I really tried to understand this argument but I couldn’t.

Could expand upon your theory a little?

I didn’t say guns weren’t a problem.

You didn’t not say it either. You just stated there’s mass-murder without guns as well, which while factually accurate gives the obvious inference to a literate person that guns are not a major issue.

Also a factually accurate statement: Guns enable higher levels of lethality and lower the bar to entry.

I'd also argue they're a method, not a reason.

As has been proven many times over, the US doesn’t have more nutters, racists and zealots per capita or at least not enough more to account for the mass-murder spree we see happening. What it DOES have are guns. Lots and lots of guns, with almost no barriers to ownership regardless of capacity or power.

Im a 40 year gun owner and that is freaking insane.

So yes, guns and easy access to them are the issue, like we didn’t know that already.

But alas, we are in the “it’s too soon after the tragedy - thoughts and prayers please” phase.

Wrong. The gun didn't do anything. It was the person pulling the trigger that needs to be stopped at any warning signs. Stricter access laws. Any training laws. Any license laws. The firearm didn't do anything wrong any more than a knife or car or cleaning solution. These are tools which can be used for good and bad purposes.

It was the human who did this evil.
