And then back in the real world, where use alternate-alternate facts (aka - facts), no they weren't.

So he shares the same concerns as Edward Snowden. That's good to know.

"The China loans were debunked months ago by the way"
No, not true. Trump World Golf Club in Dubai was built in part by CSCEC. He borrowed heavily from Bank of China, however they collateralized the loan and sold it. Donald Jr has used Chinese financing for projects in Indonesia among other places.

Chinese industrial espionage is well documented. See the 2013 Fireeye (formerly Mandiant) report on Advanced Persistent Threat 1 (APT1), which is actually a PLA unit based primarily in Shanghai. Their targets and methods are laid out in great detail right down to even naming a couple of the PLA hackers who were sloppy in their personal social media use. Fireeye even shows screen shots of Chinese hacks underway as they monitored the systems of their commercial clients who were being attacked.
What surprised me most was it was discovered that even Chinese made quadcopters with cameras can download their imagery to China through the charging station. One can imagine how interested the Chinese would be in seeing the view from a quadcopter near, oh let's say, Norfolk Virginia, MCAS Miramar, Dyess AFB, practically anywhere in Guam or maybe some major infrastructure in the US. Free near real time intel on their adversaries. The quadcopter could be owned by loyal US citizen who has absolutely no idea their toy is serving the CCP in that manner.

Most apps spy, but not all. Apps from China aren't the issue. The problem is that no company in China can refuse access to data against the CCP Govt there.
When other govts, like the USGovt ask Apple, Microsoft, Google or many other large US companies for data, they only comply if the request for that data is highly restricted and back by a legal court order. Apple, Microsoft, Google, PIA (a VPN provider) have all successfully refused USGovt requests for data. How many Chinese companies have successfully refused to provide data to the CCP-Govt? Hint: zero.
When Google, Apple, Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, and (13K others) have our data, we should be concerned that it will be leaked, but they won't show up at our doors with guns. OTOH, China wants that data so bad that it has been caught multiple times after successful hacks were discovered inside companies and the USGovt.
TikTok problems explained: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=La6yrMgkwiY Pay specific attention to the ways that content will be removed, silenced and accounts blocked. Just say anything negative about the CCP - bam - that content will be removed and the account blocked.
If it isn't clear already, anyone can say almost anything negative about Trump or the US govt and have no worries about people with guns showing up at their homes - or "someone" sending thugs to beat them and follow them, their friends, their families.

Ahh, easier to deal with pretending you don't know about it, than to address dear leader's hypocrisy.

"Yeah because trump is known worldwide not for hotels, real estate and resorts but for Chinese neckties right?
get out of here with that nonsense"
With so many bankruptcies to his name American banks will no longer loan money to the Trumps. Donald Trump instead has borrowed heavily from the Bank of China. In addition two Chinese state owned companies are building Trump resorts in United Arab Emirates and Indonesia. Jared Kushner also borrows from Chinese banks for his projects.
Bob Fosse
Follow the money. Where did he get loans for the real estate? China. It’s public record.

"To US leaders, only China's apps would spy on them and report back to Beijing, whereas US's apps in China would eschew from espionage. How naive, how flabbergasting.."
US and other western apps are not available in China due to their national security laws. Visit China sometime and tell us if you can access Google, Facebook, Linkedin, etc. You cannot. They are all blocked because the Chinese cannot access their respective headquarters and data storage.
Blacklabel
Yeah because trump is known worldwide not for hotels, real estate and resorts but for Chinese neckties right?
get out of here with that nonsense
OssanAmerica
No, he's standing up to China because (1) China deserves it and (2) it helps his re-election. That he is a racist is not a significant component of this. China's economic position is about to crash. MIC 2025 is never going to happen.
Who is backed by a Chinese dictator.

Trumps real estate business is based on "chinese manufacturing"?? In what universe?
Strangerland
Yeah, because that's worse than the president being in Chinese pockets right?
You do realize his business is all based on Chinese manufacturing.
You people love to believe what he says, not what he does.

smithinjapan
Not sure if he even comprehends what an app is. It all depends on his handlers, who, yes I would expect to be in Chinas pockets.
WilliB
The issue with TicToc and other Chinese software is that it is CCP spyware. The Indian government has just banned 64 (and rising) Chinese apps.
I am not sure if outright banning apps is necessary. They certainly should not be allowed in where government, security, or high-tech jobs are involved.
bass4funk
Doubt it, bit if he does make it, he could. China first so No surprise there....
itsonlyrocknroll
Certainly from a political prospective Joe Biden can follow his own parties political agenda.
However the same challenges will remain, and little or no route map to contain the havoc this pandemic is wreaking, both economically or halting the current rate of infection.
smithinjapan
Just one more thing Biden can reverse next year.
itsonlyrocknroll
Sorry that President Trump no disrespect to the office
itsonlyrocknroll
bass4funk,
It is a issue that Presedint Trump could call Microsoft bluff, allowing time to consider all the options.
TikTok: How would the US go about banning the Chinese app?

The President need to focus all his attention in the direct of the economy and especially the congressional budget office.
CBO’s Current Projections of Output, Employment, and Interest Rates and a Preliminary Look at Federal Deficits for 2020 and 2021.....

seriously,Tiktok can wait in line. Let Mucsoft take the heat .

And just look how well exercising that right has worked out for America.
It's burning down, riots everywhere, disease infecting the people, and he's absolutely hated.
But yeah, he trolled a little.
bass4funk
I totally agree, he should be criticized, but at the same time, if he’s personally attacked, he should and has the absolute right to defend himself.
The same go for the Democrats and the msm .
Apparently, the State Department and CIA and FBI think differently.
itsonlyrocknroll
Election year, less than 100 days before the electorate votes .
At any other time the smart move would demand, if Microsoft was to pursue a buyout of the U.S TikTok operations then US Government should step back.
However, Microsoft could be accused of playing both ends off against the middle.
With all due respect to the President, Donald Trump lacks patience and subtlety. The technical logistics in “banning” TikTok, is a fools errand.
Concentrate on the policy priorities, combating the issues at hand, the pandemic, especially the economic fall out etc....
TikTok, is TikNot high on the agenda.
Bob Fosse
It’s his job to be “attacked” (i.e criticised)
Need a thick skin to be President, not a crybaby whiner.
bass4funk
But it’s ok to attack him?
No, they’re fake with as many retractions, apologies and corrections they have to do and had to in the past is just a clear indication that the NYT has always been a breeding ground for left wing activism.
No other President was so viciously attacked by Democrats and the msm as much as this President, Bush included. But liberals praising CNN and NYT is ok?
PTownsend
Google (or if 'you'd rather be Russian than...' use Yandex) Trump attacks media to find examples. Recall Trump's Barr using the Department of Justice to go after the NY Times and Washington Post, recall Trump's numerous attacks on something he calls the 'fake media', sometimes just 'the media'. No modern US president has ever been as hostile to the free, for-profit press. I can never recall a president praising an outlet like he has praised One America News Network.
https://www.ioes.ucla.edu/news/trumps-aversion-criticism/
bass4funk
Ok, but that has nothing to do with China and what they’ve been doing.
Jimizo
He certainly tries to discredit any media which say negative things about him. Even fake news/MSM Fox News has had his poo flying in their direction when they didn’t praise him wholeheartedly.
bass4funk
Yeah, I had to do a double take on that one as well.
ohara
especially when Trump wants to restrict freedom of speech attacking media - around the globe - of all forms.
You have got to be kidding!
Bob Fosse
Priorities gentlemen. The “oh look a squirrel” bait and dash won’t cut it.
venze
To US leaders, only China's apps would spy on them and report back to Beijing, whereas US's apps in China would eschew from espionage. How naive, how flabbergasting..
bass4funk
So you’re saying, give China a pass and allow them to steal more of our intellectual property, nice.
My heart bleeds for these spoiled kids.
Goodlucktoyou
Also 100 million Americans use Tictok, so his actions seem to be like that of a North Korean dictator.
Goodlucktoyou
All American Big Tech companies spy on not only Americans, but the whole world.
trump is picking on China because he’s a racist and with him failing at the helm, China is now the top economy in the world.
lincolnman
Hmmmm.... I wonder when Trump will crackdown on those other Chinese sweatshop factories that are stealing American jobs...
Like all those factories that make his ties, golf shirts, and other items...
Buy a Trump Collection hat, fund a missile aimed at us or a new concentration camp for the Uighers...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think she's the daughter of globalist Trilateral Commission bigwig Zbigniew Brzezinski. The apple has fallen pretty close to the tree in this instance.

All apps collect user data.
The regulatory user enrollment, and the manner in which app data segregation along with cryptographic separation of personal and work data is paramount to provide a legal framework to ensure data protection and online privacy.
The Government of China, does not differentiate or define a legal framework or distinction in separating the party/state from any sensitive personal data….
Data Protected - People's Republic of China
https://www.linklaters.com/en/insights/data-protected/data-protected---prc
Nothing zero….
All companies are compelled under the government of China’s National Intelligence Law, quote.
Intelligence officials have the right to enter otherwise restricted facilities, examine private records, investigate and question personnel, and access or even requisition communications or transport equipment owned by companies or individuals. Obligating all public groups, enterprises, organizations, and other institutions to “prevent and stop espionage activities and maintain national security.”
“We are committed to protecting our users’ privacy and safety as we continue working to bring joy to families and meaningful careers to those who create on our platform,” a TikTok spokesperson said.
All nonsense, just weasel words.
The difference between, Twitter , Facebook, Google, etc etc.
The difference Is how the data processed, and leveraged for advertising. remember there are close to 1.3 billion people with a Gmail account another 4.5billion plus staring at an Android smartphone,
NOMINATION
None of us care about the demise of Tik Tok in the U.S. However, please send condolences to 14 year old girls in the burbs lol

I want to see China weakened - bigly -
Then you definitely don't want to support Biden or whoever might replace him in the Democratic Party over Trump.
but don't see Trump's US as a much better alternative, especially when Trump wants to restrict freedom of speech attacking media - around the globe - of all forms.
Trump doesn't want to restrict freedom of speech, he hits back when hit. The ones who want to restrict freedom of speech are, ironically, the liberals in the government and the media and Big Tech like Twitter, Facebook and Google that delete info and silence those who have conservative opinions. What's up with MSDNC's Mika Brzezinski calling for Twitter to take down Trump's account just because she doesn't like his tweets?
This is a real issue and Secretary Pompous is the last person who should be delivering it. He has no credibility on anything regarding Chima. As a fellow Kansan, I can tell you the man is regarded as an embarrassment. There’s a reason he didn’t run for Senate this year. He would have likely lost.
He's too busy being a way better Secretary of State than our last three to run for Senate.

Well said Monty - totally agree
bass4funk
I am not a fan of many of these homegrown companies as well for them to have my info, however we are talking about a foreign adversary that wants nothing more than to see the slow destruction of the US and if Washington won’t take action that possibility will happen faster than we know it.
Vanessa Carlisle
Only Chinese apps spy on you. All the others safe. I swear. Really I do. You have to trust me on this one. American corporations truly only have your best interests at heart! Its the bad, bad Chinese corporations that are going to use the information to sell you unhealthy products and just them! Honest!
bass4funk
The media is attacking Trump 10 to 1 over him attacking them and they’re also ticked off that this President has the nerve to hit them right back and thank God he does, but having said that and as much as I hate Gates and Microsoft, overall China and their surveillance of American industries and them stealing our intellectual property can’t continue, so yes, this can’t continue with China any longer and they need to be sent a clear message.
Utter and laughable nonsense. Trump is doing the absolute Right thing, the man could care less what the media thinks as we have seen over the years. Ask Jim Acosta. The media has way more to hide and way more at stake.
Vince Black
Well done again to Trump for getting rid of it. Anyone who does have it should delete it and advise those around them to, too.
PTownsend
Microsoft is another surveillance-capitalism leviathan. What do they do with their data. How much of that do the numerous US government spook agencies skim off. I want to see China weakened - bigly - but don't see Trump's US as a much better alternative, especially when Trump wants to restrict freedom of speech attacking media - around the globe - of all forms. NB I am NOT supporting China. I do NOT see existence as binary. I oppose ALL empires.
Plus attacking TikTok is just another way to distract from Trump's failed 'war presidency' as American deaths increase daily and the Trump economy gets worse.
Trump's trying to hide his failures. Again.
bass4funk
@monty
I second that agreement. Get rid of it.
mtuffizi
monty - totally agreed.

TikTok says it does not censor videos and it would not give the Chinese government access to U.S. user data
I dont believe any single word that comes out of the mouth of any chinese company.
Especially from an internet company.
