Police fire tear gas at Istanbul's Taksim Square protesters

Riot police on Friday used tear gas and water cannon to break up an environmental protest on Istanbul's Taksim Square which spiralled into a wider outcry against Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's government.

This is definitely not helping Istanbul's chances of being chosen to host the Olympics.
