The US mandates are lagging behind the development of the virus meds. Living with Covid means not being scared of its general circulation or worrying about case numbers (a good thing, as vaccinated people can spread it just like unvaccinated folk [as noted in a BBC report] and it won't go until it has run its course, a process delayed by lockdowns).

That will be possible with the new tablets being released by several companies. They cut severe symptoms by about 90% removing the pressure on health services from breakthrough and unvaxxed sufferers. These politically divisive mandates may not be needed for long. Living with Covid means people having it like flu. According to stats from the pharma companies, we now have a range of medications to do that. Because political stuff takes time to implement, governments are imposing some rules when they may already have become obsolete. The tablets look to be game-changing.

Not a problem. We're fully vaccinated. I have zero respect and even less patience for people who refuse to do their part to end this pandemic and get vaccinated. Every one of us has an obligation to our families, our neighbors, our communities and our nation to do everything, every single little thing, necessary to end this pandemic. Those who refuse are harming their community and their nation. I cannot respect those who show the rest of their nation no respect. As more and more people gain immunity fewer people are available to become infected and the pandemic dies out.

Easy for you to say from across the Pacific in a place where nothing that happens in the US affects you directly. From where we sit in a community with a higher than average infection and hospitalization rate and businesses and schools that openly flaunt Covid-19 rules and are thus directly harmed by people who stubbornly refuse to do their fair share to stop a pandemic the situation looks a little different.
