Venezuela has been in recession for five years.

Because of corrupt and incompetent leadership. Venezuela suffers from 'resource curse'

*The resource curse, also known as the paradox of plenty, refers to the paradox that countries with an abundance of natural resources (such as fossil fuels and certain minerals), tend to have less economic growth, less democracy, and worse development outcomes than countries with fewer natural resources. (Wikipedia)*

Like so many other states suffering 'resource curse', much of the profit from selling resources goes outside the country to one or many of the global corporations.

China, Russia and Cuba have also provided support to Maduro's socialist regime.

Does anyone know whether Russia's other partners Iran and North Korea are also involved?

Funny how he sees democratically elected (as in the majority of the votes) Maduro as a 'tyrant', but thinks that the Orange Blunder he serves isn't, despite the fact that the majority of the votes were for his opponent.

PS, love how someone thinks that the effects of the US stealing hundreds of millions of dollars from the people of Venezuela is the fault of 'mismanagement' by the democratically elected government of Venezuela. Given that that pattern of thinking is common amongst con artists, bullies, and the cronies of tyrants (as well as tyrants) would you be comfortable knowing he lived next door?

Funny how some think Maduro should stay in power.

The "Orange Blunder's" opponent didn't get the majority of votes outside California, and our Electoral College system saved us from what would have been a disastrous Hillary Clinton presidency.

The Trump administration is a tyranny? If it was, how could the House impeach him? LOL

Hey Porky - if you want to end tyranny why don't you come in and testify at the Senate hearing this week - and tell us all about why you did nothing when your employee Amb Yovanovich was being illegally surveilled by Crazy Rudy? Or about what role you had in the "drug deal"? Or how Rick Perry steered huge oil and gas contracts to his Texas buddies? Or how many times you and Devin Nunez talked about Ukraine? Or how many times Donnie said "QPQ"?

What'ya say?

I am confident Trump has enough sense to not let Pompeo drag him into another stupid regime change attempt.

You may be the only one confident. But more to the point, what's the difference between Donnie and Porky? They're both NEOCONs and several Trumpers here are glad of it.

I can see it know - late Oct Donnie starting a war with Venezuela so refugees will flee and head toward our border....

CARAVANS!!!!!!!!

And his supporters will completely fall for the con-job....again...

Trump is not, and your shouting in capitals does not change that. Try look outside your echochamber sometimes.

He isn't? Fellow Trumpers disagree with you. You need to have a conversation with Bass....

And now the Great Orange Emperor in the White House has disrobed and shown us that he's just as big a NEOCON

If so, good!
