Nope. He, like most of the others that attacked the capitol, has shown he's a danger to society.
Trump stirred the many right wing, white nationalist hornet nests, encouraged them to hive together. The far right, white nationalist groups currently present the greatest danger to the republic and its citizens. Bring them to trial. If shown they committed crimes, let them face the full force of the law.
People in emotional situations, especially when surrounded by thousands of others as angry as they are, hear what they want to hear. No doubt some heard Trump say 'march peacefully' while others heard him say 'fight like hell', and heard Trump's Rudy say 'trial by combat'.
Trump and Rudy have both been connected to criminal groups throughout their careers, both know how to talk out of both sides of their mouths. Both know that by actively encouraging angry followers, many with limited reasoning skills, they could manipulate them to do their dirty work.

Wow, I did Nazi that one coming.
But seriously, I grew up in suburban KC ON THE KS side. It does not surprise me AT ALL that one of these guys is from Olathe. It’s an embarrassment to Johnson County, which is actually fairly purple and moderate.

Hoping to get a lighter sentence, of course they will blame Trump. It's also a good time to remind people that the Proud Boys leader is an FBI informant.

Those fiends. They'll probably resort to using underhanded tactics like "showing evidence", like Trump saying "Proud Boys: stand back, and stand by" on national TV.
Why can't judges and lawyers be sensible, and make decisions based on feelings, not facts, like the rest of Trump's cultists?
Mocheake
Yeah, sure and especially when you are staring at years in the pen. It's amazing how one's perspective can suddenly change. Throw the book at this coward.

Not so proud now eh.

LOL.

Of course, it's Trump's fault. He's the instigator in chief. He's the ex-president in chief, but he's still a possible instigator in chief, so good to see the dumb and dangerous insurrectionists to our Democracy blaming the right guy!!
SuperLib
Is that how it works? I break into someone's house and then tell the cops someone else told me to do it and they give me a lighter sentence?
This guy will be sentenced based on his actions whether he says he got authority from Donald Trump or Big Bird. The shame of it is that Trump won't even give a crap about him.
Sucks to be stupid.

Proud Boys suspect's lawyer (maybe):
"Can't you see by the dull expressions on their faces, Your Honor, that my clients are incapable of thinking for themselves. Just look at how stupid they are! Now, Donald Trump, he's the real villain in all of this who took advantage of the soft infantile minds of millions of Americans and caused this riot to happen!"

Don't expect the liberal media to go into that.

Oh, I'm sorry, I did not realize that "stand back and stand by" was code for "break into and attack the Capitol"...

Just like Trump threw them all under the bus after he'd told them to "fight like hell" and they actually did it? That's right-wingers for you - all for one and each man for himself.

That's right now. Squeal. Disavow in order to try to save your traitor ass.
No honor amongst criminals (or traitors). That's why the cops interview each suspect seperately and individually.
