I'm speechless.

Does he get out in 3500 years for good behaviour?

What an utterly disgusting human being. He definitely deserves prison for good. First time I've ever heard a sentence that long, though.

my goodness, I almost puke. this is the most horrible thing a father can do to his own daughter. extend it to a million years!

360 counts?? Awful.

14k years won't be enough, though.

The only way he would get a suspended sentence in the Philippines is if he were to be hung!

Depends on your line of thinking. Agreed in terms of the horrific nature of what the man has done to his own, but realistically speaking humanity may not even be around in 14,000 years, and certainly none of US will be. It's like giving some guy 10 death sentences -- he can only die once.

Outside of being a shocking figure and hopefully deterring others and/or being a warning for those who are thinking of doing the same thing, the sentence doesn't really serve a practical purpose.

Well I’m sure they can always fit an automatic lock on his cell door given that there would be nobody left around to let him out.

14,400 years!!! Is this a joke or what! Like he will live that long. They should just castrate him and have him serve 25 years as a jail cell cleaner with a sign on his shirt written, "I was castrated because I was convicted of rape".

The creep in Bali, Indonesia just got 10 years for rape and murder.

This guy gets a 140 times heavier sentence... wtf?

A) Your math is slightly off. B) Those are different countries. C) Its 360 counts versus, what, 2?

Sounds like a fair sentence. I hope the girl gets the counseling she needs.

This is like saying 360 mice are the equivalent of 2 elephants.

I probably would have just given all of the above life and been done with it.

But the thing is I have about several unanswered questions about this case. Rape could mean a number of things anymore. It seriously needs to broken down into three or four other terms.

People talk about counseling like its an operation with a high success rate. Its not. Besides, there is little doubt she is too poor to get counseling, as little faith as I have in it.

I hope she finds a very special man who has the empathy to handle whatever problems she may now have, someone who is a strong emotional anchor for her.

He won't live very long in prison. < :-)

Depends on your perspective. Justice systems aren't really set up to deal with situations like this. The penalty for a single rape is calculated in comparsion to a single murder, not 360 to 1. The justice system works on an individuak count basis.

I probably would have just given all of the above life and been done with it.

This is essentially what they've done. The ridiculous year count simply translates to "life without parole."
