The CCP sure as hell knows they're full of it, which is why they keep spouting drivel in a feeble attempt to distract from their blatantly obvious actions. NATO and other nations are doing what they're doing because of what the current Russian and Chinese governments are doing. They keep asking for "respect" but behave completely unworthy of earning the "respect" they crave.

well
they have two choices.
TaiwanIsNotChina
Sounds like it is time to expand NATO to the Pacific.

The only thing I can't figure out is whether this statement is representative of ethnic Han Chinese or the CCP alone, because it says clearly 'we are so ashamed of our own actions, we have to deny it, and lie'.
Great rejuvenation carried out by sneeking in corners and veil of deception. History is not going to be a friend to Chinese people.

It doesn’t matter China. NATO is still at a disadvantage in Asia. China has the home advantage while the U.S. is way away from home not to mention the technology advantage.
How many missiles can the US ships bring? The Koreans are smart and will not let another war fought on its on soil and not especially with its nuclear neighbors to the north.
China has already sent the U.S. Connecticut back home rehabilitating and is sending the U.S. Typhoon missile system deployed back home. The U.S. lost the electromagnetic warfare earlier this month and is withdrawing the missiles from Luzon.

Well Taiwan, I think the acronym would have to be changed with associated costs in reprinting documents and name tags.
Did the Chinese throw in "running dog capitalists " too ?
Or is that one on sabbatical.
Nobody does bombast like the Chinese...maybe Kim in NK.

And that photo of leaders at the summit doesnt fill me with confidence.
Looks like people auditioning for a theatre role at an amateur production in an aged care home.
Biden has "stage fright " ?
TaiwanIsNotChina
Thankfully missiles with enough range don't care about home field advantage and China's goal of destroying Taiwan is not easy. Chinese technology is a joke and its battlefield experience even more so.
They can bring the number of missiles that can be stored on Guam and Hawaii. Not much point in the big ballistics as those trigger WW3 on both sides.
That's why they will become nuclear.
Yeah, no. China did not create the ocean floor.
Diplomatic maneuvers are not military defeats. If Peking blocks another resupply mission, those missiles go right back.

Meanwhile the very next article in this section today is about China staging military exercises in Russia's de facto Belarussian colony right along the Polish border.

Biden got that deer in the headlights look down pat now.
Probably thinking in the photo who is this person talking? Okay Joe. You ready buddy, we are going to take the picture now. say. Ice cream! Everyone now! Ice cream (snap).
Gosh, I can not wait to hear the news he has dropped out.

I'd say calling someone's communique as being full of "provocations and lies" is pretty belligerent rhetoric...
I'd say massive military provocations near Taiwan and the Philippines is beyond rhetoric, and are clearly belligerent actions by a hostile and hegemonic power...

Oh great, I can efficiently use the same comment twice today: "Hilarious coming from a spokesminion for the CCP."
I don't think there is a concept of hypocrisy in China, or at least that it is something you might reveal in yourself. Maybe there is no self awareness. We find the greatest hypocrites and liars seem to have no self-awareness. It's like a general rule. But, I guess to lie repeatedly and unselfconsciously you have to somehow believe your own lies. Maybe nothing is real in China. How do they trust each other? With the way things are going, they may even represent a rather dismal future.
Sh1mon M4sada
This is what I don't get. China is supposed to be assertive, shouting from the roof top of their pride in friends and alliances, but every time China speaks, it's veiled decption sneeking around dark recesses.

Well, tell your buddy Putin to leave Ukraine. Deny him parts for weapons and you can have your peace.
quercetum
This is above and over your head. These are carriers and planes not decisions via diplomacy.
The U.S.S. Connecticut hit the ocean floor (?) and is rehabilitating in the shipyards. Is this the U.S. technology? China doesn’t have to lift a finger then. This is also over your head.
U.S. subs don’t just hit a sea mountain. You don’t think they have radars or the technology to detect what’s ahead? We’re not talking torpedoes here. You are defaming the US Navy.

SOMEONE in Beijing certainly has their undies in a bunch.

As usual the truth is the reverse:
NATO has become a decisive enabler of Washington's war effort in Ukraine since the 2014 coup and continues to pose an existential threat to Russia and to security of non-aligned countries for much longer in general.
Moscow launched a full-scale strategic counteroffensive in Feb of 2022 in defense against the world’s most aggressive racketeering cartel which had hijacked a piece of strategic real estate with the end game to menace Moscow.
The Atlanticists want China to play the little errand boy role and help them out on Ukraine. But the truth is Beijing would be the next victim of NATO because they are next in the firing line; they under the truth of the above and the weasel words coming out of the west.
Western hegemony is what is at stake here - meaning the US with the other as willing supplicants - and those Atlanticists will never allow or treat another country/continent, China, India or whoever as equals; they are determined to preserve their unipolar neo-colonialist power as the world transitions to multi-polar fairness.

But why is this so? Why hide the fact China now lies with the stray dogs alliance? Excercise in Belarus, pay for Russian oil in rmb, supply mercenaries to fight for Russia, equipments.....why deny it?
Same for Hungary, who just had to send aid to Ukraine not via the PM Orban but the opposition leader Peter Magyar. Why hide it.

Putin got them by the balls? or afraid of being alienated because of lying down with stray dogs? Like this:

Coulda been
China complaining about "beligerent rhetoric and lies"- is this a direct quote from their own playbook?
Talk about hypocrisy.

If NATO wants Chinese help, they can start by acknowledging what they are asking for is Help. Once they understand and accept that's what they are really asking for, they would find it easier to dream up an incentive package that might just get the Chinese to help.
TaiwanIsNotChina
Yes, you will call upon the mighty ocean floor. I suspect it will laugh at you as much as I do.
TaiwanIsNotChina
The CCP will never follow international law. There is no point in asking for help from such a country.
TaiwanIsNotChina
Tanks were rolling in only one direction in Feb of 2022. This is clear to anyone with eyes and a brain. Still Putin's War.
From the non-existent Pacific NATO?
Russia's not a pole. At least one that is still upright.

China is right about this.
HonestDictator
China is right about this.
The CCP is never in the right. Once you see just how much they have to cover up and try to (poorly) hide what they do to the Chinese people, you'll understand very clearly. Before the CCP, Chinese culture had manners, dignity, respect, and integrity. After the CCP gained more power, they destroyed China's traditional culture, dignity, respect, and integrity to keep up their lust for power to the CCP elite. The CCP is the problem with China. If the CCP never existed, China could have been in better standing in the world today, and their people would be happier.

Remember in the early 2000s when China was growing economically and in world soft power? Then something happened. Xi. He's screwed up China's future by being nasty towards anyone who says any true things about China he doesn't like. Seems that trying to "save face" is China's primary goal since Xi took power.
It is easy for China to correct the mistake, but they won't do it. Throw Xi out. Make changes to strike the "CCP is always right" from the constitution, allow discourse about the Chinese govt and stop trying to "get" all former Chinese people who don't say what Beijing likes when they are outside China. Stop making stupid claims that are clearly bogus like the 9-dash SCS line. That is a complete joke. Stop having the Chinese Coast Guard being anything but a helpful force in the seas. Safety checks and looking for illegal cargo, not trying extend beyond the official, internationally recognized Chinese EEZ. Leave Taiwan alone. Leave the Philippines alone. Remove all the mass killer posters and statues from all Chinese property and make that man, Mao, a footnote in Chinese history for all the evil he did to Chinese people. Stop supporting other invaders like Putin. The trains between Russia and China haven't stopped with military equipment going 1 way and oil coming the other. Fix that.
If China did those things as a start and China will regain respect in the world. That will lead to a more prosperous China. Learning to play fair in the international markets would go a long way too.

It's long past time for a statement like this. What's been said in private in the corridors of power for many years needs to be stated plainly to the people of the world. China is a totalitarian menace, which gladly aids and abets other menaces to murder and subjugate innocent people.
Which is the main reason they are attending this NATO summit: to deter China from starting such a war.
...of what JJE writes. Yes, we all know that.
They're not asking for "help," as they know China will never do the right thing. They're not naive idiots.
NATO knows China will only stop fueling Russia's war machine when it is so severely shunned by the international community due to its malign actions that its bottom line is irreparably affected. Hence, NATO's (and many governments') outing of China in this way.
Statements like this are "bad for business." And China knows that.
