Anglo Irish Bank isn't your average savings and loan bank, it serves the wealthy global minority, yet this is being set-up in such a way that the normal Irish taxpayer has to pay for the greed of a few cowboys. Rise up, you men of green, and take back your nation.

Actually, the people who are lobotomized are the people who think Ireland HAS a banking system. What they have is an accounting fraud racketeering system which should have been shut down years ago. But it can still be shut down now, and the bailout of the fraudsters stopped.
That is Ireland's only hope, if they give in the country is dead.

The economic union may implode even before China eventually does.

I agree 100%. The banking system in Ireland is a complete disgrace. When I was there a few years ago I needed to move some money around... something I could in Japan relatively easily, but in Ireland they actually had to fax documents around and what would have taken me 2 minutes at an ATM in Japan took me nearly 5 hours in Ireland... and they charged the bloody earth for it!
Frankly being managed by Brussels might be the best thing that could happen to Ireland, because any country where the President goes around lying to the people for the better part of a year saying, "There will be no bailout"... and engaged in secret negotiations behind everyone's backs, is in desperate need of a new government. How he's escaped being lynched surpasses all understanding.

The Irish President has no roll in governing the day to day running of the country so you can shove that statement .
if you knew anything about banking , it's the Germans who are pushing for the Irish budget to be passed . If Ireland do not pass their budget in December , the junior bond holders will burn and the IMF will not be pleased. Ireland is funded well into the second half of the new year and are in a position to ask a better deal from the ECB and the IMF . The Germans do not want to bail out the real PIGS.

Poor old Mary McAleese - I hardly think it is fair to dump this on her shoulders Frungy. As for Cowen, he should stick to what he does best, necking pints. Flyingfish has got it right unfortunately - ask anyone who has either lived or worked in Ireland this last 10 years and they will tell you how rampant consumerism took hold of this country and for the most part the folk LOVED it. It is worth noting that there were also plentry of observers who predicted it would all go t*ts up before long but everyone was partying too hard to pay them any attention.
