“Islamophobia is rising seriously and rapidly. We must work together against the threats weighing on our planet—intolerance, racism and discrimination,” said Erdogan.
I think you'll find religion is the source of a great deal of intolerance and discrimination in the world. This intolerance is often directed against non-believers, believers of other religions, women and homosexuals. Over half the population of the planet. Islamophobia? Well, I think you'll find Islam, in a highly competitive field, is very often more intolerant than most and deserves criticism for that. I'm sure this pope has good intentions but as the leader of church which believes it has the 'truth' and Islam doesn't, he's part of the problem.
