Russians don't trust Putin and his Russian vaccine. I wonder why?

Anti-vaxers in Russia are endorsed by Putin.

Anti-vaxers in America are endorsed by Trump.

President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday said he was opposed to mandatory coronavirus vaccinations for Russians but urged the jab-skeptic population to get inoculated,

The usual twisted words in the headline, wanting to make Putin look anti-vaccine. The first sentence shows he isn't anti-vaccine, but that he doesn't want to force citizens to take untested drugs.

Better headline would be: Putin cares more about human rights than many Western leaders.

Hahahahahhahahahaha that's hilarious :'D

@commanteer

he doesn't want to force citizens to take untested drugs.

The COVID-19 vaccines from Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna were created with a method that has been in development for years, so the companies could start the vaccine development process early in the pandemic.

China isolated and shared genetic information about COVID-19 promptly, so scientists could start working on vaccines.

The vaccine developers didn’t skip any testing steps, but conducted some of the steps on an overlapping schedule to gather data faster.

Vaccine projects had plenty of resources, as governments invested in research and/or paid for vaccines in advance.

Some types of COVID-19 vaccines were created using messenger RNA (mRNA), which allows a faster approach than the traditional way that vaccines are made.

Social media helped companies find and engage study volunteers, and many were willing to help with COVID-19 vaccine research.

Because COVID-19 is so contagious and widespread, it did not take long to see if the vaccine worked for the study volunteers who were vaccinated.

Companies began making vaccines early in the process — even before FDA authorization — so some supplies were ready when authorization occurred.

From the choice of words I gather the author supports mandatory vaccines?

Interesting how suddenly, whatever Putin opposes automatically becomes the supported idea by russophobes, even if it's about mandatory vaccinations.

Majority of the ones getting sick and hospitalised in Russia right now are the those that did not get vaccinated.

The reason why some people don't want to get vaccinated is not so much because they don't trust the vaccine or whatnot, it's more of a 'since you need 70% to achieve herd immunity, someone else around me will get vaccinated instead because it's too mendokusai for me to do it'.

Puttie is trying to get back on his population's good side since they don't trust him, don't trust his state-run media, and don't trust his vaccine which never went through stage 3 trials.

This is especially amusing since a large majority of the anti-vax propaganda on FB is the work of the internet resource factory trolls in St. Petersburg Russia. Home of the 50 Kopeck comment/tweet.

a considered approach. The only people dying from this disease are the elderly and those with secondary illnesses! Vaccines which are still EUA with no long term data are ludricrous for healthy under 60s. mRNA is untried and has been unsuccessful in the past so waiting for some more evidence of no long term adverse effects or better still only vaccinating the elderly and sick is the best approach

Putin has set a more considered tone than most in the west

"Vaccination is voluntary, because you can change your job", Dmitry Peskov notes. source: TASS, cnn.

Putin is correct. My body, my choice.... forced vaccinations would set a horrendous example. Alas, in the West we are heading in that direction.

They should go to Hungary. I heard Sputnik is popular there. Though it was a while ago, maybe the campaign promotion finished.

Putin still has to do a better job convincing his fellow countryfolk to get vaccinated

Because Russian cases and deaths are rising - and that's a fact he cannot step around

If he doesn't do a good job, Russia can eventually become the next sad country to follow in the death list headed by the US, Brazil, India (Russia is #6 right now, not too far behind)

Putin has set a more considered tone than most in the west

And he is correct when he said these:

"It is necessary to listen, not to people who understand little about this and spread rumors, but to specialists,"

"If a person is sick without a vaccine, then the long-term consequences can be very serious,"

The Libs must be split about this decision by their Socialist/Communist mentor, since in their utopian fairyland the government would control this aspect of their citizens.
