Vote to ban, not surprising, they're very uncouth in pedestrian Paris, not to mention not every rider have the skills of Lewis Hamilton in order to dodge and weave through the crottes de chien minefield.

"In my work, we see a lot of road accidents caused by scooters, so we really see the negative effects," general physician Audrey Cordier, 38, told Reuters after voting against the scooters.

Scooters and skateboards seem to have better situational awareness than the bicycles seen in Japan.

I wonder how many would vote to ban the careening mama-charis from the sidewalks and intersections of Japan?

Cycling should be next. Get the Lyra wearing demon once that believes itself exempt from the highway code banned from the road!

What this article does not say is that the participation rate was only 8%. So the result is pretty meaningless even though scoters will be banned based on its result..

Petrol is better. Makes winter weather warmer.

They look like fun, wheeee!

I wish we could ban them in London. A menace to pedestrians.

Set a speed limit and don't allow them on sidewalks. Give the law some teeth like other laws have, but banning isn't write.

I may never use a scooter and I don't want them on sidewalks with walkers or joggers, but if they are used like bicycles on the street and follow the same laws that a bicycle is required to follow, I don't see the harm.

People need to be free to choose.

to ban electric scooters from the streets

No. Only the "self-service" ones that any idiot can rent in 15 seconds with a smart phone for roughly 1 euro, and just drop anywhere 5 to 10 minutes later. That never was a good idea.

Set a speed limit and don't allow them on sidewalks.

They go at 25 km/h (motor limit). There exist very clear rules that most users choose to ignore.
