Allowing and encouraging the police to act as judge, jury and executioner on the street is never a good idea, regardless of how popular a leader might be at a particular place and time. It's dangerous from any angle you look at it. At least arrest those accused of crimes first, give them a trial and then shoot them if that's the court's decision.

What I don't get is that DTE loves to buddy up to and praise the PRC and their leadership, but that is where all of the drugs and precursor chemicals for the drugs in th PI are coming from. I just don't understand it.

Anyone who won't cooperate with a UN human rights investigation either has something to hide, or doesn't care if it looks like they have something to hide, which means they definitely have something to hide.

Is a fair point for most of us. The solution is that if Duterte's tyrannical injustices bother us, then we should simply not do business with him or anyone who does business with him. When a monster won't listen to reason and you aren't a stakeholder in their choices, the only ethical choice is to walk away and do nothing whatsoever to help the monster.

I agree with Hiro S Nobumasa. Let us foreigners step back and allow a sovereign nation run by itself, without interfering. The Republic of The Phillipines is a democracy (not Communist), respectful to Japan, and part of Japanese-USA Military alliance. Furthermore, Japan in the past few years have supplied several Navy Patrol Vessells for Philippines to secure her waters and keep out PRC. They also have island disputes with PRC, just like Japan. They also have a very anti-Drugs stance, like Japan. So many similarities.

All the Filipinas I speak to in Snack Bars etc highly respect Pres. Duterte. They say they like his charisma, he is a "Strong Man" in politics (similare to Abe-San) and agree with his War On Drugs. they are the voters, not us.

Hoping DTE will be able to uplift the lives of his people so that the PH will no longer be forced to send her women to work overseas under very tough and sometimes dangerous situations.

The Philippino people are one of the most friendly and hospitable human beings in this planet and maybe their hospitality is the best that this world can offer.

It's ironic and very sad that the PH remains one of the poorest country where poverty, crime, graft and corruption and where the powerful and influential Catholic Church bans birth control leading to more babies and a population explosion that is so massive that it is even observable up above in the Space Station!

Add to this the suffocating tentacles of the druglords who fed the babies of the Catholic Church with drugs like yaba making them useless and dangerous to society and breaking the very core of the Philippino family thereby destroying the very matrix of PH society.

This is the very sick society that DTE is trying to fix. The road he will be traveling will not be a smooth one what with the still very entrenched and untouchable former police generals and still active cops who are still in the drug business in cahoots with the elites and powerful politicians?

Let the International bodies investigate the US invasion of Iraq first before ganging up on a president trying to save the future of their children from the suffocating tentacles of the drug industry.

Overseas Filipinos are the complete opposite of the rich, powerful and influential high class people.

They belong to the less privileged, poor but hardworking class who have to sell their land or borrow money to pay the recruitment agency so that they can find a job overseas.

These are the people whose lives are ruined when the children they left end up being drug addicts.
