Bob Fosse
“In 2001, as America reeled from the September 11 attacks, Robertson endorsed the view that tolerance for lesbians, gays and doctors carrying out abortions had drawn God's wrath on the country.
And last year, he said Russian President Vladimir Putin was "compelled by God" to attack Ukraine, because it was predicted in the Book of Ezekiel as a step toward the end of times.”
What a jerk. If there’s a heaven he ain’t in it.
dagon
He is gone but the complex of tax free religious programming, mega-churches and prosperity gospel evangelism continues to be a powerful regressive force on American society and political economy.
There is no Republican Party, or A Trump, without evangelicals.

From the guy who never saw a Conspiracy he couldn’t monetize, came “the Illuminati” and god knows how much other bat-feces crazy garbage.
He created the space in which QAnon, a conspiracy so stupid that only the truly deranged could believe it, could be acceptable for a sizable portion of one of previously two major political parties (now a cult of personality) to believe it.
Thanks Pat. I hope the good lord is more forgiving of human fallibility than you were.
Because the unforgiving, hateful God that you espoused is reaching for the trap door at the pearly gates about now.

Well, there will be a little less religious extremist hate in the world...
bass4funk
100% wrong.
The deity is definitely all forgiving especially towards fallible people with good and noble intentions.
bass4funk
Utter nonsense

A sick evil man now rotting in hell.

Prove it.

Ah_so
Glad to see the back of this religious cultist, but the harm that he and fellow travellers have done lives on. The Christian nationalists with their bastardised interpretation of the their bronze age religious texts lives on, stronger than ever.
bass4funk
Easy, you think every single Republican or conservative is an evangelical? If you think that then you are gullible. Being conservative doesn’t mean you have to be religious, but being traditional, having common sense knowing right from wrong understanding rules, laws act of conduct love of country and the right to pursue religion or worship as you choose, live as you choose, protecting our National sovereignty, the right to bear arms, putting the nation, the needs of its people first and foremost.
He killed someone? He was a convicted criminal?
lincolnman
Just one of the many far-right hucksters that has used religion to hustle and fleece the uneducated masses...
Read some of the hateful things he said and its clear he was a Christian in name only - one who preached racism, misogyny, division and intolerance...very un-Christian values...
He's going to have a real problem when he shows up at the Pearly Gates..
Bob Fosse
“live as you choose,”
American conservatives seem to have the most trouble with that concept.
Why is it that those who shout ‘freedom’ the loudest are usually most critical of others’ lifestyles?
dagon
This is one of the problems with religion in politics as they don't do logic.
There was no assertion that the set of people who are evangelical or Republican exactly overlap.
And gullibility is a characteristic of the religiously inclined.

Bigoted Christian television host who spent years regaling the political right with racist, sexist, anti-gay, and otherwise hateful rhetoric.
A tirade claiming Haitians had suffered a deadly earthquake after they “swore a pact to the devil” while overthrowing their French oppressors centuries earlier, along with a torrent of homophobia.

Trump indicted?
NOMINATION
Why is it that the American liberals cheer the loudest when someone they disagree with or hate their opinion dies? That's the "tolerant left" wrapped up in a nutshell.
Bob Fosse
Maybe an American liberal will answer you. But I’ll try anyway. He was an evil hate filled man. He will not be missed. I didn’t cheer, sorry.
Blacklabel
of course thats the best picture the liberal media could find of the man too.
EFD
I went to Catholic school and I cheered!
He was the antithesis of everything the Nuns taught me about Christianity: Mercy, Works, Humility, Forgiveness.
He was a holier-than-thou, vengeful, hateful man who played a Christian on TV for financial benefit.
As for "Cheering his death", I read a good quote. "I don't celebrate a death, but I do love a good obituary."
So too with Pat.
EFD
America wouldn't have had to endure Trump (who was JUST indicted for federal felonies, BTW) without this fake Christian grifter.

Blaming natural disasters on divine punishment: Robertson has made remarks suggesting that natural disasters such as hurricanes, earthquakes, and terrorist attacks were the result of God's judgment or punishment for societal sins or actions. These statements have been met with significant backlash and criticism.
Offensive comments about LGBTQ+ individuals: Robertson has made derogatory and insensitive remarks about the LGBTQ+ community, including equating homosexuality with immorality and suggesting that it leads to the spread of diseases.
Islamophobic statements: Robertson has made inflammatory comments about Islam, portraying it in a negative light and making sweeping generalizations about Muslims.
Remarks about feminism: He has expressed views that are considered by some as dismissive or degrading towards women, including suggesting that feminism encourages women to "kill their children" and that the feminist movement seeks to destroy families.

As if either of you knew who he was before you read a 75 word blurb about him this morning.
EFD
You seem to want to imply that your ignorance on world events is equally applicable to others.
Pat's hatred and hypocrisy has been well-known to the moderately well-read since the 80s.
It would be a mistake to assume that just because you have no clue, others are equally ignorant of current and world events.
u_s__reamer
Few tears will be shed by real Christians for this grifting "Anti-Christ" the Bible warns about. Sadly, these whack-a-mole preachers are impossible to exorcise given the gullibility that enriches them.
wallace
Pat Robertson is a character well-known for many decades.
bass4funk
To maybe it doesn’t, but to 120 million it does.
They More or less do, but again, you don’t need to be a religious worshipper to be a conservative.
Gullible? Now that’s funny coming from libs
Fighto!
"I just need each and every one of you to send in $50 to help build the house of God..."
No thanks.
Jimizo
A great example of why religion must be kept out of politics.
I think even conspiracy theorists would raise eyebrows at that one.
EFD
Patty-cakes can save a spot next to him in Hell for Trump.
Given what Jack Smith is about to subject him to, Hell might be a welcome respite, lol.
