clearing the way for the fugitive director to move within days from a Swiss jail to house arrest and electronic monitoring at his Alpine resort chalet.

Poor chap, can you imagine facing such hardship? (cynicism off)

As usual, money talks. Poor rapist = jail; rich celebrity rapist = bail.

Polanski claims the judge and prosecutors acted improperly.

Well that is true. How tricking, drugging and raping a 13 year old against her pleas gets reduced to unlawful intercourse and a mere 90 days is a travesty. The whole lot of them, including Polanski but excepting the victim, should have been facing life in prison.

I am sorry to hear this scumbag will be living comfortably at home soon despite the surveillance. The system will never give him the justice he deserves, so in his case, I hope for vigilante justice. And this is coming from a guy who thinks the consent of teenagers should be recognized! Polanski is no teen hearthrob. He is just a rock spider.

Let him finish his 90 days.

Okay. But choose his cell mates wisely. Anyone named Bubba goes directly to the top of the list!

Bad decision. Even with monitors in place, ankle bracelets are easy to take off and often slow for authorites to respond to. Polanski has connections and my bet is within three weeks he will slip away back to France, where he will again be protected for 30 more years.
