Pence is expressing this with the confidence of the person that wrote it.
This Op-Ed was a brilliant move by the Republican deep state that Trump put in place.
It's belly ache inducing hilarity watching conservatives turn on one another. Ignorant Trump voters would have known this was going to happen if they had had the intellectual capacity to understand what they observed.
Oh my . . .
Chip Star
Pence also says he hasn't been asked for an interview by special counsel Robert Mueller as part of the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. He says he's willing to sit down with Mueller if asked.
https://www.yahoo.com/news/latest-pence-id-lie-detector-test-over-nyt-141246343--politics.html
Pence seems to be maneuvering for a bid in 2020. In his interviews, he's saying all the correct things to distance himself from President Flaming Clown Car.
CrazyJoe
The op-ed was coherent and well articulated, I never once suspected Pence.
Chip Star
"What you saw the other day was as serious as it can get. This is a direct attack on the institutions," Bannon said during a flying visit to Italy. "This is a coup, okay".
https://www.yahoo.com/news/u-president-trump-facing-coup-bannon-115522083--finance.html
Trump, Bannon and their repugnant supporters wanted to tear down American institutions and now they are whining about it?
SuperLib
Which Republican hired by Trump did it?
lincolnman
All the disgusting swamp creatures - all by the way hand-picked by the Great Orange Agitator - are turning on the President who even they now know is unfit for office.
According to Bannon we have a REPUBLICAN coup against a REPUBLICAN President.
Remember, only the best....
bass4funk
How can you verify that it was a Republican? Oh, that’s right, you can’t.
As if the Democrat party with their radical socialist They are trying to take control of the party are doing any better. Lol
Ignorant voters? I guess all the smart people chose the right candidate that’s why she didn’t win and add cherry on top of that choosing socialists is the best way to win any election. ROFL!
Anyway, Washington is a very small town, so it’s just only a matter of time before the person is out it he or she or whether they are Republican or Democrat or just someone that wants to troll the president.
Chip Star
How can you verify that it was a Republican? Oh, that’s right, you can’t
Uhhh . . . All top administration officials in a republican administration are republicans. Logic is weak with some.
Lol. What are you trying to say here? Lol.
Clinton got 65.8 million votes to Trump's 62.9 million, so yes, all the smart people - not to mention far more voters - chose the correct candidate.
Yet again, for barely literate conservatives, the candidate who gets the most popular votes is who Americans wanted. The candidate who wins the electoral college wins the presidency. There have been 4 times the popular vote hasn't aligned with the electoral college; three of which resulted in republicans taking the presidency without a majority of the popular vote.
Try to keep up.
SuperLib
A Democrat works in the White House?
Is this like the time you told me a Democratic Socialist was defeated in an Arizona Republican primary?
bass4funk
A bit different.
But you don’t know if this person was a Republican or a Democrat, man or woman because their anonymous....ahem.....
I said it.
Ok and? Very close I get it but we don’t elect people based on the popular vote, you guys need to wipe the tears and get over it, Hilary will never, ever, ever become President, she lost not once, but twice.
So, No, not very smart, especially on her part.
I want to be CEO of Disney, but if I don’t get the votes by the board members, guess what...
And that’s our system, always been like that, always will. Deal with it.
But again, nice try.
fxgai
A perfectly delivered put down, I give you a thumbs up for that!
Although I generally like VP Pence, and would be happy to see him take office in place of Trump should the opportunity arise. (I say this as a non-American interested in good economic and fiscal policy, as opposed to the other host of ‘conservative’ issues that tend to polarize American politics)
smithinjapan
bass4funk: "But you don’t know if this person was a Republican or a Democrat, man or woman because their anonymous....ahem....."
So, you think a Democrat is in the West Wing, working directly for Trump. Logic is indeed weak on some. I think you're just angry because you know that Trump has become completely paranoid, to the point where his VP needs to take a lie-detector test, and you really do also want a banana republic.
takeda.shingen.1991@gmail.com
They're. I'll take they're *word on it, unless you can give me a reason to believe they are not Trump administration officials.
fxgai
It is what it is, Trump was at least smart enough to win, when really he should have been beatable.
Look at Japanese politics. The PM is elected by the LDP. The American system ain’t perfect but it could be worse.
Chip Star
We don't know whether it's a man or woman because they are anonymous. That they are a top administration official tells anyone with a shred of intelligence that this is a republican. Keep flailing around, grasping at straws; it's funny to watch.
Is that what you call that word soup, unintelligible sentence?
Nobody is disputing that we don't go by the popular vote. We are saying that the popular vote represents who the voters wanted. Stop being intentionally obtuse, it detracts from the flimsy arguments you attempt.
Strangerland
It is. But you people keep trying to claim that the will of the electoral college is the will of the people. If you stop making that incorrect claim, then we don't need to keep pointing out that you're wrong.
SimondB
The irony of Trump suggesting staff should take lie detector tests! Put Trump on - the machine will explode in the first 30 seconds.
bass4funk
There are at least 800 holdovers from the last administration and who works mostly for the government...Democrats, but I never said, it’s a Democrat, I don’t know, you don’t know, this person is Anonymous and because this person is keeping their identity a secret, we don’t know if this person is a man or woman or conservative or liberal. I’m not going to take the New York Times word for it just because they say so, I am cautiously in the middle.
Oh, you got that right!!
Actually, I’m not angry at all, I always laugh a people like this person that want to make a statement, if they do, then I support it, but then don’t be a coward hide behind an assumed identity and still work to collect a paycheck, quit, go on the record and make your statement.
Comsidering the circus we had for 8 years a polygraph Test is small thing to ask for.
plasticmonkey
This is the same Mike Pence who said Trump "hasn't broken his promise" to release his tax returns. He's a bald-faced liar, a charlatan, and a suck-up.
I doubt if it was Pence who wrote the op-ed, but not because I think he's an honest person.
Yeah. Maybe it's all just a hoax, like Obama's birth certificate.
bass4funk
But it doesn’t matter what they think, before this election the Democrats never had a problem with it, now they need to be quiet stop whining and just deal with it, that is the system and that’s it and it’s not going to change, they don’t have to like it but that’s the system and I would say the same thing if it were to the GOP.
Laguna
I know sports enough to recognize when an opponent is not smart enough to win - his opponent is unlucky enough to lose.
Strangerland
You heard it folks - it doesn't matter what the people think.
Bass has officially stop pretending he's a supporter of democracy.
Um, yes they did.
Chip Star
So you think a senior administration official in a republican administration may be a democrat. You obviously lack the ability to logically infer things, or are being intentionally ignorant. Either way, it speaks volumes.
Nome of this changes that the majority of American voters chose Clinton.
Chip Star
Democrats have had a problem with the electoral college system all 3 times republicans failed to get a mandate from the people but ended up in the WH. Cursory research would help you prevent looking ignorant.
Serrano
"special counsel Robert Mueller, who is investigating possible coordination between Russia and Trump's Republican presidential campaign"
Has he found anything yet? No? How much more time shall we give him? Another year?
"The op-ed was coherent and well articulated, I never once suspected Pence."
Yeah, and you never suspected he and Trump would beat Clinton and Kaine, hehe, oh, man, did Kaine ever take a beating in that debate, hehe.
bass4funk
Not ruling it out.
But I Doesn’t matter. I want to be CEO of Disney, I won’t see thst dream come true.
Maybe if Democrats wouldn’t run on a platform of Marxist, socialism they might actually get somewhere....maybe...we’ll, the income redistribution doesn’t help either.
lincolnman
I have to say, I just really enjoy watching Trumpsters twist themselves into pretzels trying to convince themselves that this Anonymous author is part of the evil Democratic cabal - when it says clearly that he or she is a "Senior Administration Official" - that means someone who is in the inner circle, you know - a REPUBLICAN and PART OF THE BEST. This is someone hand-chosen by Trump as part of his cabinet, and I don't believe he chose any Democrats...
I can hear it now, next comes "Hillary wrote it - one of her Hollywood friends had a master makeup artist create a Jeff Sessions mask - then she copied Bill's southern speaking style and gave the interview.. She sure fooled 'em..."
Mark my words, some Trumpster will sign on here saying that's the god's truth...
Strangerland
How would you know? You're not trying to pretend you have an inside informant in the investigation, are you?
lincolnman
Mark Levin? Constitution? That's like asking Trump to give a bible class on marital fidelity...
bass4funk
So wait a minute, let me guess, you know more than everyone else? No one is twisting or contorting or panicking or anything, we don’t know and you don’t know and therefore you cannot can quickly see whether it was a man or a woman or a Republican or a Democrat, none of us can.
This is why liberals always get themselves into trouble they bite off more than they can chew and don’t even swallow properly, when do we will find out but until then it would be better and smarter to air error on the side of caution
Strangerland
If that were the case, the investigation would be shut down by now.
Sneezy
Is that right? Not a nutjob conspiracy theorist this ti-
Ah well. Better luck next time.

The new "Deep Throat" ! Well done, keep that going!!
Strangerland
This is why I don't bother checking out Serrano's links. He's shown a fundamental inability to be able to discern people who have a clue what they're talking about, from morons who don't.
Serrano
"the multiple indictments, charges, and guilty pleas?"
Yeah, all these non-Trump/Russian collusion related indictments, charges and guilty pleas.
"If that were the case, the investigation would be shut down by now."
The Deep State is powerful.
"Ah well. Better luck next time."
Anything Levin said in this link that isn't true? No? Better luck next time.
"This is why I don't bother checking out Serrano's links"
Your loss.
Strangerland
I could post a bunch of stuff my kids post on the American economy, none of which would be lies, but none of it with any value whatsoever because in regards to the American economy, my kids are morons.
This is why it takes a little intelligence to be able to differentiate between those who are worth listening to, and those who aren't.
Some people on this site seem to think that if it's said on YouTube, it should be believed.
Ah_so
I always come on JT to see your posts. Without you it would be a very dull echo chamber.
Not sure you have chosen the right comparator here. I doubt you were even a candidate for the CEO of Disney, and to my knowledge, the role is not decided by a popular ballot if the US people.
In the USA there is a very peculiar form of Democracy whereby the person with the fewer votes wins. Very odd. Trump may have won by the rules, but it isn't democracy.
The USA should join other countries like France that democratically elect their Presidents.
Ah_so
The Deep State is an adolescent fantasy.
Kaerimashita
I wouldn't give TupPence for his assurances. Sure DT is a bit random. Like that's news. Eventually the identity of this person will be discovered (if indeed it is a real person and not a made up editorial by the NYT) and then we will see the fur fly. Treason?
Laguna
Don't worry yourself about the time. Compared with Star's investigations (notice the plural - it metastasized) into Bill Clinton, or recent Republican demands to re-open investigations on an almost decade-old Hillary Clinton email issue, this investigation has been proceeding higgledy-pigledy.
And, yes, we have found things. Though the prosecutor is famously tight-lipped, those who have pleaded guilty indicate wrongdoing. In a similar vein, those distancing themselves from Trump now - as Pence is delicately doing - indicate where the wind is blowing.
Goodlucktoyou
They should write more.
lincolnman
Pence added: "That's because Jeff (Sessions) told me in confidence he did it - Jeff can stand being called a "dumb southerner but he really hates being called "Mr Magoo"....
Chip Star
The popular vote does matter when we are talking about what and who the American people want. To deny this is to be intellectually dishonest to the point that there is no reason to engage. Just like there is no reason to click on Serrano's links.
Chip Star
Let's examine a certain posters argumentative strategy. This is in the context of the electoral college:
Democrats have had a problem with the electoral college system all 3 times republicans failed to get a mandate from the people but ended up in the WH. Cursory research would help you prevent looking ignorant
Notice the reply of the poster that claimed democrats never had a problem with the electoral college after s/he was shown to be utterly incorrect? Instead of owning their mistake, they spew more nonsense.
Democrats have never run on a Marxist platform and have never pushed wealth redistribution.
These are the argumentative tactics of a 7 year old.
lincolnman
Levin? Constitution? That's like asking Steve Bannon for fashion and hygiene advice....
Serrano
Chip: "there is no reason to click on Serrano's links."
Except to learn something, lol
lincoln: "Levin? Constitution? That's like asking Steve Bannon for fashion and hygiene advice"
Couldn't find anything he said in that link that wasn't true, eh? Oh my...
This NYT column is straight up BS. Trump Pence 2020
bass4funk
That could be pseudonym or an alias, do we know? No, we do not. If you know more than every single person, tell us, if not, you are just speculating, nothing more.
No panic. Actually, it’s more like putting emphasis on the verbs, as in, astonishment.
No, but if it did, i would take it as a compliment.
Maybe he does, will he share it with you? Probably not, you don’t have that kind of clearance.
bass4funk
That’s not true, they didn’t have any problem, nor did they say anything about it until they lost, cried, freaked out and then when the results didn’t go their way they complained about the electoral college.
Democrats have always been for inquiry distribution, they have always been for tax hikes, they have always been for regulation, they have always been for increased government, they have always been for punishing success, they have always been for implementing their ideas are thinking that if you don’t follow then you should be punished, everyone should be the same, do the same and follow the same pattern And live a Liberals way of a Marxist socialist lifestyle, sprinkled with a dash of fascism if you don’t comply.
That’s why it’s comical as well as ludicrous to even consider voting for a Democrat/Socialist.
PTownsend
Unless Trump's in jail and Putin wants a different slate. Perhaps he'll push Bannon/David Duke knowing the aging, angry demographic that backed Trump is easily manipulated and will do what the tsar has his trolls, the NRA and alt right media tell Cult45ists to do.
PTownsend
Yep.
SuperLib
Well the writer said they were appointed by Trump, work in the White House, defended the Republican agenda, and aren’t part of any protest on the left.
There’s nothing illegal about saying you aren’t sure to protect your party, but are you sure you want to take that hit to your credibility? You might need it later.
bass4funk
What about the younger vibrant conservatives that back Trump and the growing number of Blacks warming up to Trump?
You mean the way the Chicago guy did to this flock?
Serrano
Pete: "Unless Trump's in jail:
Not a chance.
"and Putin wants a different slate."
What Putin wants is irrelevant.
"the aging, angry demographic that backed Trump"
Now it's the aging, angry, irredeemable deplorables, haha, whatever, Pete, he's gonna get re-elected in a landslide in 2020.
Ah_so
@Serrano - I think that you need to pay a bit more attention to the news. Here is a news source that I think even you will trust:
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2018/09/07/whos-been-charged-by-mueller-in-russia-probe-so-far.html
We should add that since this article was published, George Papadopoulos has also been found guilty in relation to his dealings with Russian agents.
To paraphrase your questions:
Has he found anything yet? Yes. How much more time shall we give him? Another year, at least - as long as it takes to get to the truth.
Serrano
@Ah _so
Oh my...

This should be Trump's next tweet:
The Op-ed writer could be anyone. My best bet is that it was written by the failing and disgusting New York Times themselves. But that's OK.... it will only get my haters' hopes up that I will somehow be removed from office. The Red Wave in November will be all the more delicious.
SuperLib
But why would people trust Trump, a known liar and proven scammer, over the NYT? Doesn’t make any sense.
lincolnman
Read the article - it says its from a Senior White House Official - that's not an alias, that's a title. Come on, tell us you really think it's Hillary in a Jeff Sessions mask...
Panic as you realize Trump's own Republican minions think he's an idiot and danger to the country...
Your're hereby complimented for sounding like a Fifth Grader, would you like to be complimented for sounding like a white supremacist too?
Sessions: "Call me Mr Magoo, take this Hair Fuhrer..."
Levin? Constitution? That's like asking Don Jr to explain Russian adoptions...
therougou
So they do nothing all day?
Chip Star
You think "Senior White House Official" is a pseudonym or alias? If so, you clearly have no idea what either pseudonym or alias means. You are clearly speculating from way out in left field. Keep thrashing around grasping at straws and demonstrate your lack of logic and critical thinking.
First, losing means things didn't go your way. Children write using redundancies like this, which you constantly do.
Second, you have clearly forgotten the 2000 election when Bush II lost the popular vote and democrats complained. Democrats have had a problem with the electoral college when it doesn't reflect the will of the people, which has been 4 times - 3 of which benefitted republicans. You are definitely being intentionally obtuse.
Your screed against democrats is a bore and completely untrue. Comservatibes simply do not have the intellectual capacity to understand that the works is not black and white. It is hilarious to witness them acting like 7 year olds.
Chip Star
Another example of a master on argumentation doing their thing:
When faced with this criticism:
we get this irrelevant and nonsensical answer:
There really is no point in engaging with certain posters that are only interested in hyperbole and half truths. It's like trying to reason with a two year old.
Chip Star
One must have credibility before it can take a hit. That poster has repeatedly been shown with their own words that they lack credibility.
UknownPlayer
With high probability, nobody in the Trump administration penned a letter saying they were betraying him. I think it is a manipulation to get Trump to implode on himself.
Duped by a USC student, someone ran the "essay" through http://turnitin.com . It showed as a 100% match to a USC student essay, turned in without citation - making it an original essay-sept 5-overachiever! Archived & submitted to the repository within minutes of New York Times.
The treason piece was submitted as part of a college essay by a USC student on September 5th. It did not originate within the white house.
The MSM figured it sounded good so they published it to sow discord within the Trump administration, and attempt to get Trump to self-destruct the white house.
So basically the New York Times dug up a college essay within minutes of it hitting the college archives and becoming searchable. Then published it with a fabricated back story to cause the Trump administration to implode on itself. That's quite a psych war tactic I must say!!
