A rich woke princess makes a play at victimhood and Harry allows himself to be lead into a media shark frenzy and their popularity plummets! Who would have guessed ay?

Most people instinctively know that family matters are to be dealt with internally, discretely and privately if they are ever to be resolved. You have to wonder what they were thinking?

Another example of badly thought out tainted actions making things much , much worse. Sign of the immature times.

Probably no surprise to Markle's step sister, who wrote a book ("The Diary of Princess Pushy’s Sister Part 1.") alleging that Markle is a pampered manipulative liar, among a host of other nasty traits.

This crap isn't newsworthy...

What I would like to know is what was the purpose of the interview? If they were being held captive by the royal family and this was their only way to make a break, ok, I could understand it. But they were out! They had made their split and are in the US to start the new lives. So why now throw fire bombs at your family? Was it just to raise their profiles in the US? Was it for money? They had to know the blowback they would receive for this. Whomever is advising them made a glaring miscalculation.

their son was not granted a royal title unlike all of the other royal babies.

Not true. Plenty of ‘royal’ babies have no title.

And why would H&M want titles anyway, if they want out of the royalty thing?

On 8 January 2020, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, announced on Instagram[3][4][5][6][7] their decision to "step back as 'senior' members" of the royal family,[8] split their time between the United Kingdom and North America, and become financially independent.

Who cares. Another day in wonderland royalty.

@mariasjapan

That’s a sweeping statement, can you explain this further? Is it because of one alleged comment about the colour of their unborn child’s skin?

I think the word ‘racist’ gets bandied about too easily these days.

And why is Meghan a ‘black’ bride? Is she not part black and part Caucasian?

This shouldn't be big news in Japan.

I'll comment on it because I'm British, and my belief is that even in the UK, the story is much bigger than it should be, but is so because it feeds into a (tiresome and damaging) old traditional vs. modern multicultural ("PC", "woke", whatever) culture war. This war is being fought because it sells newspapers, talk radio shows, and distracts people from the ever growing inequality in Britain, a country where home ownership is falling and poverty (in the form of food banks) is increasing.

We my wife was pregnant people asked how Japanese or Western they would look, and honestly, so did we. We were not offended.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

The baby’s color was probably an innocent comment but MM has to present it in a way that has the maximum shock value....so we can see Oprah’s well rehearsed jaw drop.

The Uk press has been objectively racist in their coverage pre and post interview.

Please link to examples of this. I'm guessing you can't as it's completely untrue.

@Zichi

wife of King George III, Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz was the queen consort from their marriage on 8 September 1761 until her death in 1818.

She was not black that was just a theory of a historian called Mario de Valdes y Cocom

Research it a bit more rather than just post it Willy Nilly

Please stop reporting on this rubbish.

The facts are that Markle is a narcissistic, bullying, manipulative, scrounging, attention-seeking, mendacious sociopath (as I have written before) and Harry is a brainwashed fool. Both are absolute non-entities and their personal matters are of no concern to anyone in the real world.

Is this your proof of racism? A buzzfeed throwaway piece. Lol. There is also no indication of racism in this piece, only proof that Middleton is more favoured in the press than Markle.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Whether you want to call it bias, racism, nationalism, bigotry, cognitive dissonance, or prejudice is up to you.

Mmm, no.

You provided the link as evidence of objective racism against Meghan by the UK press. The link gave no such evidence. At all.

One of the descriptions by the same Anglophiles, Brits, and some racists on these articles is "liar".

She is a liar. She cried out for ‘privacy’ then went looking for publicity. She and Harry claimed they wanted to be financially independent, then wailed on screen that Charles had ‘cut them off’.

Meghan and Harry are living a life of unparalleled comfort and luxury, courtesy of the UK taxpayer.

BS. They are not getting anything from the UK taxpayer

Seriously do people really believe the members of the royal family are all saints. The royal family is just like another other ordinary family (with lots of money). Members quarrels, back stabs etc. You can say H & M should cope it or should speak out. Just depends on which side you are on.

His whole theory is based on "she looks black in paintings of her"

During the interview aired last Sunday, Meghan said her pleas for help while she felt suicidal were ignored and that one unnamed member of the family had asked how dark their son Archie’s skin might be.

I see mishaps or turn-offs here in her approach. First, "feel suicidal" could be interpreted as intimidation. Second, it's a bit sneaky not to spell out someone racist, for she is randomly attacking even innocent people at the Palace.

All in all, I think that familial matters could have been handled privately, preferably in an earlier phase. If the couple are to address royal racism they would better do so without interview money.

@zichi

He claims that the queen, though German, was directly descended from a black branch of the Portuguese royal family, related to Margarita de Castro e Souza, a 15th-century Portuguese noblewoman nine generations removed

Nine Generations removed and from an illegitimate son of an African mistress (not documented)

His evidence is weak.

I don’t know much about the royals but the reality is that racism is a rife and that’s undeniable!

please provide undeniable proof of this statement.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

Meghan is Meghan. That’s just who she is. I blame Harry for trashing his family.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Unfortunately this is very common thinking in Britain. Blame the accusers and support the people who made the comments

Can you give us some examples? I’m a Brit and could write you an epic of my moans about the UK, but I’ve never come across this as a common ill.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

The assumption of racism at a glance is by far more damaging , polarizing and infuriating to the vast majority of well meaning folk that have lived their lives treating everyone with respect and dignity. It’s an affront to our better natures and the irony is that it becomes a new form that f racism in reverse.

Perverse, psychotic, combative and neurotic. You wanna end racism? Stop obsessing about it. People are awesome.

If there is little current positive reaction to Harry and Megan from the UK public, I would be wary of polling, I have lost a sizable amount gambling on projections based on private polling predictions.

We all change are minds on our reaction to daily media broadcasts.

At least a debate is in full swing, focusing on the necessity for subservience of the people acceptance to the theory of their place within society. It is frankly outrageous.

The Interview, highlighted one undeniable fact, one’s status, opportunities, the right to a quality education, are not sacrosanct from birth.

Harry threw a petulant strop because he could not achieve his believed equal status, and recognition within the House of Windsor.

This attitude is engrained in Harry upbringing, entitlement/privilege.

This fact rolls down through society, inferiority for many is set from the moment are born.

Harry faints pettish indifference, an inward-looking inconsiderate realization that wealth, and the perceived monied affluence that provides.

The accusations of racism are a political red herring.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

I don't know first they said something about privacy and then going to see Oprah.

Said that they wanted normal life for Archie so no tittle to him, now omg he got no tittle because he may be darker.

talked to the plebs how to act more eco-friendly when using private jets.

well...

even 2nd and 3rd child of William and Kate weren't supposed to have tittle. The Queen made exception for them. So Harry's kids are out of question and they said they don't want one.

When biracial kid is about to be born it's always about: will he looks more like mom or dad? My personal experience. Will European genes beat the Caribbean's...we talked about it, we joked about it. It's normal. BUT I guess depends on context. Can't help it but feeling this goes perfectly fine with BLM agenda.

I wonder if without these claims someone would even bother to watch them...you know everyone is here for the drama...

3 ( +4 / -1 )

There is also no indication of racism in this (buzzfeed) piece, only proof that Middleton is more favoured in the press than Markle.

Exactly. I wasted several minutes of my life scouring the link and while there was obvious ‘Kate good - Meghan bad’ bias, I saw no racism.

Unless the new definition of racism is ‘any and all criticism of a person who happens to have a drop of non-white blood’.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

This war is being fought because it sells newspapers, talk radio shows, and distracts people from the ever growing inequality in Britain, a country where home ownership is falling and poverty (in the form of food banks) is increasing.

Thumbs up. I’d like to think the public could refocus on these issues after this falls out of the headlines, but I’m not confident.

Giving a crap about people living in sub-standard housing and having to humiliate themselves by going to food banks ( some of them working people ) seems to be a bit unfashionable these days.

whom Valdes takes to have been a Moor and thus a black African."

The biggest leap in this theory seems to be the assumption that Moor = Black African. A Moor was any North African Muslim. Some were probably Black, but the overwhelming majority would have been native Berbers and Arabs, just like today. They would be indistinguishable from other Mediterranean peoples.

That line must have been Leslie Neilsen a quiet chuckle, seeing as he was Canadian...

Among the youngest age group, support for an elected head of state was higher than that for the monarchy by 42% to 37%, although YouGov said this was within the margin of error.

I don't see the point of switching to having an elected head of state if it were to be a mostly ceremonial role like the one the monarch has at the moment. If we didn't end up with a succession of retired MPs, peers and civil servants appointed by Parliament to be president, we would presumably have to go to the bother of having national elections for a mostly powerless figurehead. The alternative would be to completely change the whole system and give an elected head of state some actual power, and I don't think anyone's too keen o that.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Numan, my opinion. not a fact you understand, accusations of alleged, racist overtones directed at a senior member of the Royal Family, is wholly dependent on context, and the manner in which that assumption is interpreted.

The interview.

May I suggest is a means to an end, in doing so that accusation under the circumstances, Harry and Meghan bitter acrimonious withdrawal from the Royal duties could be the motivation that lead to a need to spuriously extract retribution.

So, in the past two weeks Meghan Markle has forced the Daily Mail into printing a front page apology and pay her damages, exposed the royal family to a global audience and driven Piers Morgan to quit his job.

This is really top work. The American can-do spirit lives on!

I hope that Harry and Meghan are able to find peace and safety in California.

What's all the fuss about skin color? Africa was the original home of our species. It's a breathtaking continent and anyone who experiences the place will, with a little imagination, feel a deep emotion akin to that of a homecoming. BTW, unlike the "German" Windsor family, but like other national families, Britain is still "very much a racist country". However, because of the unique trajectory of their national history, most do make an effort not to insult or mistreat people who are not "white". As a Jew who fled Nazi persecution once put it:

There is something very special about the British soul. If you mine deep enough into it, underneath the usual layers of frailty and stupidity, then you strike a richer load of fairness and humanity than in any other nation.

I hope there is still a chance for Meghan to discover this one day. On the other hand, class in the UK remains the vexing social problem that has never been seriously addressed by the minority who rule the roost and it will not be so easy for American glitz to mix.

0 ( +5 / -5 )

I'm more surprised by the black reaction than anything else. Meghan should've never married Prince Harry if she wasn't expecting something like this to eventually come up, and the same goes for Harry. Prince Harry is not just a blue blood but of the bluest blood. If he'd have married my daughter, the Royals would all be trash talking about my ancestors having been murderous American revolutionaries, farmers and Cherokee Indians. Would I have complained? No, because I would have expected all of that before the marriage took place. To be a member of Great Britain's Royal Family requires a certain element of abnormality because these people are not normal. They live in a very tiny golden fish bowl. Powerful, yes, but a very tiny fish bowl. Lady Diana probably would've agreed with that.

Thanks for that link. I've seen it before but couldn't remember where the link was. Absolutely obvious the double standards here. No surprise when it comes to the Daily Mail.

Who knows why MM cut off triple-chin Morgan. Maybe she found out he was into and boasted about phone hacking. Maybe she found out why he was fired from a tabloid newspaper and that he didn't apologize for publishing fake Iraqi war photos. Maybe she was told to cut him off since she was seeing a royal. Or maybe she just wasn't interested in an old guy like him. But he's shown himself to be thin-skinned and can't take no from a woman. But this guy also acted as if he lived in Buck Palace. I don't think we'll ever know what really happened.

The situation is so bad that the Mail Online abandoned articles about coronavirus and the economy weeks ago. The last time I looked it was just this Meghan Markle hate campaign and stories about Trump's family.

And the attempts to distract people from the Tories catastrophic failures actually seem to be rebounding as more young people are turning against the royal family and supporting an elected head of state.

LOL! What a joke!

Harry and Meghan's popularity is equivalent to the embarrassment the royals and real "Britons" (we know the demographics) feel for being exposed in public.

Harper's Bazaar royal reporter Omid Scobie revealed part of the email that Meghan wrote to royal aides when they asked Prince Harry to cosign a statement squashing rumors that Prince William "constantly bullied” the Sussexes before they stepped down from senior royal duties. According to Scobie's source, Meghan wrote: "Well, if we're just throwing any statement out there now, then perhaps KP can finally set the record straight about me [not making Kate cry.]"

Scobie reports that "as with many requests made by the couple, her suggestion was ignored" and she was told the Duchess of Cambridge "should never be dragged into idle gossip."

Meghan got receipts proving her story is true!

Her truths got a court order to get a British tabloid make a front page apology, exposed the royal family, and got the bigoted idiot Piers Morgan fired!

Nice job!

Harry served on the ground in Afganistan as a forward air controller and in the air as an Apache attack helicopter pilot. That's not something many people do, added to that his head was worth a prize. Now anyone commenting negatively about him, did you do that? He also started the support/ games for disabled veterans. Walked to the North Pole again how many of us have the will to push ourselves to that extreme. He might have been a royal but he is a leader I would trust his judgment above my own I have never achieved anything like he has.

-3 ( +5 / -8 )

Unfortunately this is very common thinking in Britain. Blame the accusers and support the people who made the comments. Hopefully future generations are more accepting of differences.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

There will have to be change at the top, for the bottom to reach the middle.

Not just within the Institution of UK Monarchy, "Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown".

Society, politically will have to accept and make changes.

To socially, fully come together as a community, to ensure that the next and future generations achieve a first-class education. That first rug on the ladder.

Privilege and entitlement must accept conditions.

This whole Harry and Meghan soap opera has proved that within British society there is an unacceptable pecky order.

That Tunbridge Wells attitude.

Daddy inherited a company, mummy drives a car.

Thus, it is acceptable/natural for the peasants/ riff raff to fester in poverty, within council sink estates.

And the education system reflects that outcome.

It is not the statistical fact that People of Colour are discriminated both in employment, accompanied with the prejudicial need to justify ignorance.

At the very center is impoverishment, and how Government policy makes the necessary changes.

Missing is Trust, I wouldn’t trust any present politician to change a light bulb.

Harry and Meghan are victims of the belief that a fool’s paradise social media world, both inhabit will ultimately provide the solutions.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

Except their son was not granted a royal title unlike all of the other royal babies. Meghan is not the first overseas bride in royal history just the first black one. I am positive race plays a factor in public opinion.
