysia she could have been hanged"

For .8 grams of coke. Good grief, what would you get for robbery?

Drugs are SERIOUS BUSINESS is SE Asia. You do not want to be caught with them there.

There needs to be only one law in the land. Not one for the rich and one for the not rich. She really needs to be slapped down hard.

I'm not sure how Malaysia got thrown in as the comparative country, but no one there gets executed for possession of less than 1 gram of cocaine for personal use.

We have all seen what happens to the local talento when they are caught with minuscule amounts. A Brit was arrested and served 6 months for a poppy seed off a dinner roll in Dubai.

Here are the SA penalties for drugs http://goseasia.about.com/od/travelplanning/a/seasia_drugs.htm

She should get one year probation and be forced to pay a $2,000 dollar fine. Whoops, that is what happened.

Seriously folks... do you think any normal person would be sent of to jail for .8 grams of blow? What a bloody waste of tax-payer money it would be if everyone caught with a tiny bit of substance was sent to jail. Come on people, the War on Drugs was lost decades ago.

And for the record, unless we're talking about One Night in Paris, I am not a fan of this woman.

Looks like she will have a Busy year.

1.) Drug counceling. 2.) 200hrs of Community Service.

Hope she behaves on her "Business" Trip to Japan.

I agree with others tired of hearing about her.

Another female celebrity getting her butt kissed by the justice system. < :-)

I think a lot of people have it backwards. Had she been an ordinary citizen and as long as she wasn't visibly wasted the cop probably would have looked the other way. Business is waaaay down in Vegas...

Ooops, she might not have much fun in Japan, etc.

Looks like she ran into Immigrations upon arriving in Japan:

Not sure if she will have better luck in the other countries on her trip.
