We insist on #resistance and orangemanbad? And if we did that less, there would be less homelessness?
Fascinating. Please, continue.

But despite this overall drop, violent crime remains disturbingly higher in economically disadvantaged areas of cities, many of which have violent crime rates that are “exponentially higher” than the national average.
So what are they doing about it? Will they give up with their relaxing liberal laws?

Chicago's strict gun laws are only obeyed by the generally law-abiding residents. The shootings that happen are by and large related to drug dealers and other inner-city thug activities (they violate laws wholesale). How about a law that prohibits murder?
Blacklabel
Exactly my point. Those are the results for your lack of legitimate policies and simple insistence on #resistance to orangemanbad.

It's almost as if loads of guns might might be something to do with loads of people getting shot. Reading some folks here you'd think that it was caused by the way a person votes.

Refuse help? Allow people to kill each other? Do nothing about homelessness? These are the "liberal policies" that you're talking about? They aren't even policies.
It sounds like someone tossed a word salad at you and you took mistook it for research.

I don't know. Seems to me that when some person from the majority shoots up a school or church, the majority are pretty silent and accepting or we get the obligatory ''thoughts and prayers" from that guy and in the White House. The other main rightwingers just toe the NRA/Republican party line by saying that what we really need is more guns.
Blacklabel
Its the problem of whoever is elected by those people to represent them. Not all rural areas have GOP representation only.
Whichever party elected officials are responsible to reach out to get help for the people who elected them. Not refuse help, support false racial attacks, allow people to keep killing each other, do nothing about homelessness and do #muhresistance for their own political benefit. (Hello Chicago, Baltimore and LA with honorable mention to Seattle)

I knew a guy who was a Chicago police officer. He told me that he and his fellow officers confiscated guns on a weekly basis off of the gang-bangers. He told me the guns were everywhere.
SuperLib
Huh? That's a problem is all big cities. Surely someone didn't tell you it's because of liberal policies.
That would be like me saying poverty in rural areas is a direct result of GOP policies. Wouldn't that sound silly to you?
Blacklabel
Liberal run cities have more crime and homelessness. The city of this article is Chicago which is especially off limits to speak about as the home of Obama and the place where supposedly Jussie was viciously attacked by MAGA hat wearing racists. Who somehow knew who he was and that he is gay too.
SuperLib
I have no ideas how "liberals" made it into the discussion. Perhaps someone can enlighten me.
SuperLib
Ban guns now. It's just common sense.
Blacklabel
“Not my president”- then don’t call out to him for help.
Blacklabel
Trump “isnt welcome” in Chicago and the mayor won’t meet him, remember?
so liberals can deal with it themselves when Trump haters shoot Trump haters and when Jussie makes up fake racial attacks.
captain-caveman
The city of Al Capone. Chicago will always have a shoot em up mentality.
Blacklabel
We simply aren’t allowed to do anything about crime any homelessness in liberal cities. Their leaders deny there is any problem.

If this was indeed a "memorial service" for the attempted carjacker, then guess it was likely crawling with armed ne'er do wells. Maybe numbers going down but 475 a year in one city still seems way too high.
alwaysspeakingwisdom
He described the shooting as an “isolated incident.”
LOL, there seems to be a lot of these isolated incidents.
yamada1043
Another day, another shooting ... there has to be an end to this idiocy.
memoryfix
Mr. Noidall. Agree
Blacklabel. Agree
Blacklabel
When the gun control narrative comes out or when its non minorities doing the shooting, violence is up.
its only when the city is liberal run like Chicago or minorities shooting each other that violence seems to be accepted and claims come out that violence is down.
memoryfix
Well, either the numbers are lying or these guys can’t shoot straight. Because the shootings sure are high.
Strangerland
Are you saying it's not? Do you have numbers to support that assertion?
CrazyJoe
Victim of gun violence? The so-called victim was a carjacker who was shot as he threatened the driver of the car he was attempting to steal with a gun.
memoryfix
Yes, we are told violence is dropping. Hmm..I wonder why.
Joey
Oooh the irony
Chip Star
Tragic.
Glad the trend in violence has been dropping.
