RIP to all victims on this flight and I hope for survivors but my thoughts are with the families.

Rare in recent European aviation history, last being Concorde in 2015. The Airbus 320 being a work horse, reliable, magnificent safety record. The airline just announced 114 passengers, 6 crew. So sad.

Wow UK9393 that didn't sound strange or misplaced at all, you don't by any chance work for airbus ?

This news makes my heart cringe.. there's been way too many of these type of news lately.

News like this scary. I'm pretty sure most of us here on JT are "seasoned travellers" and will continue our travels to Europe, The Americas, AUS, NZ, & other cities in Asia etc (I know I will). Some fleets are becoming outdated.

@Taka, facts. That's all they are. Facts that equate to a very big 'How' and 'Why'?

Taking those facts into account, a European airline, excellent safety record aircraft, routine main corridor flight, good weather.... what possible reason for this does that lead us to?

Even in France none know exactly for now. All conditions were perfect, and there is no obvious reason for such an accident. Germany have exclude all risk of terrorist attempt.

We have to wait for the black boxes but the place of the crash is difficult to reach in high mountain. We might have to wait for some before having any kind of serious answers if we have.

The plane was old, but secure, and up to date too. Sometime the unexpected happen, without any reason. It is hard and unfair, but life sometime is that way.

Our condeloances are for the victims and their family.

JT/AFP: The plane issued a distress call at 10:47 a.m., sources said.

...Early reports suggested the DGAC received a distress call at 10:47 CET; later reports clarified that no distress call was made. AFP reported that, "[it] was air traffic control that decided to declare the plane was in distress because there was no contact with the crew of the plane." ...

As suspected, not good. One pilot was locked out of the cockpit.
