It would take some guts to stand up to these Neanderthals.
Let’s hope that in time this younger generation can realize that religion must be kept out of politics if you want to live in a decent society.
JenniSchiebel
That actually depends on the religion. Equating all religions in the world to the version practiced by the Taliban is illogical.
It makes no more sense to lump all religions together as one, than it does to lump all mammals together as one. There are all sorts of mammals, some of which are fine around humans and some that aren't.
Raw Beer
The Quran, Bible, and Torah can be very benficial to achieving a moral society. But all three religions have unfortunately been abused by evil scum to achieve selfish goals. It is not the religions themselves that bad.

As U.S. troops prepare to leave Afghanistan, opening the door for a potential Taliban comeback
Years ago when this whole sorry affair kicked off, a Taliban leader has a simple line to sum up the long game;
"The Americans have the watches, but we have the time."
Gary

I have not doubt that the Taliban will take back control. Anyone who wants to live free of their tyranny needs to get out now.

Abandon the Kurds.
Betray the Ukrainians.
Leave the Afghanis in the lurch.
Me thinks I see a pattern.

Trump knows nothing about the Taliban because he has zero interest in Afghanistan, and this so-called peace deal has been hastily cobbled together just to grab some more image-boosting headlines to distract from his utter incompetence as president. Trump may think he's finished with the Taliban, but they may come back to haunt him putting another stain on his lamentable legacy.
Tom
I don’t think any man cries when he hears the word Taliban. Ridiculous
Jimizo
This is the point. They come from a very different moral universe. They are not evil, they are understandably primitive and reflective of a more backward society. They can’t be moral guides in the the 21st century.
By the way, good to read you here after the op. Stay well mate.

You should be thankful you have lived a sheltered life. And be more considerate of those who haven't.
Numan
@Reamer
Yes, Trump does! He has watched 8 seasons of "Homeland". Nobody knows about the Taliban than Trump (sarcasm).
It is how Trump runs his bankrupt businesses. No surprises at all!
Madverts
Trump's re-election campaign is more important than the Taliban returning to power in Afghanistan...(and back to public stonings sometime '21)
ClippetyClop
Trump isn't in it, so he won't watch it. And season 8 is only up to episode 3 so far. Can't argue with the rest of your post though.
Numan
Yeah, you are right! He has only watched season 8. He is taking his cues for Afghanistan from 3 episodes!
Numan
Same thing happened on "Homeland"!
theFu
No doubt forced into it by the male members of the family, village, township.
Taliban is against over 50% of the Afghan population, all the females.
All religions have flaws and some people wearing robes trying to retain power by claiming some morality and taking money for the "good works" of their sect. There are "nice people" in all religions, but anyone who actually reads the holy text and tries to follow it will become radicalized. The holy text doesn't seem to matter. Sigh.

The American military isn’t necessary to protect the oppressed women of Afghanistan. That is the job of the globalists at the UN. Good luck fellas. Osama is dead. Mission accomplished!
oldman_13
I feel bad but it is not the US responsibility to be a police state.
Let them take care of their own problems.
Illyas
I take it all of the people criticizing Trump are willing to personally sacrifice their lives or the lives of their kin in order to prevent the Taliban's return? In order to attack their political enemies, so-called liberals now support occupying a foreign country for another 20 years.
JeffLee
I agree. Obama said during his campaign, "Let Middle Eastern people take care of Middle Eastern problems." I agree. Unfortunately, Obama was a globalist, so by the time he left office, the US was engaged in more combat missions around the globe than at any time in its history.
Hopefully we are seeing a sea change in this fallacy that engaging in disputes around the world is actually good for working people back home.
Wolfpack
Even far Left Dems like Obama could not help but endorse the warfare. Obama enlarged the American military footprint after promising to end the forever wars. He could not help but to promote nation-building and attempting to save women in Afghanistan from the men in Afghanistan. Ramping up the carnage and the drone killing will be Obama’s legacy in that country.
nandakandamanda
No women in the negotiating teams on either side? All men at work.
No wonder their future status has been left open and unresolved in these talks.
nandakandamanda
It makes me want to join the Protect the Women of Afghanistan movement.
The Taliban are mostly Pashtun from the south of the country, so in light of past experiences most other ethnic and tribal groupings of Afghanistan will be extremely worried about the future, not for only their women.
nandakandamanda
Edit above, last line. ...not only for their women.
stormcrow
Afghan women fear Taliban return . . .
And they should be afraid. Afghanistan's a very conservative country and it's always been that way. Unfortunately for the women in the photo, the beekeeper suits will be in fashion once again when the Taliban start calling the shots.
Concerned Citizen
What a mess Afghanistan has been. I hope and pray that the partial U.S withdrawal will be an opportunity for previously warring factions to learn to live together peacefully and to respect human rights.
The minute the Taliban reverts back to its old ways the US ought to intervene again.
