“For a religious leader to question a person’s faith is disgraceful,” he said at a campaign stop in South Carolina, which holds a key primary on Saturday. “I am proud to be a Christian, and as president I will not allow Christianity to be consistently attacked and weakened.”

DONALD J. TRUMP

Donald Trump jumps the shark. Condemnation of the Pope leads on Trump's declaration of Holy War.

What a dope.

No wonder this Casino owner lost his shirt in a money printing factory. Bye Donnie, it was fun, really.

The Pope has NO business to make that kind of a outrageous statement. But coming from a socialist background, I'm not surprised another border open guy that thinks they know what's best for the nation. Laughable!

-24 ( +12 / -36 )

“A person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian.”

Well, that's pretty clear. Still, the Pope can only speak for Catholics, and Daffy is a Presbyterian.

But, what of Rubio and Cruz?

Rubio (Catholic by way of Catholic, Mormonism and Southern Baptist): "Here's the way forward: First, we must secure our border, the physical border, with a wall, absolutely,” he said. “But we also need to have an entry/exit tracking system. Forty percent of the people who come here illegally come legally, and then they overstay the visa. We also need a mandatory e-verify system."

Cruz is a Southern Baptist.

8 ( +12 / -4 )

The pope cannot determine who is and who isn't Christian. I'll agree with Trump on this one.

Last I checked the Vatican is built like a fortification.....where's the bridges? Can't blame that on the pope for fortress Vatican but the irony of such a statement.

-9 ( +12 / -21 )

But the big question is: will Donald Trump sue the Pope?

7 ( +12 / -5 )

Here's a fact: dissing this Pope ain't gonna make you friends with the Latinos.

Looks like Francis agrees with me:

the Republican party must be destroyed.

6 ( +14 / -9 )

“A person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian.”

Maybe it not be in the his interpretation of what or how a Christian should be, but he has NO right to judge or tell people what they are what they aren't.

-5 ( +12 / -17 )

(Trump said)...it was “disgraceful” for a religious leader to question a person’s faith.

I think we all know Trump cares as little about religion and faith as is followers do.

5 ( +11 / -7 )

Pope Francis, tear down that wall!

And import more economic refugees!!!

JT- Pope Francis: "A person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian.”

The Vatican City, officially the Vatican City State, is a walled enclave and sovereign state within the city of Rome. With an area of approximately 44 hectares (110 acres), and a population of 842, it is the smallest internationally recognized independent state in the world by both area and population.

And so ends the billionaire's last leap into history's bin of bigots.

Send a lock of your golden mane! Really, send it!

Ladies and Gentlemen! Donald J. Trump, Haberdasher, Television Personality.

"Thanks for the Memories . . ."

Bye! Too bad about ruining your Corporate identity, forever.

Donald Trump, Failure First.

"The Pope has NO business to make that kind of a outrageous statement. " "Maybe it not be in the his interpretation of what or how a Christian should be, but he has NO right to judge or tell people what they are what they aren't." No, Jesus said "though shalnt be any walls" in the Commandments so there shall be no walls. And Remember Reagan was a real Christian because he gave millions and millions of greencards. It shows that the Republicans are the real Christians. Also, they invented ObamaCare which goes along the beliefs of Jesus healing the sick.

-1 ( +6 / -7 )

The Pope is delusional

I think we all know Trump cares as little about religion and faith as is followers do.

That's not necessarily a bad thing.

-2 ( +11 / -13 )

"The Pope is delusional" No, he is the closest there is to God so he knows the truth. Look at how Reagan followed the Pope's vision by granting millions upon millions of greencards.

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

@bass4funk

Maybe it not be in the his interpretation of what or how a Christian should be, but he has NO right to judge or tell people what they are what they aren't.

Are you suggesting he lose his right to free speech?

Why should Trump have the "right to judge or tell people what they are what they aren't," which he uses all the time, and not the Pope?

The Pope also has the responsibility to point out what is morally reprehensible to the Church and his followers, and Trump's proclamations are indeed that.

7 ( +11 / -4 )

Nicely played Mr. Trump.

Really, who wants to listen to the Pope about what Christianity means?

Donald Trump, bridge builder. NOT!

1 ( +6 / -5 )

The Pope should not knock down his Vatican Wall and open its doors. Vatican City has the toughest immigration of all places. The Pope should can it.

1 ( +7 / -6 )

The pope needs to watch himself. If he's not careful, Trump will have him tortured into saying that he is Christian. Or he may just ban all Catholics from the USA.

4 ( +11 / -7 )

"saying it was “disgraceful” for a religious leader to question a person’s faith."

Donald Trump today

“How can Ted Cruz be an Evangelical Christian when he lies so much and is so dishonest?”

Donald Trump less than a week ago. You can't make this stuff up.
8 ( +10 / -3 )

“How can Ted Cruz be an Evangelical Christian when he lies so much and is so dishonest?” - Donald Trump

How can Trump be a candidate for the Presidency? Go fish.

0 ( +5 / -5 )

He is a hypocrite, though. There are hundreds of miles of fencing that have been mandated by law since 9/11 which means that most areas where the terrain will allow it and the land isn't privately owned are already barricaded in some way. Is Bush less of a Christian because the fencing is partially virtual, vehicular, broken, old or matted ?? Don't even get close to going there. Don't do it. Of course unlike at the much higher Vatican fortification even a border wall can be tunneled under or climbed or gotten around. There will always be gaps, and smugglers and migrants will seek out those gaps and go through.

1 ( +5 / -4 )

P Fran. Got to love P Fran.

Reforming the Church isn't enough. P Fran has to point out Trump's a total (unpublishable)?

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

Heh, and now we have the extremists in the US starting the War on the Pope!

1 ( +5 / -4 )

How many 'undocumented' immigrants in Vatican City?

4 ( +8 / -4 )

Bless you Pope Francis. Indeed, building bridges is a fundamental Christian ideology. For starters, let's build a bridge from the Vatican to the Gaza Strip post-haste so that others can let you know exactly what they think of Christianity! Doing so may even bring you closer to God than ever!

-2 ( +5 / -7 )

Says the guy who speaks for God. LOL.

Just ignore those weapons sales. Nudge nudge

2 ( +5 / -3 )

@Strangerland,

What`s Sanders saying about the Pope?

@turbosat,

Don`t you dare ask Left-wingers such a question.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

A statement of the obvious by the pope. And yes, I do think he speaks with a bit more authority than most about what does or doesn't make a Christian.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

What`s Sanders saying about the Pope?

Why, would that somehow change the opinion of Trump? What relevance would Sander's comments on the pope have to the current topic?

(hint: none).

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

Sorry about the walls you have around the Vatican...Protecting your billions and billions. The Catholic church is the richest religious organization in the world...Surely they can do a lot more for humanity than they are doing...Not to mention all the child abuse cases that are still going on in courts all over the globe...Oh no don't address these matters Mr Pope jump on the political bandwagon that will get you more votes for your religion. Now we don't want to lose members now do we that will mean loss of donations.Religion is very similar to politics just full of empty promises and smoke screens....

3 ( +6 / -3 )

Breaking news:

"In response to the statement by the Pope, Donald Trump today stuck out his lower lip and sulked like a baby before reversing an earlier proclamation by declaring "I take back what I said. 'The Art of the Deal' is a much better book than the bible".

3 ( +5 / -3 )

Are you suggesting he lose his right to free speech?

Not at all, but the Pope doesn't understand American politics, doesn't live in the US or near the border States, the man has no idea about the problems we have with illegals and the problems many bring and the libs that allow and give them huge entitlements that they should never get as a reward for being in the country illegally.

Why should Trump have the "right to judge or tell people what they are what they aren't," which he uses all the time, and not the Pope?

Maybe because Trump is a US citizen speaking to US citizens.

The Pope also has the responsibility to point out what is morally reprehensible to the Church and his followers, and Trump's proclamations are indeed that.

I get that, but it infuriates me that the Pope thinks everyone has the absolute right to enter the country illegally, totally absurd!

How can Trump be a candidate for the Presidency? Go fish

Don't forget to add Hillary and Bernie to that bag of mixed nuts.

-12 ( +5 / -17 )

War on the Pope!!!

2 ( +6 / -4 )

The Pope started it.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

Testing, testing, GOP ShiaTea response trigger . . .

"Pope Calls Trump Policy Un-Christian"

"That Dad Gumm Hillary!"

Test: PASS

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

There are many awful things which 'aren't christian' per se that devoted christians have no issue with. Have quite a few in mind.

Trump building a wall on the Mexican border would not rank at the top on my list of ' terrible things done by christians' actually. So trump may be a good christian and an idiot, these 2 aren't mutually exclusive.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

The Pope started it.

He sure did.

@kc

No other candidate would have the **** to tell the Pope to in kind words, "take a hike" Could Hillary do that? No, she's to busy worrying how best she can screw the nation.

-7 ( +8 / -15 )

"So trump may be a good christian and an idiot, these 2 aren't mutually exclusive." - comments

What's your point Ducks? The Pope called Donald dumb. Where's the disconnect. Donald's Duck is Cooked. Bye-bye.

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

The Pope started it.

Yeah, damn him for being all moralistic, righteous and compassionate.

1 ( +9 / -8 )

*"No other candidate would have the *** to tell the Pope to in kind words, "take a hike" - comments

. . . or civilized person*

The commenter has his consistency. It seems immature, yes, but it is very consistent. Just like the GOP ShiaTea and creepy Donald Trump.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

They like Trump because he's not PC and speaks his mind, but they hate that the pope spoke his mind and dissed the Don...

2 ( +5 / -3 )

Trump fired back ferociously, saying it was “disgraceful” for a religious leader to question a person’s faith.

Whiner. If he becomes president is he going to spend all his time like this, whining like a 6 year-old about mean people who don't like him?

No other candidate would have the **** to tell the Pope to in kind words, "take a hike"

No, he didn't. He got all upset about it. Telling the Pope in kind words to "take a hike" would sound something like, "He's entitled to his opinion." Not, "poor me, how dare he, everyone's mean to me, I want to bang my daughter, etc etc"

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

Yeah, damn him for being all moralistic, righteous and compassionate

Being moralistic, righteous and holly is all fine and dandy. But not on my tax dollars. Build a wall, keep them out. There are enough illegals already.

-5 ( +5 / -10 )

turbotsat: The Pope started it.

I take it back. Apparently Trump started it last week before the Pope got here.

And it's only been a few days since Trump said something similar about Cruz:

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/opinion/huppke/ct-pope-trump-huppke-20160218-story.html

That’s a great point. Only regular leaders are allowed to non-disgracefully question a person’s faith, as Trump did six days ago on Twitter: “How can Ted Cruz be an evangelical Christian when he lies so much and is so dishonest?”

1 ( +4 / -3 )

Oh, Porto. Always the nit to pick.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Just when you think it can't more absurd, The Donald Show reaches a new level.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

The Pope started it but admitted that he was "giving him the benefit of the doubt" because he didn't even know exactly what Trump had said or the context in which it was given. Really. Stupid, obnoxious, disgraceful...pick your term. That is a very bad decision made by a guy that's supposed to be all about wisdom. His comments and throwing Trump a hanging curve right before South Carolina interfere w/the process of selecting a GOP nominee.

1 ( +5 / -4 )

ts: The Pope started it.

Strangerland: Yeah, damn him for being all moralistic, righteous and compassionate.

Really? Does the Pope allow illegal immigrants over the wall into Vatican City?

1 ( +5 / -4 )

That old saying "politics makes strange bedfellows" seems to apply to this topic. We get the bandwagon of people on here who love to bash Trump, and the right wing Evangelical Christians at every step, suddenly agreeing with a religious leader like the Pope in his comments on Trump. Now if the Pope says something like marriage should only be between a man and a woman (which he does) then all of a sudden he is out of sync with the times.

Some say this will cause Trump to lose the Hispanic vote. I don't think so. Many Hispanics will vote for him based on his position. And for those who don't know it, if they are Hispanic, and in the USA illegally, they can't vote anyway. So even if he does lose some of the Hispanic vote, you must remember that there may be a large amount who are not eligible to vote.

Donald is right on this one. For those of you who live in Japan, and think that Christianity is not the way, but would like to follow Buddhism or Shinto, then guess what according to the Pope you are not a Christian either (even if you may have been brought up in it and you believe in it's concepts) according to the Pope. So are you willing to say that he is right and should define how you chose to believe in God (for you non-Catholics).

When the Vatican auctions off a Michelangelo painting from the basement and directly gives the money to the poor refugees swarming into Europe, I will say that the Pope has the moral high ground. But he shouldn't be interfering in US political process. He can deal with whomever is elected

"Trump fired back ferociously, saying it was “disgraceful” for a religious leader to question a person’s faith." - article

Trump lectures the Pope on Christianity.

The Top Pompous goes BIG!

Bye-bye.

-1 ( +5 / -6 )

Really? Does the Pope allow illegal immigrants over the wall into Vatican City?

I don't know - does he?

-2 ( +4 / -6 )

That Pope seems to suggest Trump's life work of creating gated and exclusive compounds for his billionaire buddies is inconsistent with compassion and Christian ideals.

In the words of Ex-Senator, (loser), Rick Santorium: "What A Snob!"

Like the Pope could ever understand the power and wisdom of a Donald J. Trump!

He's a Haberdasher!

Pope Francis! Trump is a Haberdasher!

How dare you comment on a Haberdasher!

Santorium was right. Hillary got to the Pope!!

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

Strangerland: I don't know - does he?

Apparently not. This article from 1995 says the Vatican doesn't accept any immigrants. Or discussions on the topic. And a more recent article from Sept. 2015 confirms the policy, but also notes the current Pope has mentioned wanting to accept a couple of refugee families, and actually accepting one. But they're not a flood of gatecrashers like he's criticizing the US for not wanting.

I thought of crashing the Vatican gates, kneeling, claiming refugee status, and becoming the first illegal immigrant. But it's a bit far to fly there and play around like that, on a whim. Plus those Swiss Guards look a bit itchy-fingered. And big.

http://www.thesocialcontract.com/artman2/publish/tsc0504/article_473.shtml

How Many Immigrants Does Vatican City Take? - (Summer 1995)

... What the church does about accepting outsiders into its own 'nation' has at least symbolic importance, because the Catholic hierarchy has been anything but shy in sharing its opinion that other nations should maintain policies of virtually open immigration. ...

.... What it does not have is any immigrants. Nor refugees. None. I tried to get the Holy See's official point-of-view on this question by contacting its official representative in the U.S., Archbishop Agostino Cacciavillan, the papal nuncio. His assistant insisted she could answer no questions, and all official questions must be addressed to the archbishop himself in writing. I faxed a few simple questions over in April but received no reply. ...

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2015/sep/24/pope-call-immigration-unlikely-change-debate/?page=all

... Pope Francis is more than head of the Catholic Church — he’s also the head of state of the Vatican, which as a government has possibly the most restrictive immigration and citizenship policies of any nation in the world. ...

... The Vatican, for its part, welcomes millions of visitors a year — but allows only a very select few, who meet strict criteria, to be admitted as residents or citizens. .... Pope Francis, however, has taken some steps to mitigate those attacks, matching his call earlier this month for churches to host Syrian refugees with a vow that the Vatican itself would take in a couple of refugee families. ...

1 ( +5 / -4 )

@kcjapan

Always

Trump supporters talk about wanting the world to be less politically correct, well it happened and Trump got offended. As a Christian leader, how is the pope not qualified to talk about what is and is not becoming of a Christian? But the Don is qualified to asses other candidates (Cruz)?

0 ( +3 / -3 )

No, he didn't. He got all upset about it. Telling the Pope in kind words to "take a hike" would sound something like, "He's entitled to his opinion." Not, "poor me, how dare he, everyone's mean to me, I want to bang my daughter, etc etc"

I'll give you that, he's extremely thin-skinned. My problem in all honesty is not really what he said, that's fine, but I just get annoyed when the Pope thinks we need to allow everyone in when most Americans want the damn borders closed and an end to preferential treatment to every illegal that comes into the country. The Pope has no idea what he's talking about when it comes to this issue.

Trump lectures the Pope on Christianity.

I don't think he really cares, but he sure does need to bite his tongue a little on this issue.

Bye-bye.

Yeah, you wish.

-4 ( +5 / -9 )

Apparently not. This article from 1995 says the Vatican doesn't accept any immigrants. Or discussions on the topic. Ok.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Don't short poxes - the house demand for which they may be on is only certain to rise.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Mr. Pope, tear down those Vatican Walls!!! It's not were Christian of you is it?

-5 ( +5 / -10 )

Somebody should ask Francis about the massive walls around the Vatican and his Swiss Guards. Isn´t time to tear down his walls and let in a flood of immigrants? What a hypocrite.

Popes always play politics of course, but I can´t remember one so blatently jumping in the electioneering process of one country.

-1 ( +4 / -5 )

I'm curious how you guys think his hypocrisy makes his words wrong.

-1 ( +4 / -5 )

Mr. Pope, tear down those Vatican Walls!!! Similar to what a great man once said. Way to go Wolfpack.

-7 ( +4 / -11 )

Funny how all these posters are "pro" Pope and anti-Trump. Yet when the Pope and Catholic church scorn/criticize the whole LGBT issue, these posters suddenly have a different opinion than the Pope. Oh my! the hypocrisy.

-4 ( +5 / -9 )

Somebody should ask Francis about the massive walls around the Vatican and his Swiss Guards. Isn´t time to tear down his walls and let in a flood of immigrants?

Excellent idea, how many millions do you think the Vatican can accommodate?

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Strangerland: I'm curious how you guys think his hypocrisy makes his words wrong.

Pope: “A person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian,” he said.

What use is a wall with a bridge over it?

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

how many millions do you think the Vatican can accommodate?

And how many do you think america WANTS to accommodate. Enough is enough is enough!

. . . . and some say we don't need a wall. (sheesh-)

-6 ( +4 / -10 )

"I'm curious how you guys think his hypocrisy makes his words wrong."

Very true. It's worth pointing out the Christian Right don't see their own hypocrisy. Their bible says give all you have to the rich not the poor, don't turn the other cheek and torture rather than love your enemies.

It's a different book to the one the rest of us read. The pacifist, wealth-redistributing socialist from Nazareth is irrelevant.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

Funny thing about walls and gates in religion. The Bible talks about the Pearly Gates in Heaven (Revelation 21:12) , describes the gates in heaven. God also told Nehemiah built a protective wall around Jerusalem. For those of you who do not profess the Christian faith, you can get a pass on this one, but for those who call themselves Christian and agree with the Pope that Trump is wrong for building a wall around the USA, then why did so many people have to do it in the Bible, which the Pope is claiming to be an authority on. If these types of things are outdated, then at the next Vatican council, they should look at removing them from the Vulgate (official Catholic version of the Bible) as well as relooking at the whole gay marriage, priest being married and contraception standings, since many in today's modern world find the Church's thinking and belief in these subjects out of sync with the modern times.

1 ( +5 / -4 )

these posters suddenly have a different opinion than the Pope. Oh my! the hypocrisy

Because if you agree with a person on one point, you have to agree with him on everything, absolutely everything, cos otherwise you're a hypocrite?

Nah.

4 ( +7 / -3 )

Because if you agree with a person on one point, you have to agree with him on everything, absolutely everything, cos otherwise you're a hypocrite?

Just goes to show the Pope needs to stick with the religion thing and not poke his nose in politics. He acts too much like a politician instead of a pontiff.

-11 ( +2 / -13 )

Man who routinely breaks multiple commandments in personal life, supports policies that clearly run counter to most important bits of the bible in public life, shocked to have his faith questioned by religious leader. Details at 11.

7 ( +9 / -2 )

I bet this guy could probably pull a sword out of a stone by now...LOL

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

"the Pope needs to stick with the religion thing and not poke his nose in politics. He acts too much like a politician instead of a pontiff"

Do you think the Christian Right should be told to keep religion out of politics as well? Should they just stick with 'the religion thing'?

4 ( +7 / -3 )

Do you think the Christian Right should be told to keep religion out of politics as well?

If its going to discourage, rathern than encourage (like the pope is doing), mexican immigrants from hopping the border then the Christian Right should be "doing it."

-11 ( +2 / -13 )

Hispanics, an increasingly large voting bloc in U.S. presidential elections, have flocked to Democrats in recent years. President Barack Obama won more than 70 percent in the 2012 election, leading some Republican leaders to conclude the party must increase its appeal to them.

And the members of the Republican party heard the call to appeal to Hispanics and fell flat on their faces. Immigration reform would help, but the GOP blocked a passable vote because the Tea Party demanded that no deal be made.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

Yes, I have been to the Vatican. Guarded walls all around it, I surely didn't see any immigrants anywhere. Maybe because there is a WALL to keep them out?

1 ( +6 / -5 )

Pope in politics? Not desirable.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

Israel has a massive wall yet I don't see the Pope condemning that....

0 ( +0 / -0 )

sorry pope, trump is not catholic, hell he's probably not religious at all.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

At first, I presumed he was speaking viscerally and not literally when he said, "a person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian."

But he crossed the line when he singled out Mr. Trump and his plan to better protect all Americans citizens by commenting, “I say only that this man is not a Christian if he has said things like that.”

Pope Francis resides behind a giagantic stone wall in gated community that does not allow any legal immigration, much less illegal immigrants. Yet, the pontiff has the gall to pontificate about others not being Christian.

I'll take "uncompassionate Popes" for $1,000, Alex. . . .

-6 ( +4 / -10 )

Funny how all these posters are "pro" Pope and anti-Trump. Yet when the Pope and Catholic church scorn/criticize the whole LGBT issue, these posters suddenly have a different opinion than the Pope. Oh my! the hypocrisy.

Personally, I like this pope, for the same reason a lot of people like Trump - he's not afraid to speak his mind. He's criticized the people in his own church a lot too.

That said, I'm most definitely not pro-catholic, or pro-church. Or pro-religion even. Quite the opposite. I hold many different opinions from the pope and the church.

But that doesn't mean I'm doing to disagree with him/them when hey/they are right. And in this case, he's right.

5 ( +9 / -4 )

Because if you agree with a person on one point, you have to agree with him on everything, absolutely everything, cos otherwise you're a hypocrite?

In Binaryland there is no grey, there is no complexity. It's a place where Emerson's 'a foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds' is viewed as dangerous, even heretical by the little minds that dwell therein.

I'll take "uncompassionate Popes" for $1,000, Alex. . . .

I'll take wounded WASP's for $10,000...

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

And the members of the Republican party heard the call to appeal to Hispanics and fell flat on their faces.

By demanding the borders be closed? Damn them for standing up to the rule of law. Heartless people!

Immigration reform would help, but the GOP blocked a passable vote because the Tea Party demanded that no deal be made.

Because they don't trust this president because he has a tendency and history that suggests he would never try to close our borders and that if he hands out more entitlements to illegals and whenever, if ever, they become legalized citizens, they would become NEW Democratic voters, because the party of food stamps only cares about one thing, increasing the base by any means necessary.

-4 ( +5 / -9 )

Who cares?!

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

@bass4funk

Warispeace

Why should Trump have the "right to judge or tell people what they are what they aren't," which he uses all the time, and not the Pope?

bass4funk

Maybe because Trump is a US citizen speaking to US citizens.

So following your logic are you suggesting that US leaders or would-be leaders should not express opinions on anything that happens beyond their borders?

6 ( +8 / -2 )

The theory that The Donald is actually a Democrat is sounding more and more plausible. Goodbye GOP till at least 2025. Unless you can come up with some more inspirational, well spoken and believable leaders, the Dems will be in charge for decades......and rightfully so.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

The theory that The Donald is actually a Democrat is sounding more and more plausible.

Even I wonder about this. Can he really be that over the top?

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Man who routinely breaks multiple commandments in personal life, supports policies that clearly run counter to most important bits of the bible in public life, shocked to have his faith questioned by religious leader. Details at 11.

With this post, it just shows you know nothing about what it means to be a Christian. The very fact that a person with all of those faults, can come to one of the Pope's priests and confess his sins and all is forgiven, and go right back out there and do the same thing again and repeat the process over and over again. Otherwise, some of those very same people that they are claiming they are trying to save can never reach salvation.

Not to get too religious, and I am not a Catholic, the Pope could have said that Trump's rhetoric does not meet Catholic teachings, but it wouldn't matter to Trump because he is not a Catholic, and the Pope doesn't have any say on what type of Christian someone is, especially if they don't follow his religion. He can certainly say that they aren't being very Catholic if they are of that faith, but he has no authority to declare non-Catholics what their actions should be.

Bottom line, if Trump said that we should beat and behead illegal immigrants then he would have a point. I find it funny that he didn't address the issue on Mexico's southern border with Central America, and how the Mexican authorities harshly treat immigrants from that area in Mexico and heaven forbid doesn't offer any services to them. That would be wrong to bring that out.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

Strangerland: Even I wonder about this. Can he really be that over the top?

The phone call he had with Bill (Clinton) prior to throwing his hat in the ring was reported in the media. (Aide?) claimed the call was aboveboard, of course.

I rather think that Trump is the Clintons' way of locking down and sealing tight her claim to history in 2016.

Shocked by Obama in 2008 ... no length too far ...

They may find the monster they have constructed is difficult to control, come the general election.

Unless they've got a secret hold on him!!!

His beloved lovechild locked in a basement in upstate NY, à la the shogun's hostage ... or a radio-controlled bomb in his belly ... or ? ...

Someone should make this into a drama ...

Getting a bit World Net Daily there, but remember: Every swindler needs a swindlee, and and astoundingly large number of GOP members have been very willing to swallow Trump whole.

"Kim Davis was right for refusing to issue a same-sex marriage license. She was Christian Right. & I'll bet my bottom $DOLLAR the Pope would AGREE with Kim Davis. Thank you-"

Interesting idea. It's okay to break the law based on religious conviction but the Pope is way out of line for what he said based on his religious conviction. Can you imagine the Fox monkey cage if a Muslim refused to do something out of religious conviction?

I'm no fan of this Pope, any Pope or any other religious figure but I do remember him saying "Who am I to judge?" on the question of homosexuality. It sounds like the others in the Vatican got their frocks in an almighty twist over this and made sure the homophobic line was kept and the Pope had to clarify the Vatican stance. So, left to his own conscience, maybe you'd lose that bottom dollar.

The GOP - the party which believes in punishing law-breaking ( unless, of course, they think Jesus thinks it's alright to break it ).

" The theory that The Donald is actually a Democrat is sounding more and more plausible. "

I think he is actually someone who speaks his mind, which includes a lot of un-PC truth but also a lot of nonsense, but which is a totally refreshing contrast to the glib politico-robots of the two big parties with their list of talking points, plus their fan crowds.

So he has both democrats, the Republican establishment, and the media flummoxed, and they all hate him. And the most infuriating thing is, big lobbies can´t buy him off because is rich.

It like someone opened the window and let fresh air into that smoky back room of rigged US politics I love it,

FizzBit: I listened to the recording and didn't get that Hillary was mocking the girl.

Not "mocking the girl". They're two different events. One is the affidavit victim-shaming the girl. The other is her laughing about getting the perp off with a light sentence.

And maybe someday a lib will address it. After all, we have to read post after post of much lighter stuff re conservative candidates.

That it's old news in the mediasphere doesn't mean it won't be brought up during the general election campaign. Maybe Bernie's too nice to flog the issue for the primaries, and the Republicans are just saving it for later.

"close our borders and that if he hands out more entitlements to illegals and whenever" Don't forget Reagan inked 3M green card amnesty. Now that is a christian president. Very giving and this is what Jesus would want. This shows that the Republicans are the party of Jesus and the Democrats are the party of the Devil.

"Mr. Pope, tear down those Vatican Walls!!! Similar to what a great man once said. Way to go Wolfpack." That's his personal living space.

"mexican immigrants from hopping the border then the Christian Right should be "doing it."". . . . and some say we don't need a wall. (sheesh-)" Don't forget that Jeb said illegal immigration is reversing.

"Just goes to show the Pope needs to stick with the religion thing and not poke his nose in politics. He acts too much like a politician instead of a pontiff." But the republicans are going for religious freedom. They started this.

"There are enough illegals already." It's reversing on its own.

No. You're just conditioned into thinking that leaders need to be polite.

Actually, the majority do.

For most Americans living near the border states, the border is more of a central issue than anything else, including religion.

Is this called excommunication?

By the way, is it important for Donald Trump to be a Christian and if so why, in a country of separation of state and religion? When was the last time when he went to a Church on Sunday?

You're just conditioned into thinking that leaders need to be polite.

Good point. It's perfectly normal to lie constantly, but oh no, they should never be impolite...

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

Isn't this interesting -

Trump reacted sharply to the reports at first, saying it was “disgraceful” for a religious leader to question an individual’s faith and suggested the Pope had been misled by the Mexican government during his trip.

Addressing the drama in the town hall that same evening, Trump softened his tone toward the Pope.

“I have a lot of respect for the Pope. I think he was very much misinterpreted … and given false information,” he said. “I think he said something much softer than was originally reported by the media.” http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016/feb/19/donald-trump-confronted-with-past-support-for-iraq-war

No backtracking at all there, then.

"I think you are referring to the minority fringe that believe that."

According to Pew, only 43% of Republicans accept evolution. I'm not talking about a minority fringe. This is why GOP candidates get all flustered when asked this and either deny or deflect ( Bush believes in evolution but doesn't think it should be taught in schools.....). Even Jindall, a scholar with a science background, couldn't be honest about it. Acceptance would alienate the crackpots and denial would make the candidates look like complete crackpots - that's why they punt.

If it were a fringe minority, this question wouldn't be a problem. It's quite shocking when the Catholic Church is more up to date with its thinking than the majority of people in a 21st century political party in a secular democracy.

The GOP is heading the way of the dinosaurs who were too big to get on Noah's Ark. You'd better hope that this party eventually joins the 21st century.

According to Pew, only 43% of Republicans accept evolution.

Funny thing with that report is, there is no breakdown on which segment of Republicans believe that, you have the Libertarian wing, the moderates, the establishment and the Evangelicals, but Pew wants to lump all Republicans together? Sorry, but even Pews can be skewed depending on the individual taking it. You can accept it, look deeper into it or reject it. I respect Pew, they are USUALLY great, but every now and then, they hit a bump in the road and this is one of those times.

I'm not talking about a minority fringe.

I am. But I'll tell you what, I'll concede that 43% of all Republicans accept revolution if you will concede that 45% of Democrats are Proud socialists.

This is why GOP candidates get all flustered when asked this and either deny or deflect ( Bush believes in evolution but doesn't think it should be taught in schools.....).

If that is what he believes, that's his right and choice, so what?

The GOP ShiaTea falls all over itself to welcome Netanyahu, but the Pope? "Mind Your Own Business!"

The Pope doesn't have to worry about radical Jihadists going to the Vatican and trying to kill him.

"B. Hussien obama is a whimp." He is still your commander in chief soldier and you must obey his commands. What's wrong with visiting Cuba?

Well, I hope we've all learned something here, which is that everyone is Christian who claims they are Christian unless they are a Democrat, in which case they are Muslim or atheist (either professed or closeted). Class dismissed!

1 ( +3 / -2 )

The Pope should stay out of politics. Politics are worldly things. Religions are divine things. Did not Jesus himself say, "I am not of this world" ?

Religions are not "divine things". Religions are human constructs (i.e. "worldly things") attempting to answer basic questions regarding why we are here and reassure us with little white lies that there's a reason we are here besides random chance. That's why religiously-active people resist the concept of evolution so much. If religions were truly "divine things", there would only be ONE religion for every God that may be up there. Considering most religions state the existence of only ONE God, if religion was truly divine, then that God would only allow the one true religion to exist. The fact that there are hundreds of religions out there gives lie to the idea that religions have any sort of divine intervention associated with them. They are created by humans, for humans, rise and fall based on what is in vogue that century. Any divine being(s) probably laugh out loud at our hubris in thinking we could possibly know what a divine being thinks, wants, or that the divine being even cares one iota about what the inhabitants of one of many planets the divine being seeded does or does not do. We are nothing more than a culture being grown in a Petri dish to a divine being. It's human arrogance that believes a divine being would care about our individual lives. Souls and the supposed battle between God and the Devil over them? Get real. According to most religions, the Devil is a creation of God. In that case, no battle exists. If God wanted all the souls, he'd just take them. Ergo, God doesn't consider souls important enough to take. It is HUMANS that assign value to souls, not God.

Of course, this is all derived from the writings of humans and as I alluded to before, religions rely on the belief that "divine intervention" guided the hands of the multitude of authors that wrote, edited, and deleted the hundreds of associated documents that combined to make up the current religious texts. If so, why are there so many differences?

No. Religions are the original form of "crowd-control". "Do what I say because I have received a command from God!" "If you fail to heed my words, God will cast you into the fires of Hell!" "I will be forced to enact God's punishment on you for being a heretic/infidel!" (I guess God is incapable of doing that on his own, eh?) "Do not question my authority!"

Republicans are so funny: the Pope says:"I am not telling you who to vote for. I am saying building walls between people is not a Christian thing to do."

Republicans hear: "I am telling you who to vote for."

Notice how the Christian-thing-to-do suddenly vanishes? Now that's some powerful Right WIng Magic Trick.

Cause we all know the parable of the Illegal Samaritan. That's the one were Jesus says "For you always have the poor with you. Unless until you build that big, beautiful wall to keep them out." Its a classic.

When asked "Oh, Lord, how can this be? For you have said:

'For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.' Matthew, 26 - 11.

Jesus replies: "Oh, forget about all that woosie lib crap. There are too many freakin' Samaritans pouring in, taking our jobs, sticking to themselves, not learning Aramaic, and generally just being foreign."

And that the both political hacks of both parties, the mainstream media, AND the islamists, AND now the pope gang up on bashing him speaks all in his favour.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

"NO idea that Christians had to live EXACTLY according to the Bible and follow it word for word" No, it has to be followed exactly. Proof: Jesus healed the sick. Remember? I saw it on at TV movie many years ago. That is why the Republicans invented ObamaCare. The Commandments say "thou shalt not steal" and President Obama stole the idea of ObamaCare from the Republicans which makes Obama a great sinner. This makes the Democrats a bunch of stealing sinners while the Republicans are generous people who will go to heaven after they die. So it is word-for-word for the Bible. If not then it makes you a sinning Democrat. You must follow the Bible word-for-word.

Because the Republican party must be destroyed. You are helping him do that.

You are helping put another Democrat into the White House, who will appoint more liberal justices.

Because the Republican party must be destroyed. You are helping him do that.

Throw in the Democrats in that mix while you're at it.

You are helping put another Democrat into the White House, who will appoint more liberal justices.

If that were true then you'd like Sanders. But I suspect he isn't enough of a bigoted sexist for the "I like it when he speaks his mind" Trump supporters.

For the most part, Sanders is honest except for his disingenuous stance on robbing Paul to give to Peter knowing that will never come to fruition.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

"By the way, how would Bernie pay for his massive entitlements?" Get everyone to pay for their fair share for Medicare (for all). You are in Japan and a Japanese citizen now, right Bass? Because you said you vote in Japan and you have to be a Japanese citizen to do that. So you have Japan's single payer system and you use it if you get sick. Of course it won't work the same exact way in the USA, but if everyone who could pay does pay in the USA then it will be much better for the middle class. Mandate does not equal free. I don't care about anything else in the USA, I just want to standardize the US healthcare system for catastrophic medical coverage so hospitals get burned less from unpaid bills - and big hospitals LIKE Obamacare, compared to what is was like before ObamaCare.

Trump's ruination is all at his own hand.

Trump's condemnation of the Pope was his own choice.

Trump is dismantling any cohesion which a healthy government, and society, benefits from.

Trump has proved what the public sees again and again; he is a crude and unstable person.

Trump fans wrap themselves in victimhood but, in the end, it's Trump who has destroyed his own brand with his continued foolish and insulting proclamations.

The Oval Office isn't the place to learn civilized manners and it's Trump who has proved he is completely incapable of the judgement and temperament necessary for the President of the United States.

He and Obama have A LOT in common.

Trump's condemnation of the Pope was his own choice.

So how do you feel Obama snubbing Scalia's funeral and going off to Cuba, I think that is far more important than getting all worked up what this Pope said.

Trump is dismantling any cohesion which a healthy government, and society, benefits from.

That's already been done for the last 7 years.

Trump has proved what the public sees again and again; he is a crude and unstable person.

After 7 years, why do you think we even have a Trump, even a Bernie for that matter??

Trump fans wrap themselves in victimhood but, in the end, it's Trump who has destroyed his own brand with his continued foolish and insulting proclamations.

Equally sad, every young naive person, especially the youth that think Sanders can bring them so called income restorative justice, disingenuous and its just going to make these socialists look more foolish.

The Oval Office isn't the place to learn civilized manners and it's Trump who has proved he is completely incapable of the judgement and temperament necessary for the President of the United States.

Obama destroyed the dignity of the White House and walked all over the presidency and democracy and the people, walked over the presidential seal and constitution.

What an insult to all Americans Trump has proved to be.

As well as Obama and the Democrats, don't forget to add that to that long list.

I happen to think Donald Trump is class-A jerk. But the Pontiff has no business injecting himself in the politics of the United States. We have a separation of Church and State, and a non-American religious leader who has great influence over so many American citizens has no grounds to influence the outcome of our election process. Sorry, but if Mexico were doing better, you wouldn't have huge problems with the Cartels, especially Los Zetas, Tijuana and the Sinaloa Cartels, the drugs are still coming in, Mexico is doing absolutely nothing to curb and stop these thugs, more and more people are dying, so they may not be coming AS much, but the internal problems are still blending into American politics.

It's about Trump being not a good Christian, according to the Pope. That's what Popes have been doing for ages. That's what they do.

That is the issue: The Pope is calling out Trump's nativist demagoguery and calling it un-Christian.

And while I am not a Christian, I think he may have a point there.

So calm down. Quit stamping your little Republican feet and deal with the real issue:

Right wing policies are un-Christian. RIght wing economics which put money before people is un-Christian. RIght wing nativist racism tears people apart. That is un-Christian. Right wing war mongering is not what the Prince of Peace is about.

Right wingers are bad Christians.

And while I am not a Christian, I think he may have a point there.

How so?

So calm down. Quit stamping your little Republican feet and deal with the real issue:

I think libs are just angry because Trump is doing the exact opposite and not kissing *** and that infuriates you guys.

Right wing policies are un-Christian.

Left wing policies are UN-American.

RIght wing economics which put money before people is un-Christian.

But without money, you can't buy food, clothes, have a roof over your head.

RIght wing nativist racism tears people apart.

So why do liberals tread in it always?

That is un-Christian. Right wing war mongering is not what the Prince of Peace is about.

This is beyond religion, it's just basic human commonsense.

Right wingers are bad Christians.

Left Wingers are bad politicians-period.

The Pope is calling you all out on that.

Not all Christians are Catholic or follow Catholicism, therefore for many Christians, he's message is meaningless.

So suck on that, Republicans.

What?

" the drugs are still coming in," By Ameicans

". . . And what about the central americans. They don't want to return. And they're usually the most violent ones with low reputations." Go on. What are some of their reported crimes?

"may not be coming AS much" Then why do you keep saying that? Mexico is improving, but you keep saying the number of illegals is increasing exponentially.

"Left wing policies are UN-American." Like Regan's with 3M green card amnesty and the Conservatives with the inventin of ObamaCare? And Trump is going to raise taxes (how is Obama's tax record?)

Anyone that thinks the border, Mexico and the criminals and government officials that allow this to happen and have willing their heads in the sand and ignore this are so grossly misguided, delusional and unwilling to see the truth for what mess and bad shape that country and our borders are regarded of what they might think or want you to believe.

That movie was so intense, great and accurate.

The net immigration from Mexico has been reversing for quite some time now. But GOP lawmakers need to keep up the tough talk and looking at the realities on the ground dont help so it's ignored.

As for the border states, Bush, Rubio, Flake (AZ Senator) and MCain supported the bipartisan bill on immigration that the hardliners GOP members in non border states blocked. Which is one of the many reasons why the GOP struggles with Latinos so much. Furthermore, the bill wouldn't take effect until Republicans signed off that the border was sealed to their satisfaction, putting the control in their hands. That brings up another GOP fallacy, the one where they say they don't trust Obama. Obama had no say in the matter. It's all just a big smoke screen to draw attention away from the fact that the GOP can't agree amongst themselves therefore the only thing they can do is block any change on the matter and point their finger at Obama.

It ties in with the Republican gameplan on several issues. We need voter Id's to stop voter fraud which doesn't exist to any real extent as confirmed by every study ever done, even by the GOP. We need to shut down Planned Parenthood in order to stop federal funding for abortions which does not exist. We need to block Syrian refugees since there is no vetting process, although there is. They need to bring back torture to get information that studies show never comes or was already obtained. We need religious freedom laws because the imaginary problem of rabbis being forced to perform a gay Christian ceremony, something that has never happend.

They are held hostage by their own tough talk that can't be changed once it starts.

The net immigration from Mexico has been reversing for quite some time now.

Gives us another update when all illegal aliens have decided to respect America by returning home and applying to re-enter through legal means.

It's easy for the Pope to shoot his mouth off about what America should do. But what about the Pope? He has a huge wall around his city. Has he taken in any poor refugees from the Middle East? No, not a one. His church owns literally hundreds of billions in artwork and real estate yet none of this wealth is ever used to help the poor. He talks a lot about the burden America should assume to help the poor but somehow fails to see the irony of the wall protecting him and the churchs hoarding of its treasures. Pope Francis is better off shutting his trap about borders and sacrifice - he is the pot calling the kettle black.

The last I heard there is still at least 11 million foreign nationals still living in the US (and not all from Mexico of Latin American counties). It took 30 years to get into this situation and it will likely take another 30 get them out. Seal the border and work the problem. We can restore America's sovereignty and respect for the rule of law if we all work together. I can wait for the problem to be completely under control but it is past time we get started.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

"Gives us another update when all illegal aliens have decided to respect America by returning home and applying to re-enter through legal means." Impossible to speed this up and the Republicans know this. That is why Reagan inked 3M green card amnesty. And why all the obsession with the border? It can't be built 100%. Read about it. It's too long, and some terrain makes it impractical as well as other important problems. Some people have been watching too many Jurassic Park movies. Anyway there will be many more from Asia, including lots of illegal stays. Asians immigrants will far outnumber hispanic ones in the future, for better or worse. You would need to build a bubble over the US. Illegal immigration from south is reversing. Jeb Bush said this. Besides, you like cheap watermelons, right? These illegals do jobs that Americans (1) won't and (2)-(even if they tried- can't.

"Seal the border and work the problem." You need to shut down the airports or greencard them like with Reagan.

"The last I heard there is still at least 11 million foreign nationals" One out of 30, not too bad.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

We can restore America's sovereignty and respect for the rule of law if we all work together.

Like proposing a bipartisan immigration bill with the votes to pass that the GOP blocks from holding a vote on?

It's easy for the Pope to shoot his mouth off about what America should do. But what about the Pope? He has a huge wall around his city. Has he taken in any poor refugees from the Middle East?

Exacty. The Pope would never do that, he's ALL talk -kinda' like some politicians.

The net immigration from Mexico has been reversing for quite some time now.

I don't see it. In LA, there are @least "50" of these illegals (on any given day) waiting in front of the Home Depos for day labor. They urininate in the parking lot and toot in Spanish when they see attractive women walk by. So low class.

Some states are even issuing them Drivers License. Its complete nonsense.

Go to your local Prefectural "unten menkyo" . . . . . (here in Japan) If you're illegal and totally undocumented, the japanese will REFUSE you a license and you'll probably be deported.

-1 ( +4 / -4 )

The net immigration from Mexico has been reversing for quite some time now. But GOP lawmakers need to keep up the tough talk and looking at the realities on the ground don't help so it's ignored.

To a point that's true, but that has nothing to do with closing the border OR illegals from other parts of Latin America and other countries even terrorists from coming in.

As for the border states, Bush, Rubio, Flake (AZ Senator) and MCain supported the bipartisan bill on immigration that the hardliners GOP members in non border states blocked.

Now you know what so many want Trump or Cruz.

Which is one of the many reasons why the GOP struggles with Latinos so much. Furthermore, the bill wouldn't take effect until Republicans signed off that the border was sealed to their satisfaction, putting the control in their hands.

Yes, to control the flow of illegal immigration, what part of illegal do libs NOT understand?

That brings up another GOP fallacy, the one where they say they don't trust Obama. Obama had no say in the matter.

No, Obama had a lot to say, don't lie now. Obama NEVER in his sorry and pitiful soon to be 8 years EVER tried to seal off the border, put every and all resources that he has at his disposal to make sure NO one can come through the porous borders. He has a pen, he loves to use his executive orders, but now he doesn't have control? Yeah, I knew the man was hopeless, but useless....

It's all just a big smoke screen to draw attention away from the fact that the GOP can't agree amongst themselves therefore the only thing they can do is block any change on the matter and point their finger at Obama.

A dramatic spike in unaccompanied children and families trying to slip in across the U.S.-Mexico border may be "the new normal," officials say, with some believing the surge is linked to a federal ruling that ended long-term detentions.

The number of apprehensions of unaccompanied minors and family units — legal guardians with children under 18 — rushing the nation's southwestern border peaked last year, then fell off as Obama tapped the Federal Emergency Management Agency to figure out what to do about the young refugees.

But in recent months, apprehensions have proliferated again: More than 10,000 undocumented children have been stopped in just the last two months, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

The 10,588 apprehensions are a 106 percent increase over the same Oct. 1 through Nov. 30 period from last year, when 5,129 kids were picked up.

Apprehensions of family units have jumped too, with 12,505 detentions in those two months, representing a 173 percent increase from last year's 4,577 seizures in the same time frame.

This is why Trump is gaining ground and is so dangerous for the libs, because we all know this is an issue that really ticks him off and millions of Americans, the guy can't be bought or stopped and the man if he does become the next president will close that wall, one way or another and that's a huge nightmare for liberals and Dems.

It ties in with the Republican gameplan on several issues. We need voter Id's to stop voter fraud which doesn't exist

Sorry, yes, it does. Every Californian knows this, stop peddling that BS. If it didn't, libs wouldn't even flinch at having IDs for illegals, they would embrace and encourage it and yet, they oppose it, give a million excuses why it's in the figment of their benign minds, a racist thing. But for everything else we need IDs, there is NO difference. Only people with nefarious reasons would object to something sensible as making sure there is absolutely NO one that anyone can cheat the system and libs should applaud it, but we know, liberal logic is worth a can of spit.

to any real extent as confirmed by every study ever done, even by the GOP.

We need to shut down Planned Parenthood in order to stop federal funding for abortions which does not exist.

Another lib myth, but keep telling yourselves that. Action speaks volumes, if it's not true, then Dems don't need to get all worked up and yet, they do. 'nuff said.

We need to block Syrian refugees since there is no vetting process, although there is.

Why take them when the majority of Americans and 32 governors across the country said NO! So you're saying, the people don't have the right to tell the government how we feel, but as long as we vote for these idiotic politicians, then our votes and voices mean something?? Here we go, lib logic working at its worst once again....

They need to bring back torture to get information that studies show never comes or was already obtained.

Khalid Sheik Muhammed and Abu Zubaydah will tell you differently. So that argument is put to rest. For anyone doing a heinous crime as evil as what happened on 9/11 to purposely and is apprehend, most definitely needs to be severely interrogated.

We need religious freedom laws because the imaginary problem of rabbis being forced to perform a gay Christian ceremony, something that has never happened.

If we had religious freedom, Obama and Democrats wouldn't demonize Christianity constantly or it just only applies to other religions?

Like proposing a bipartisan immigration bill with the votes to pass that the GOP blocks from holding a vote on?

Because they have more reason NOT to trust this president, I don't blame them.

They are held hostage by their own tough talk that can't be changed once it starts.

And it won't for another 261 more days!

The last I heard there is still at least 11 million foreign nationals still living in the US (and not all from Mexico of Latin American counties). there are @least "50" of these illegals (on any given day) waiting in front of the Home Depos for day labor.

And you know they're illegal because.....? How do you know they're not just unskilled Americans looking for work?

0 ( +4 / -4 )

We can restore America's sovereignty and respect for the rule of law if we all work together.

And therein lies the problem. For the past seven years, the Republicans have not been interested in working together, they've only been interested in blocking everything Obama.

And for the retaliation that will soon come that Obama hasn't been interested in working with the Republicans, remind me again why Obamacare doesn't have a single-payer option? (hint - the Democrats wanted one).

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

And you know they're illegal because.....?

I was born raised half of my life in Los Angeles, of course I know. Should I compile a long list? It's everywhere! Every job I had as a high school student and in my younger years, there were ALWAYS illegals working in almost every service industry job, hotels etc.

How do you know they're not just unskilled Americans looking for work?

They can be unskilled, but they can't and shouldn't be illegal and my brother is a cop and my sister is a social worker, they do with illegals every single day.

And therein lies the problem. For the past seven years, the Republicans have not been interested in working together, they've only been interested in blocking everything Obama.

No, they have been interested, but they just don't trust this president when it comes to immigration, last year was a huge example of that. Remember, Obama is not Bill Clinton, at least he would meet you in the middle on this issue. Obama is, my way or nothing at all, so the GOP just basically showed him the finger.

And for the retaliation that will soon come that Obama hasn't been interested in working with the Republicans, remind me again why Obamacare doesn't have a single-payer option? (hint - the Democrats wanted one).

Thank God the GOP didn't put their John Hancock on something that has been so toxic. At least they can't be blamed for going along with it, which is another reason they could retake congress.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

Did the GOP ever produce a budget? An immigration plan? An alternative to Obamacare? A plan to seal the border?

And why don't Republican supporters seem to care? I have no reason the stop a good plan. I don't feel a desire to take the other side with Republicans every time, but they never produce anything. If they come up with a better healthcare plan I'll support them, but the thought of an alternative has turned into a running joke. Are they a party that is unable to produce a unified policy anymore?

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

"Every job I had as a high school student" Extrapolating - after reading your personal history - it would be at least 40 years ago. Now you are a Japanese citizen.

"A plan to seal the border?" You can't seal off the border. In the future Asians will outnumber hispanic immigrants anyway and

"An alternative to Obamacare?" They can't because they invented it.

"An immigration plan?" Millions amnesty, like Reagan.

Obama is doing his job sending back many Central Americans. He is a great president.

"If we had religious freedom, Obama and Democrats wouldn't demonize Christianity" Then we should listen to the pope about immigration. The pope said we should open the borders and you disagree while saying Obama demonizes Catholics? And who cares about the Jesus freaks only. How about the Scientologists, Muslims, and Devil worshipers. Jesus was a zombie. Muslims are not allowed to have many wives in the USA- that sounds like lack of religious freedom to me.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

there were ALWAYS illegals working in almost every service industry job, hotels etc... They can be unskilled, but they can't and shouldn't be illegal

So, if the people working alongside you when you were a high school student (which as nishikat points out was many many years ago) were all illegals, how do you know the people lining up outside the Home Depos for day labor aren't legal American citizens who cannot get jobs because the illegals and high school kids have taken them all? Do you believe that SSIA (speaking spanish in america) automatically makes a person illegal?

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

Did the GOP ever produce a budget?

Paul Ryan did, but as usual, the Dems were on a No go, No way, it ain't enough, we need to take more money, sorry, I meant, print more....

An immigration plan?

After this guy is out of office, then sure.

An alternative to Obamacare?

Repeal it, but it and tweak it and make it more affordable without all of the hidden provisions and the out of control costs that are bogging down a lot of people, then maybe more clinics might want to accept it.

A plan to seal the border?

Build a wall, "Pink Floyd" style.

And why don't Republican supporters seem to care?

They care, they just don't care and won't go with policies they know are bad for the country.

I have no reason the stop a good plan. I don't feel a desire to take the other side with Republicans every time, but they never produce anything.

Never anything the Dems are willing to compromise on, but the GOP have to compromise with the Dems, that's what you're saying?

If they come up with a better healthcare plan I'll support them, but the thought of an alternative has turned into a running joke.

As bad as Obamacare has??

Are they a party that is unable to produce a unified policy anymore?

if they have a Republican president they could get more things done, that's for damn sure.

I never said that, but with all due respect to Nishikat, my brother is a cop in the largest L.A district and works in a gang unit I'll take his word, expierence and from what I have witnessed and investigative reporting that I have done in the past, have been on countless of ride alongs and have seen more than enough paperwork and stats from L.A. County city office immigration records, my sister works for child services and deals with mostly women, The majority of them Latin and illegal, so from my background expierences and dealing with my family that work for the city and law enforcement and going by the records I have seen, a large portion of them are illegals, that's what I'm going by.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

it is actually very easy to seal a border = North Korea has been doing it for years. East/West Germany etc. Even Bernie Sanders says these borders are needed to keep the capitalists out and the communist mind clean from the infidels.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

how do you know the people lining up outside the Home Depos for day labor aren't legal American citizens

Cleo. Its like bass says . . . his brother is a cop. He runs into them all the time. Cleo, do you know southern California? Got a few friends? They all might tell you some stories about these, "illegals." Its disgusting!

0 ( +3 / -3 )

"my brother is a cop in the largest L.A district" You are around retirement age so....he is still a cop at his age working the tough streets? I didn't realize that there are active cops like that in their 60s and 70s. Cops can retire in 25 years with full pension so it's amazing that he keeps going like that well after his retirement points have finished. You have an amazing brother. Even if he was your younger brother his age would still be up there for a cop.

"going by the records I have seen" They just let you rummage through records like that? So I can just go and ask the police station to check out arrest reports like you can?

Again Jeb Bush (a very famous politician) said that illegal immigration among hispanics is decreasing. I think I will believe what JB says instead. And he is a Republican.

"that I have done in the past" I thought you were a CEO (and before that in the Military). Why would a CEO or a soldier do news reporting? How did you find all this time in your life to do all these great things you claim? And you have also become a Japanese citizen.

Anyway, JB is very qualified for me to believe that illegal immigration for hispanics is decreasing.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

"that I have done in the past" I thought you were a CEO (and before that in the Military). Why would a CEO or a soldier do news reporting?

Being a Reporter for the Washington Post and NBC were separate job titles he has held.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

They just let you rummage through records like that?

I had a media clearance pass and with special authorized supervised permission.

So I can just go and ask the police station to check out arrest reports like you can.

If you work for the media and you are able to get the same credentials, probably.

Being a Reporter for the Washington Post and NBC were separate job titles he has held.

Exactly.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

Being a Reporter for the Washington Post and NBC were separate job titles he has held.

Don't forget to add pathological liar to the list.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Bass, tell us more about your 60~70-year-old brother who is still an active cop fighting gangs mostly made up of illegal immigrants. This is an amazing story.

I still take JB more seriously and I am convinced his word is the truth about hispanic illegals.

"Exactly" How about when you were CEO? Then we still want to hear about your military career. And why on earth did you want to become a Japanese citizen?

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Don't forget to add pathological liar to the list.

Naw, I'll leave that to Hillary and liberals.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

"Washington Post and NBC" Please post your work from these news sources. And aren't these "liberal' leaning news sources? Why would you work there?

"Naw, I'll leave that to Hillary and liberals." You don't deny lying?

Is JB lying when he says that illegal immigration among hispanics is reversing?

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

Check the faithful arguing against a wall both Hillary and Obama voted for in 2006.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

And therein lies the problem. For the past seven years, the Republicans have not been interested in working together, they've only been interested in blocking everything Obama.

Why should people that oppose illegal immigration work with Obama to keep America's borders open and grant amnesty to millions of unskilled workers from third world nations? Obama likes the status quo because it leads to more Democrat voters. More government dependency means more social programs and more government control of peoples lives.

Like proposing a bipartisan immigration bill with the votes to pass that the GOP blocks from holding a vote on?

Comprehensive immigration reform didn't pass. Get over it already. Instead of issuing executive orders the President and Congress should try incremental reform starting with sealing the border and reforming the broken visa system. Then the country can use the next 30 years removing all of those living here illegally. Every other country in the world doesn't have a problem with having a working immigration system - why should America be any different?

Did the GOP ever produce a budget? An immigration plan? An alternative to Obamacare? A plan to seal the border?

That is a good point. Not passing a budget allows both sides to continue deficit spending and avoiding reform. For immigration the plan was to start with sealing the border first. The GOP actually has many alternatives to Obamacare but you are right, they will not put them up for a vote. I do not think that just Democrats are bad these days, both parties are corrupted by power and the comfort of the status quo.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

The U.S. is generous in its acceptance and treatment of legal immigrants, refugees and even undocumented aliens. My kids' school district spends hundreds of thousands of dollars each year to support migrant children and reach out to their parents to get involved in school events. You don't see Central Americans trying to head south to Argentina or Brazil. And not many try to go beyond the U.S. border into Canada.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

"Obama likes the status quo because it leads to more Democrat voters." Then Republicans are stupid if they don't do the same. Voting is a business. You got to sell sell sell

"The GOP actually has many alternatives to Obamacare" They invented ObamaCare.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

The Pope is the one who jumped the shark! He is a hypocrite for charging someone with actions he himself already supports. I have been to the Vatican and it is a fortress, no refugees are gonna get in past the walls and guards. So maybe president Trump has the idea right. Just do what the Vatican does, charge an entry fee. If you are not a citizen and want to enter the US we'll issue a day-pass for a small fee (money will be used to pay the loan on the new wall).

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

The Pope is the one who jumped the shark! He is a hypocrite for charging someone with actions he himself already supports.

How do you know he supports it? The walls were there before he was ever pope, and he has been very vocal on criticizing the church in the past for its lack of compassion.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

"The Pope is the one who jumped the shark!" All this criticism of the pope just sounds like criticism coming from people who get screwed over by their lovers and they are bitter about it. Maybe I should blame Jesus himself if there is no second coming. Or L. Ron Hubbard if I don't get get success in life from all those expensive Scientology tutorials. Why don't you just not be Christian or any other religion and just take the pope's word as seriously as you would any other church or cult leader. All these evangelical leaders like Ted Haggard said stupid stuff so it's time to decide that you are not even Christian and move on.

Don't worry about the wall. There will always be a wall to a certain extent but it can't be an imaginary fantastic thing you see in a SciFi movie. Mexico is slowing catching up economically and more people want to naturally stay. Same with Cent. America someday. Building a superwall would be a waste of money on an impossible project and cause more problems.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

"The GOP actually has many alternatives to Obamacare" They invented ObamaCare.

And Democrats invented the KKK. So what's your point - that Democrats still support racism? Well, they do support a racial spoils system but most at least don't want to be racist.

The fact that Romney took a study paper from a think tank and in his blue state implemented what the people there wanted is in no way related to a Federal mandate imposed on all states and still not supported by a majority of Americans. No matter how much you want them to support Obama's gift to his crony's in the insurance industry, not a single Republican voted for it. Not a single Republican, nor the Pope, support ObamaCare's attacks against those poor old nuns either.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

The founders the Republicans are so proud of had slaves.

What should we do for non poor people who just don't feel like getting health insurance and are determined to be "freeloaders" (Romney)? Hospitals are sick of getting stiffed. And speaking of that, big hospitals love OC, in fact when the supreme court upheld the law it was good for healthcare stocks. It proves OC is good for the economy.

"is in no way related to a Federal mandate" OK, I understand you wish to get rid of Medicare. I don't agree with you but you have a right to your opinion.

Obama attacks nuns? What?

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Trump built a wall a long time ago... not much getting through.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Good to see this pope speak up.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

@nishikat the Republican party was formed of anti-slavery activists who opposed the Democrat (slavery) Party?

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Pope and Trump are as bad as each other.

Pope goes around pretending to be for the people and enlightened while doing nothing to remedy the pain suffering and poverty that their church spreads around the world. (anti-controception, still anti-LGBT) Just a good PR campaign.

Trump goes around saying whatever he needs to say to make a shock and appeal to the lowest common denominator.

And it should go without saying.. people are free to believe whatever they like but it doesn't belong in government, law or schools.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

@nishikat the Republican party was formed of anti-slavery activists who opposed the Democrat (slavery) Party?

So when did their stances reverse?

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Look at how the Republicans are so obsessed with the female anatomy. I understand their vision of less government and all that. But if I were a normal woman (not someone like Kim Davis) I would not vote Republican anything. I want to like the Republican party but they are obsessed with stupid stuff these days that has nothing to do with the country's well being.

R vs. D is simply flavor of the month club. Look at all these Republican loons in the poor south like Bobby Jindal. Some might say that if Lincoln were alive today he might be a Democrat, he was very smart. In fact he was very good with technology which helped him win the civil war. He was Bill Gates-like (who is more of a Liberal).

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

TRUMP will build a wall around the USA under the pretext to protect but one morning, US citizen will wake up and realize they are all in a gigantic prison with guards and towers.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

@nishikat Kim Davis is a Democrat. Sorry. People keep bringing up Reagan and his amnesty, but leave out that it was step one of a grand bargain with the Democrats where the border would be secured. Forty years later, and we're still waiting for the liberals to live up to their end of the deal.
