There is an election next year in Turkey and the Sultan of Ankara is playing to his conservative Islamic base. Urban Turks tend to be secular and increasingly chafe under the Islamic authoritarianism of the current ruling party and their even farther right ally in their Parliament.

Consider too that this is a country that has recently banned belly dancing from the Turkish media, never mind belly dancing is integral with Turkish customs and some of the most accomplished belly dancers in the world are no longer allowed to perform in their home country.

Lord Dartmouth

They can do what they want in private; why do they feel the need to shout about it in public. It's a deliberate provocation.

Because so many people think like you. And think these people are "less than". They want to proudly proclaim their existence to backward people who still think LGBTQ people don't deserve equal rights. It's for your education. And to set a president that they have no reason to hide who they are any more than you should hide who you are.

Sorry if this disappoints you, but there are many different kinds of people in the world. They have equal right to exist. They are just as valid as you are.

Lord Dartmouth III, I assume you are saying that their proclivities are sexually abnormal ? Like because majority of ( lets say 85% ) the worlds population proclivities are sexually normal (hetrosexual) So 15 % including Transgenders etc. Lets say this group, the sexually abnormal people or genders ? Would you agree ? I hope so because I am find it very hard to remember this group tittle and to also get it in the correct. So I suggest the best way to avoid embracing both this group and myself I put forward this tittle SAG,s Sexually Abnormal Genders, or SAP,s Sexually Abnormal People ?

They certainly were not prepared for a violent police protest against them protesting. They were even for warned. Not one of the protestor brought helmets, masks or any form of protection, I watch one brave but had zero between his ears when it comes to self preservation, Front a line of baton wheeling police only to be hammered like 9 inch nail into the concrete then taught the how avoid a Balmain tap dancing lesson. Then this other brave idiot ran in to save his mate started to beat of police with his? or her? scarf only to succumb to a beating like his follow mate. Like protesters lost big time, Maybe I hope they are better prepare for an attack form the Police next time.

Not interested in being 'educated' (re-educated). They have all the same rights that we have. I'm just saying their sexual proclivities are not normal and there is no reason that we be subjected to their constant hectoring. Having said that, I don't want heterosexuals making a big song and dance about what they get up to in the bedroom either.

@John-San

Sorry, I couldn't quite get your drift. I think 15% is an massive overestimate, by the way.
