So now Ukraine wants the US to “supply” them 500 javelins and 500 stingers a day.
notice it doesn’t say let them purchase. Give them. For free.
so the Population of the USA takes all these negatives of sanctions, gives him 13.6 billion dollars and now 1000 free weapons a day?
While it takes 2 hours a day in wages to buy gasoline for a US worker to get to work and home?
UChosePoorly
Blacklabel - Thanks for your concern, but you don't need to worry about us here in the US. We will be fine. We are a wealthy nation and our economy is insulated from the sanctions more than the EU and other countries.
Fighto!
@ Zichi - fantastic news. Thanks for the link.
Ukraine is fighting bravely and fiercely defending their sovereign land.
Keep repelling those fascist invaders, keep blowing up their tanks and troop carriers, and sending them back home.

Nice sample for all that double or multiple sided information and propaganda spreading , especially in times of conflicts or wars. No one here ever really knows or can know why the ship exploded, if it even really was there or anywhere else or video shootage from years before or if the Ukrainians attacked or a mentally sick own Russian soldier or just by accidental explosion and if it sank or is still maneuverable etc.
Olegek
So... who promised a quick victory?
Russian spend forces are not "spent" - here the main problem of Kiev.
It's a problem of some US military officials.

"Joke's on you, I wanted a protracted war that sapped my country's resources while getting sanctioned at hitherto unforeseen levels from the international community as prices for my people rise dramatically. You fell right into my trap!" - Vladimir Putin, apparently.
Monty
It is exactly like I said this morning in another thread here on JT.
The Russians will probably lose this war.
Therefore they become more brutal and more inhuman in their actions.
And they will not stop until they murdered everyone around them.
And to reach their goal, extinguish a complete nation, these mass murderers will not hesitate to use whatever is necessary. Even chemical weapons or even nukes!
Because Putin, his followers and supporters are completely insane!
This insane mob can just be stopped by the Russian Population.
Someone must wake up the Russian Population from the brainwashed and censored BS they were shown everyday by the Russian Media.
Someone must show the Russian Population what their massmurdering leaders are doing in the Ukraine.
Mickelicious
I suspected it was a screenshot from an old episode of I Love Lucy, and you have confirmed my suspicions.

1 Main Ukrainian forces concentrated in urban areas (not outside and Ukraine is biggest country in Europe).
2 Russian forces try to surround rather than storm Kiev.
The main goal - Ukrainian Army (artillery tanks and planes.)
Not sank but seriously damaged there was a big fire
It was flooded to avoid an explosion of ammunition in the hold
Pukey2
Exactly. The Russians have the capability to flatten Ukraine just like how America flattened Iraq, but it doesn't want to do that. The problem is the Ukrainian army is hiding among the residential areas using innocent civilians as human shields. This is how they work, along with forcing foreign volunteers (including medics) to go to the frontline. Compared to America and its past wars based on American lies, Russia is actually showing restraint. But don't wait for the MSM to tell you that.
Mickelicious
I'm not crying, there's something in my eye.
Olegek
Yes. It was so exactly before the "special operation" in Ukraine.
100% truth.
The main reason for this "operation" - Ukraine come to close to NATO membership.
And this is unacceptable for Russia.
UChosePoorly
You guys need help.

Russia bombed a children's hospital.

many words, but NEVER reason written why Russia have attacked?
some kind of "memory issues" for some?
gcbel
It wasn’t a shock to anyone paying attention these past decades. The why is easy… still nice Grozny, nothing really been done, political patronage, endemic corruption, failure to invest in the basics, relying on conscripts then treating them awfully, show weapons… The surprise is why so many including Putin!) believed Russia was X times the force it actually is in reality.
Now they are starting to find themselves fixed in place, one of the worst places to be, on their way to being attrited.
Olegek
The ship was next to the quay wall
it was unloading (so - not moving at all)
Ground-to-ground missile strike (one of the versions) or sabotage
But there just isn't enough depth for the ship to sink.
It was not in open sea.

@Pukey2
I think this is a really important point that is being frequently overlooked. A lot of people around the world are used to the American shock/awe doctrine now when it comes to wars. Flatten the country with intense strikes and then move in to clean up whatever scraps are left. It is effective in "winning" in record time, but has catastrophic long term repercussions as can be seen time and time again.
Russia could probably do the same thing, but they obviously don't want to, they haven't even really been using the typical Russian deep war doctrine either. Not in the same way that they deployed it in Syria for example.
I think it is easy for anyone used to the shock/awe doctrine to look at Russia and assume that they must be struggling because they haven't reduced the whole country to ash yet.

There are a number possible options, fully arm Ukraine with aircraft, tanks, every missile, drone one could wave a stick at, with a nod to force some form of negotiated settlement.
And to hell with the consequences
Let Macron continue to mumble sweet nothings in Putin ear, as Putin death squads, wreck havoc on Ukraine's civilian population.
Give Putin an ultimatum, withdraw or the West will respond with military action, could be a prelude to WW3.
Or turn tail, fudge and run politically whimpering behind the sofa.
But make a choice, now, and own it!!!
gcbel
Tough. Russia doesn’t have a god-given right to vassal states.
Peter14
No, the main reason is Putin trying to Expand Russian territory and set up a proxy government in Ukraine.
As they did with Grozny, and then they bomb it to oblivion, like they did with Grozny and Aleppo.
It flooded because it blew up and a nice big hole in the hull let all the water in. Opps.
150,000 Russians sent to invade and after only 4 weeks there are more than 25,000 Russian casualties either killed or wounded. Within another 4 weeks there would be under 100,000 of the original force left. Lose 1/3 in 2 months. Russian Army in one year of fighting will be on the endangered list. Russian sends in more and they lose more. Attrition will be the end of it as a fighting force and too much will be the end of Putin as President. Tens of thousands of Russian mothers will hold Putin responsible and they will get their pound of flesh off him.
Blacklabel
Then why is gas $7, inflation at a 40 years high and your President saying prepare for food shortages?
Putin price hike wasn’t it? Even though it started in Jan 2021.
Blacklabel
Javelin is 20 million yen each.
stinger around 5 million each
so 25 million x 500 every day?

Despite failing to score a quick victory
Most likely a couple of intelligence officials, who are now under house arrest and a major Russian general, who hasn't been seen in public for some time and is experiencing 'heart problems'.

Has it never occurred to those posturing G7 Leaders, there lack of leadership, a noticeable spine column.
Is frankly creating the very catastrophic scenario, end game, they are supposedly trying avoid.
Patting each other on the back, at some look at me NATO summit, fiddling as Rome/Ukraine city after city burns
painkiller
itsonlyrocknrollToday 04:20 pm JST
That is exactly what they are doing. Patting each other on the back, hugging it out, while Kiev is burning.
Someone in Europe needs to take the lead and either do something directly militarily, or just sit back and watch everything play out, no matter how it ends.
Ah_so
An inconvenience, but not the same as having your country invaded and whole cities flattened by a cruel aggressor.
Express sister
They were right when they said he was going to invade Ukraine. You were wrong when you said it wouldn't happen. Why should we trust you over the experts?
gcbel
True. Judging by what we see Putin’s plan was to … pretend to seize Kiev and major cities but secretly bumble along into a quagmire. Genius plan.
So not regime change and denazification? Wow, how the goal post have moved. Thousands dead and millions of refugees so Kiev grants Russian-speaking areas “more autonomy”.
Cricky
Well the Ukrainians don’t seem to be looking to give up. The Russians fear the internal consequences of giving up. Don’t know why people are talking about America as they are an arms length away and have in the past actively tried to avoid collateral damage, unlike the Russian hord at Europes gates. Shooting randomly at civilian areas. When you have a choice do you want Peace a nice life or a hord of barbaric armed youth in your street.
tooheysnew
frontline soldiers are commonly replaced every 4-6 weeks. Any longer & they start to suffer fatigue & PTSD.
the Russian conscripts have been in action for 4 weeks now. Where are their replacements coming from - Chechnya ? Belarus ? Syria ?
you keep repeating that - pathetic reasoning for the bombing of residential areas
you mean the invasion & destruction of Ukraine
in other words, it was destroyed
They’ve attacked a hospital, a museum full of scared children & used illegal weapons.
There is still time for your wish of total destruction to materialise
Express sister
Again, what country did Hunter Biden found? Where? What continent? What is its name?
gcbel
Key here will be for the West to put the screws to the oligarchs, the siloviki and the Russian military and signaling that the best CB purse of action for everyone is for them to ditch Putin.
UChosePoorly
Lol, don't believe everything you hear about my country, friend. Gas is not $7.
Cricky
Enters a more dangerous phase, you men more dangerous then being attacked by a hord? How can it get more dangerous? Random shelling, not dangerous enough?
Bob Fosse
They weren’t alone. Some of our more vocal pundits here were predicting a “Red Wedding” slaughter. But you know how their predictions always turn out.
Since you’re doing it in yen, what’s gas at $7 in Japan? Cheap.

A friend of mine of Ukrainian origin visited tonight, and we fell into discussion over the war.
"When (not 'if') Putin loses, how will the Russian establishment deal with him?" I asked, having seen no speculation on that.
"Oh, they'll shoot him," he answered without hesitation.
Talk about guaranteed retirement. The fearful part is what comes after that.

He is right.
Russia already invaded Ukraine in 2014, and stayed there.
So, the invasion was already over and done. Russia is now just expanding its presence.

Ukrachina? Europe and Asia?

Biden is headed to Poland.
Let's see Biden cross that border and say "We stand with Ukraine."
I would truly commend him.
