U.S. pop princess Katy Perry said Thursday she was full of emotion as she visited Auschwitz, the infamous World War II-era Nazi German death camp in southern Poland that has come to symbolise the Holocaust.

Good on her. Great to see that someone with her visibility among young people takes this responsibility seriously and wants her followers to never forget history. All those young people are only free to enjoy her music because millions of people in many countries were willing to sacrifice everything to eliminate the thinking behind Auschwitz from the earth.

Seems like the victims have been through enough.

And this is a news in the "world" section? She is a (mediocre) pop star, not a politician.

She's a world-famous pop star, who has sold millions of albums, and has fans around the world. That makes it of interest to many people. And since she's not Japanese, this would be news of the world, not local.

Auschwitz is a powerful place. When I visited I was deeply moved. Walking the Berkenau camp ( part of the Auschwitz camp) I recognized the train platform and so many imigages i have seen the years prior were filling my mind. An extremely sad place to be an was VERY shocked to see laughing Polish school boys laughing and carrying on at the camp.

The Nazi's must never be forgotten. The atrocities committed to Europes misfits as defined by the Nazi party should never be forgotten.

Implying in the entertainment section there are news only about Japanese celebrities. You know it's not true.

Love her or not, you can tell Perry was moved when she visited a place where one of humanity's worst atrocities were committed. The Auschwitz complex today serves as a museum to remember the circa 1.1 million people killed there--it can be a sobering experience to any visits there even now.

Typical American celebrity, i guess any publicity she can get, right ?

I didn't imply that. The only one who has said it, is you.

Readers, don't worry about it.

I didn't say that. I implied this news was more suitable to the entertainment section, you missed my point. Period.
