Putin has Trump wrapped around his finger.

No wrong Underworld,. Putin as Trump.on his knees in any position Putin wants. LOL.

Putin scared about more crippling sanctions, trying to kiss up. Interesting

It was not immediately known if the portrait Putin gave to Trump had been examined for bugs. The White House hasn't commented on the portrait.

Don't worry, Putin doesn't need any bugs, Trump directly tells him whatever he wants to know.

He’s not worried about sanctions. He wants the US to help him destroy Ukraine.

7 ( +9 / -2 )

He’s not worried about sanctions.

But his people are and discontent can only go so far particularly when it comes to people starving or resisting to be drafted and then there’s the Oligarchs issue…

This surely is a magnificent portrait. Described by a "leading artist", of which Russia has many accomplished in many disciplines of the fine arts. Fact that Putin had it commissioned will mean it is 110% the finest possible quality.

Can't wait to see it and wonder where it is hanging - 1600, Palm Beach or Midtown (?). If ever this priceless piece goes under the hammer down the track, the reserve will be extraordinary - seven figures, if not 8. This is up there with the best.

But his people are

I think Putin's people are more afraid of Putin himself than of sanctions from America. Being economically hampered is something they can live with. Being put behind bars, serving time in some of the world's toughest prisons in Siberia (anyone heard of the Black Dolphin?), and being tortured is something I think Russian people are more worried about. There, speaking out against the government will get you arrested.

This portrait will up there with the Holy Grails of modern US politics: the late-night visitor logs, the 'missing/erased' tapes, a candy bean jar, the cigar case and blue cocktail outfit, the birth certificate, that infamous email server, a certain laptop...

Bass: Discontent isn't in the Russian vocabulary. But discontent is alive and active in the USA on all fronts of the political landscape. Let take Jan 6th, and how about the discontent of the Jews about Universities allow protests and calling it anti semitism. You can write a book about of todays discontent in the USA, No such a thing in Russia. LOL.

Who needs proofreading anyway?

Yeah, and all those dissenters and journalists simply fall out of windows so often by pure coincidence.

It would’ve been more appropriate if Putin had given Trump the 20,000 Ukrainian children he’s kidnapped.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Yeah, and where did you read that ? Fox News. Where we all witness Jan 6th and the Jewish dissenters. LOL. Push your anti Russian propaganda where idiots will believe you like the USA.

There have been plenty of revolts and if it gets to that boiling point, it could happen again, when you have nothing to lose, that is when you are most dangerous.

Being economically hampered is something they can live with.

If that were true, many wouldn't leave their country and many wouldn't be homeless.

There, speaking out against the government will get you arrested

That doesn't mean they won't, they have been for more than 100 years.

Who says it is a cheap painting?

This will be worthy of hanging in Louvre, the Hermitage, the Met or any top gallery, alongside that of the other masters: up there with the Mona Lisa.

In the toilets of any of those museums, yeah.

That judgment can only be made if and when the portrait becomes public and we know the name of the artist. You exaggerate its worth and value.

Trump demanded his portrait be removed Colorado State Capitol.

Maybe this portrait can be 'The elephant in the room', that JJE has been desperately searching for in his efforts to cope with carrying water for murderers; watch.

1 ( +5 / -4 )

No, as mentioned above, it has not been shown to the public. Witkoff has almost certainly seen it and admired it. We can safely assume Putin, who commissioned it, has seen it. Of course, the artist who created it too. And perhaps a small number of aides on both sides. Trump has seen it, who according to his envoy "was clearly touched by it."

We don't know the name of the artist - there has been some speculation in the media over there and hints - but no one really knows. Just the words 'leading' and 'accomplished' have both been applied.

It would have been presented privately to Witkoff in the Kremlin, then placed in a very secure case for transportation, assumably via his private jet, which was in Moscow.

Aside from that we don't know the details.

It's very disrespectful. I hope the same does not happen to the Putin portrait gift.

Federal law requires executive branch officials to disclose any gift from a foreign government and valued at $480 or more. It’s not bribery: A president can keep items to be displayed at their “presidential center.” To keep things for personal use, U.S. officials have to pay fair market value.

Well, kudos to the Kremlin painters - they sure made an accurate portrait....

If you look close, you can see all the strings Putin pulls when he wants to make his puppet dance...

Like Gorbachev said, US and its allies have been badgering Russia with accusations and blaming

it for everything. Russia wanted to have friendly ties with America, but it's difficult to do that when Russia sees that it's being cheated.

All gifts belong to the USGovt, even a doodle that uses a really expensive frame.

1396 days left.

Hard to have friendly ties when countries don't keep their word - like in treaties to provide security to Ukraine and honor the boundaries of 1994.

Under Trump, the US is only slightly better, sadly.
