Sarah Palin does lack experience with only two years experience as a Govenor and the rest as a small time Mayor. Barack Obama has more experience than Abraham Lincoln had as a candidate. My point is not to criticize her but I believe it does make any point McCain makes about inexperience moot. After all he is responsible for picking a candidate that can be president immediately if something should happen to him.

I think it was a very smart choice and it will give many disgruntled Hillary supporters pause to consider supporting. Palin in lieu of McCain if you will. It provides the outlet to vicariously support a woman through a vote for McCain. It may work. That is the only way McCain can win this election; by obtaining some of the Hillary contingent through spite.

What do I think? I think it was his only real choice, honestly. How can the GOP paint Obama as inexperienced and go with Jindal? How can the GOP use Joe Biden's words against Obama and then go with Romney? And the idea of POW/9-11 '08 is enough, I think, to even make you laugh. So...I believe Pawlenty is the best choice he could have made. Minnesota is traditionally blue (although more red of late, which is reflected in Minnesota's Morgan/Quinto ratings) and this could give McCain a swing state. As for Pawlenty himself, he's not too bad a guy, he is Minnesotan after all. However, he made a campaign spending cap pledge during his re-election campaign with MN AG Mike Hatch. When things were too close to call at the very end, he broke that pledge in order to buy TV time to spread a lot of lies about Hatch at the end.

I was less than impressed.

All in all, I still like him a lot more than the other names floated however.
