stripped of his honorary military ranks and the title of "His Royal Highness".

What in the world is an 'honorary military rank' and a 'royal highness', both sound like something titles a cartoon character would have, or perhaps a despot from a banana republic or a Gulf kingdom.

I do not know how the British Royal family can show their face in public!!!

Disgraced British royal Prince Andrew faced a call Wednesday to "live out his retirement in ignominy"

Aristocrats have long lived with shame and derision, as long as the peons are reliably giving up their share to support their lifestyles. The opinions of the plebes are probably beneath him and he can live a comfortable life on some Mediterranean island surrounded by servants. Justice served.

The Grand Old Duke of York,

He had 12 million quid.

He gave it to someone he never met,

For something he never did.

17 ( +25 / -8 )

Good, justice served.

-5 ( +7 / -12 )

Admission of guilt without actually have to say it out loud!

10 ( +14 / -4 )

Andrew is a man out of time. His behaviour is typical of male members of the Royal Family. Edward VIII abdicated because he wanted to marry the person he had been having an affair with and Edward VIII loved boozy parties where the bedchambers were kept very busy. Henry VIII died of syphilis.

That's not to say that what Andrew did was OK. Of course it wasn't. He's a bumbling idiot who doesn't realise that the world has changed and he hasn't.

13 ( +15 / -2 )

@Mickelicious actually it would seem he did quite a bit the Epstein sex trafficking party man randy Andy.

He is a terrible human.

I blame it on the parents.

He can just cry into his teddy bear collection now.

-4 ( +4 / -8 )

"Epstein took his own life," really?

10 ( +16 / -6 )

@Mickelicious actually it would seem he did quite a bit

It's humour, dan. He's confessed with cash, not words.

Bill Clinton is probably looking at his bank account right about now.

Bill Clinton is probably looking at his bank account right about now.

If so, then abu Ivanka must also be. Maybe he can still afford to pay off another woman he inappropriately grabbed somewhere. Or maybe one of his rich far right friends can bail him out again.

1 ( +6 / -5 )

If so, then abu Ivanka must also be.

Why?

Maybe he can still afford to pay off another woman he inappropriately grabbed somewhere.

Being inappropriately grabbed and being sexually molested as a child are two entirely different things.

Or maybe one of his rich far right friends can bail him out again

And the correlation of that to this story is?

3 ( +9 / -6 )

How on earth did this reptile get access to $20 million? Its not as if he has any earning capacity now or in the future to pay it.

Big question marks now hanging over the heads of Elizabeth and Charles Windsor.

2 ( +9 / -7 )

So it's game over for the prince who is now heading straight for the royal oubliette after his weasel-worded stiff upper-lipped statement put out accompanying the conclusion of the case spells it all out (the corrosive dishonesty, hypocrisy and amorality of elite self-entitlement). This brushing of scandalous behavior under a royal rug of "charity donations" is yet another example of the sickening pervasive double standards that fool nobody and must be understood as one of the factors giving rise to deplorable right-wing movements of discontent world-wide which are today, once again, threatening "democracy" with destruction. After this right royal black eye the Windsors had better watch out for the cold winds of change coming their way with the enthronement of Charles the third (and last?) and hope that a missing verse from the bowdlerized "God Save the Queen" is not rediscovered by born-again republicans:

...Scatter our enemies,

And make them fall!

Confound their politics,

Frustrate their knavish tricks,...

the Telegraph reporting it would come from one of the private estates belonging to his mother Queen Elizabeth II.

I don’t have much trust in the Telegraph these days.

The British public need clarification regarding where this money is coming from. If mummy is dragging him out of this rancid swamp, she needs to clarify exact.y where this money is coming from - every penny accounted for.

Is he the only person convicted other than Epstein and Ghislane?

Yes, case closed, the pleb thirst for blood has been quenched. Nothing to see, move on.

Convicted?

It'll be an icy in hell when that happens.

Sadly.

@Mickelicious

very witty

Big question marks now hanging over the heads of Elizabeth and Charles Windsor.

Maybe a question for you in Australia regarding whether you want to continue association with this shower.

The money is probably coming from the queen's private estate the Duchy of Lancaster which dates back to the 14th century.

I read that’s been put forward as a possibility, but as far as I know that hasn’t been clarified. It needs to be and quickly.

The question of whether it should be paid at all is a different matter. I’d like to hear the justification for it.

UK Embassies around the world breathe a sigh of relief that they'll never have to host him again, spending their time apologising for and explaining his crude jokes, gaffes, and other boorish behaviour.

One of his dumb comments could undo years of diplomacy!

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Good, justice served.

How is "justice served" by paying out money for something that you supposedly did not do?

Prince Andrew is kind of a cross between Errol Flynn and Roman Polanski.

With a bit of Jimmy Savile thrown in the mix

@BertieW above, the antics of Edward VII make those of Edward VIII pale in comparison. Poor Queen Victoria. Andrew is more a sorry victim of other schemers.

2 ( +6 / -4 )

perennially cash-strapped prince

I think their idea of being "cash-strapped" is somewhat different to mine.

Where do the millions come from?

Many members of global monarchies are no better than parasites..(?)

Some are simply disgraceful and unashamed..

I’m so glad my hero and role model Bill Clinton never got close to Mr Epstein and Ms Maxwell and visited his pedo island or ranch. Shame shame on the former Prince.

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

Is he the only person convicted other than Epstein and Ghislane?

How many people out of those 3 were convicted?

Maxwell (thought bubble): "There... got him now by the short and curlies."

Andrew (thought bubble): "Hey, I thought we agreed on No Photography?!"

Giuffre (thought bubble): "Hey, look at me with a real prince!"

So it was just about the money?

Nobody settles unless they are guilty. Andrew got caught with his **** in his hand..and elsewhere.

This is legit disgusting.

While Andrew has now confirmed through settlement that he had "sexual relations" with Virginia Giuffre. The claim is it happened on three different occasions. I wonder why after the first occasion miss Giuffre agreed to go on more of these trips that resulted in sex? At 17 she should have been able to say no if it terrified her. I am a guy, but at 17 if I did not want to do something I would speak out loud and clear. Was she a prisoner? It doesnt say.

@Peter14. You can be trafficked at any age.

@Peter14. You can be trafficked at any age.

To be sure, but that does not tell us if "she" was free to come and go as she pleased or if she was a prisoner with no freedom of will during and in between these trips.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

The money is going to charity, yes the charity Virginia has set up, so it's in her bank account, but charity sounds better.

Evidence for this distasteful assertion?

0 ( +1 / -1 )

You are clearly demonstrating you have no idea what trafficking is.

At the risk of sounding like I'm "blaming the victim" (I am not!), I can't help thinking much the same thing as does Peter 14. Still, even if Virginia Giuffre's involvement in the sordid and criminal "relationship" was not entirely coerced, Prince Andrew still appears to be a despicable character...Males in the British aristocratic class have never been, to allude to Bernard Shaw, "victims of middle-class morality." Moreover, since the disastrous "sexual revolution," those with money and power have had all the more opportunity to do their thing...The same people who "sexualize" children in the name of "enlightenment" act shocked when the Jeffrey Epsteins of this fallen world come crawling out of the woodwork.

17 is legal in the UK, although you should obey local laws when abroad. Due diligence is difficult when engaging in intimate relations. How many questions do you ask?

Rich people should do what the proletariat do and pay in advance for that sort of thing. It works out cheaper.

The Royals get cash from various sources including public funds, with no strings attached. What they then spend it on is up to them. When your pay packet arrives, there isn't a note on it telling you what you can spend it on.

Don't make the common mistake of assuming that the British public care about whatever the tabloids are putting on their front page. At the moment, we are all too busy worrying about the enormous increases in the cost of food and the gaps on the supermarket shelves courtesy of Brexit. Price rises of 40% and 60% are not uncommon and some products have just vanished.

£12m is chickenfeed compared to the hundreds of millions that got syphoned from public funds during the pandemic as friends and neighbours of Tory MPs started up their PPE businesses. Maybe the papers could put that on the front page every day until it is paid back.

If I were not guilty of having sexual contact with an under-aged trafficked girl, I would simply not pay them £12 million.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

If I had sex with a 17 year UK girl I wouldn't pay anything because the age of consent is 16 years.

And if the missus found out? You'd pay ten, though not in cash!

1 ( +1 / -0 )

pay then...

0 ( +0 / -0 )

woah almost like it took place in the US where the age of consent is higher

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Don't worry zichi, I won't tell!

It seems Randy Andy has decided to pay up so that he doesn't have to fess up.....but why pay at all if there's nothing to fess? The more I hear about this nauseating saga, the more I feel there must be more than just underage (or not...) sex behind it all. Hard to imagine though that there is anything that warrants Ms Giuffre getting her hands on £12 million.

I heard somewhere that Virginia Guiffre will be donating the money to charity minus lawyers’ fees.

All the news outlets I've seen say that he will pay an 'undisclosed amount' to her and a 'substantial amount' to her charity.
