Time they stopped getting a free ride and paid their parking fees

Instead of just waking us up in the middle of night with all the unnecessary lighting, I just wish they'd land and just ask for directions.

That's what an intelligent life form would do.

Just like we prefer to leave the tribes in deep Amazon forrest to themselves and study from afar without contact and without changing their normal way of life, so to would we be considered as primitives and better left to our own devices than spoiled by contact with very advanced alien species.

They may be acting in accordance with their own version of the "prime directive". Monitor and study but do not contact or interfere with.

No aliens. Space is just too big.

Not just space, spacetime. That fourth dimension is a big one. There could have been aliens next door, but if that happened outside of light that's fallen on the earth over the past thousand years or so, we wouldn't have seen it.

I think it's unlikely to be aliens.

They are intelligent which is why they avoid contact with us. Many people see UFOs- not so many see aliens. The reason:

They're probably looking at us going "look at those crazy SOBs! They're killing each other over black and white! OMG! We're purple! WTF are they going to do to us?!?!? Lets get outa here!!!!"

SWOOSH!!!!

Intelligent life would avoid contact with humans

2 ( +6 / -4 )

Something is out there. Time we knew just what that something is.

1 ( +6 / -5 )

I'm surprised there wasn't already a secret government facility to investigate and study the possibilities of UFOs.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

You aren’t allowed to question the government anymore. Well at least not this government.

I must have drastically misunderstood all of your posts since Jan 20 2021.

So the aliens visited recently: "those monkeys evolved quite nicely, look, they even entered the digital age. Let's look a bit of what are they discussing on those forums and twitters. Oh, never mind, we visit again in 100,000 years."

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Even moronic humans often disparage more intelligent humans as being stupid or crazy.

This is true. Think of the number of people who, when presented with figures such as Dr. Fauci, an expert in his field, ignored his advice because they thought that Covid was fake or that injecting bleach would be a good idea.

1 ( +5 / -4 )

They came, they saw, they concluded, its life Jim but not as we know it, They left.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Maybe they are just calculating at what point the human race will either poison the planet or obliterate their own existence.

I certainly I believe we are not alone in this galaxy. However what do we have to offer?

1 ( +2 / -1 )

I certainly I believe we are not alone in this galaxy. However what do we have to offer?

Supposedly, before the Voyager probes were launched, and NASA was considering what pieces of art to include on the golden record to be carried inside the probe, one scientist suggested that they include the music of Bach. The mission director declined, saying, "it's better not to show off".

1 ( +3 / -2 )

@comanteer "For all we know, beings with vastly superior intelligence might see nothing wrong with wiping our planet off the face of the universe."

I don't doubt it. I never said that they would be benevolent beings. If people are any measure to go by, aliens from another world may have us strapped to gurneys under giant microscopes as they conduct their scientific experiments on us for their own knowledge. For that reason, I hope they never find us and it might be best if the people here on earth stopped trying so hard to communicate with whatever might be out there.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Honestly, JT my comment was not directed personally at Express sister.

My comment was focused towards the mission director.

One scientist suggested that they include the music of Bach. The mission director declined, saying, "it's better not to show off".

There would be no logical reason to be impolite to Express sister.

And I certainly would not want Express sister to feel otherwise.

In haste, my comment was perhaps poorly structured.

The weirdest thing about all this is that like others, when I was a teen and into my 20s I thought UFOs were such a big deal mystery. Now we have mainstream, government and military recognition and oddly....I just don't care as much as I used to.

These are probes (drones if you will). Sent vast distances across space and more than likely self replicating. There is no organic living creature in them, they are essentially craft with 3d printing technology that are sent out to scan for life across the whole galaxy and perhaps every galaxy.

As long as we are playing Sci-fi scenarios, how about we humans 400 years in the future are sending these back in time to record history.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

The probability of a space capable civilisation coinciding across deep time in both space and time with the limited time we have been around let alone the present is too small to express.

Space is big, really big, (good advice, hang on to your towel) and the likelihood of life evolving to a space capable civilisation within travelling distance of us is minuscule (even with FTL the distances across the galaxy are infeasible). Across the billions of years the universe has been around the chances they appeared at the same time as us is even less likely.

Is there other life in the universe, probably. Are there other technologically capable species somewhere in the universe, some time in the past/present/future? Possibly.

Von Neumann probes are more likely than ships lugging biological creatures and all their complicated gear to keep them alive, as are machine archillects.

We are not intelligent life

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Anti-gravity, wormholes and other dimensions. Einstein discussed such things, so anything’s possible. There’s certainly got to be more intelligent life out there than exists here.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

There’s certainly got to be more intelligent life out there than exists here.

How would we even know it's intelligent if they are that far ahead? I am sure that slugs or mice don't think humans are smart. Even moronic humans often disparage more intelligent humans as being stupid or crazy. We simply wouldn't have the mental tools to recognize intelligence if it was far enough outside our own sphere. For all we know, beings with vastly superior intelligence might see nothing wrong with wiping our planet off the face of the universe. And they might be right, at least by their superior logic.

We are probably much better off not encountering intelligent life out there. It might be the end of us.

It’s so cool that we get to come back to the UFO mystery that personally thought I’d put to bed in my gullible 20s, where literally everything was a possibility. Started getting a bit cynical about those still hooked on the many mysteries to be chosen from, but now we have the pentagon coming out with these incredible statements and breathing life back into a great story! Probes, us from the future, hidden tech, stewards ( creators) of humanity, what are they? Still fun to ponder, and would be awesome to be part of the generation that the truth is actually revealed to! Won’t hold my breath, but still a nice thing to daydream about. Like that old X Files poster, I WANT TO BELIEVE!

There again these so called UFO's could be a warning. You are not alone and we are watching you.

Deputy Secretary of Defense Kathleen Hicks, working with the U.S. director of national intelligence, ordered the new investigatory body to be established in the U.S. Defense Department's intelligence and security office, the Pentagon said late Tuesday.

It has cut across administrations since the Air Forces Project Blue Book (great old school sci Fi series BTW).

Ideas I have seen proposed are intrusions from alternate dimensions, intelligences at a quantum scale, or a breakaway civilization originally from Earth that somehow established a superior tech. It is fun to speculate but better if there were empirical evidence.

They’re so more advanced that we’d look like something that they would put in a zoo.

Maybe they're actually just visiting a zoo.

Hopefully they won't go on a safari

Podcaster Joe Rogan became quite interested in the topic since the NYTimes came out with their front-page story about UFO's in 2017, and he's had some rather interesting interviews with various people. Make of them what you will, but they're very interesting and fun to listen to. To share a few of my favorites, they are as follows and all available on both YouTube and the Spotify smartphone app:

*episode #1361 with Cmdr. David Favor, the US Navy F-18 pilot who chased the infamous 'tic-tac' ufo featured in the NYTimes article

*episode #1645 with former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Intelligence Christopher Mellon

*episode #1315 with Bob Lazar, a guy who claims to have been part of a reverse-engineering project in Area 51 (more outlandish than the other two episodes, but a very fun listen)

The theme with many of the encounters, at least the ones claimed by military people and probably the most credible, seems to be nuclear technology. Military reports of the craft started shortly after we began detonating nuclear weapons, they've been reported over nuclear missile silos (where it is claimed they disabled multiple independently-controlled missiles), and the more recent encounters with US Navy pilots out to sea, where the aircraft carriers and the submarines that accompany them are powered by nuclear reactors.

Humans, with our relatively basic technology, are now beginning to be able to analyze chemical signatures of planets OUTSIDE our solar system. It isn't terribly far-fetched to imagine that someone with better sensors looking back this way would be able to see the fireworks show of a 10-megaton nuclear bomb being tested in our upper atmosphere (as was done in the earlier days of weapons programs).

So, what do you think? Aliens or no aliens?

If there are, they might be small. They’re so more advanced that we’d look like something that they would put in a zoo.

I assume that similarly, incursions by aliens at the southern border would also cause national security challenges.

Build a wall - a giant space wall! Before you know it, aliens with insect heads will be taking all our jobs.

Seriously though, the only national security challenge the US is worried about would be the one created by its citizens questioning the government. Like many countries these days.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

They should make Fox Mulder in charge of this office. The truth is out there.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

These aliens will help us create a Dyson sphere to harvest energy from our sun at 99% efficiency...

...to serve man.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

How would we even know it's intelligent if they are that far ahead?

If they're that far ahead, why would they consider us intelligent?

We haven't been on the planet five minutes (cosmically speaking) and already we're well on our way to trashing the only planet we have. We've unbalanced the atmosphere leading to global warming and melting of the ice caps thus raising sea levels and potentially inundating many of us out of our homes, not to mention extreme weather events with a tendency to ruin homes, crops and lives; we've virtually fished the seas empty, caused a global extinction crisis with over a million species on track to disappear in the next few decades, and we've littered every corner of the planet with indelible junk, whether it be microplastics in the oceans or space junk circling over our heads.

I sincerely hope we aren't visited by truly intelligent beings, because in that event they'd probably decide to purge the planet of our sorry hides, for the greater cosmic good. Or consider the whole thing too far gone, and demolish the planet completely to make way for a hyperspace bypass.

Make sure to keep your towel with you.

And watch out for the Invalid CSRF. It's a sign of the times...

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Yeah, I still remember when UFOs were "conspiracy theory".

Now look where we are.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

The ongoing 70+ year cover-up MUST be addressed.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

As long as we are playing Sci-fi scenarios, how about we humans 400 years in the future are sending these back in time to record history.

Well time travel defies the laws of physics (in our current understanding), everything I suggested is within the laws of physics.

Traveling back through time is not something physicists currently think is possible within the fabric of our universe. Time travels forward, and only forward. Traveling backwards is in scientific terms, simply magic.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

That’s nothing compared to the new almost invisible and very small UFO seen multiple times in South Africa and HongKong, called B1.1.529, equipped with even astonishing 30 features. I really recommend to care more a bit about that real one instead of the big non-existing outer space ones.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Fun things to ponder.

https://rense.com/general30/yrb3.htm

https://www.academia.edu/43445624/SPACE_WARP_PROPULSION_PART_2_Alien_Reproduction_Vehicle

The physics to permit a vehicle to exceed the speed of light is plausible but requires immense energy. So does anti-gravity. Nuclear propulsion could be part of the equation. My guess is the "Tic-tac" and other vehicles seen are terrestrial in origin.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Concept of aliens is alien.

Like a weed is only something that someone believes is growing in the wrong place.

Time travelling humans are aliens.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

And I certainly would not want Express sister to feel otherwise.

I saw your comment, and I did not get the impression that the accusation of "arrogance" was aimed at me. I didn't feel offended or uncomfortable. I thought your post was perfectly clear.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

"Incursions by any airborne object into our SUA pose safety of flight and operations security concerns, and may pose national security challenges," the Pentagon said in a statement.

This is a powerful and compelling statement.

I assume that similarly, incursions by aliens at the southern border would also cause national security challenges.

-2 ( +5 / -7 )

As long as we are playing Sci-fi scenarios, how about we humans 400 years in the future are sending these back in time to record history.

Well time travel defies the laws of physics (in our current understanding), everything I suggested is within the laws of physics. But what is interesting is if these do turn out to be probes collecting information, they may have a complete recorded history of our human evolution. Imagine being able to see that information.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

as long as the aliens agree to be triple jabbed they can disembark from their flying saucers

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

These are probes (drones if you will). Sent vast distances across space and more than likely self replicating. There is no organic living creature in them, they are essentially craft with 3d printing technology that are sent out to scan for life across the whole galaxy and perhaps every galaxy. They are possibly lying dormant in every star system in the universe until they detect bio signatures from planets then will start to monitor.

We are already doing similar, there are at least a couple of our probes now on another planet (mars) observing and relaying information. If a civilization predated ours by a billion years then it's entirely feasible.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

So, what do you think? Aliens or no aliens?

No aliens. Space is just too big.

-5 ( +5 / -10 )

This is much amusing and just interesting.

Martians, is my guess.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

UFOs are just Russian and Chinese tech that the declining Americans don't know about. Speculating about aliens helps ease the cognitive dissonance as the Empire declines.

-9 ( +5 / -14 )

You aren’t allowed to question the government anymore. Well at least not this government. 2024, questions will be allowed and encouraged again.

im glad this needed office was done under the current administration. If the previous one had even proposed it much less done it would have been total mockery and screams about wasted money and time.

-10 ( +4 / -14 )

Yeah, lets talk about investigating UFOs. That way nobody needs to pay attention to illegal mass immigration, the CCP back in government contracts and universities, inflation, OPEC back in energy control, or Bidens mental capicity. Operation UFO!

-10 ( +1 / -11 )

I mean, how long has it been? 10 billion years already?

If we haven't met "real" aliens yet, we never will.
