Again, Trump is following instructions from Moscow. This is what Moscow really wants, the green light to build arms so as to better project its influence abroad. Russia is a weak nation economically (the real source of great power - just look at American history and the rise of China); but an outsized military and nuclear threat affords status to otherwise weak nations like Russia and North Korea.

Well, US pulled out first, Russia has no choice but to do the same.

That's not how it works. The one who breaks the treaty first by doing something in violation of it is at fault. There is no reason to keep up appearances if one will not abide by the rules laid out in the first place. Nice try though, nobody with a brain buys what you're selling.

-3 ( +5 / -8 )

The free-for-all is about to begin thanks to Dumpster Donny and his train wreck of an administration. Making the world less safe one bumbling decision at a time.

4 ( +10 / -6 )

Trump is an idiot.... the rest of the world's leaders need to confound him at every turn in the hopes that he does not get re-elected. Lets try to keep this massive mistake down to just one term.

2 ( +9 / -7 )

They want the world to end. This is nuts

0 ( +4 / -4 )

@Burning Bush

Yes. If America does something stupid Russia should follow right afterwards.

-3 ( +6 / -9 )

Likely, it's not the missiles themselves but the divisiveness this will cause in NATO and the EU. Trump is the wedge Putin is using to divide Europe.

1 ( +5 / -4 )

Why would the US stay in a treaty that was violated by Russia in 2017? https://www.dw.com/en/russias-controversial-9m729-missile-system-a-not-so-secret-secret/a-46606193

https://www.dw.com/en/these-missiles-can-reach-berlin-warns-lithuanias-foreign-minister/a-46289487

And by the way, these missiles can reach not just Riga, Tallinn and Vilnius, but also Berlin. And they're nuclear-capable. So I believe it's really an escalation measure. That's not a claim, it's a fact. It's not denied by Russia.

-2 ( +5 / -7 )

Again, Trump is following instructions from Moscow. This is what Moscow really wants,

So we should stay in because.....

Once again, liberals can’t seem to comprehend the threat Russia is increasingly becoming, they can break all the treaty rules and we have to abide by them, never heard such a stupid thing in my entire life. We need to do whatever we can to protect ourselves and our natural interests and if the Russians are violating any treaty in order to crush the US or to give it a military advantage, then we need to do the same. Democrats will get this country killed one day.

the green light to build arms so as to better project its influence abroad. Russia is a weak nation economically (the real source of great power -

An Oligarch society with a lot of cash and resources, well....according to the news this new missile doesn’t reflect this at all.

just look at American history and the rise of China); but an outsized military and nuclear threat affords status to otherwise weak nations like Russia and North Korea.

What?

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

Hoping that Russia might take the moral high ground on this one but sadly, no.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

"We will respond quid pro quo," Putin said. "Our American partners have announced they were suspending their participation in the treaty and will do the same. They have announced they will conduct research and development, and we will act accordingly."

Welome to the birth of the new Cold War and the new world order!

Off to racses these two Super powers once again. Or now publicly!

Putin emphasized that such new weapons won't be deployed unless the U.S. does so.

Like we are going to trust Putin the EX KGB officer on his word? Please do not make me laugh.

He noted Shoigu's report that a key stage in testing of the Poseidon was completed several days ago.

Translation. The city buster is almost ready to go online Comrad Putin.

( final end game killer weapon of the ages)

I can hear them now talking in like some cheesy made for Hollywood movie with bad Russian accsents.

Comarad Putin to Comrad Shoigu-

"Very well done Comrad Shoigu." Well done indeed on our a land-based version of the Kalibr ship-based cruise missile and our new hypersonic intermediate-range ballistic missile project. Under water drones and hyper glides. Oh my! We will beat those cocky pesky Americans once and for all. Lenin would be proud Comrad.

At the same time, the Russian leader said he would like to review the progress on building other prospective weapons that don't fall under the INF treaty, including the intercontinental Avangard hypersonic glide vehicle and the Poseidon underwater nuclear drone.

Nuclear drones and underwater vehicles. (Making submarines obsolete.)

Hypersonic wepons. Yeah here we go.

https://thediplomat.com/2018/11/hypersonic-boost-glide-weapons-and-challenges-to-international-security/

Nuclear underwater drones are made for one thing and one thing only.

https://www.msn.com/en-in/news/world/russia-tests-underwater-nuclear-drone-report-says/ar-BBRr9hI

The Poseidon's true power has never been revealed, but rumors of its existence have swirled among defense circles for years. In September 2015, The Washington Free Beaconcited Pentagon sources as saying Russia was developing submarines armed with "Kanyon" nuclear-capable drones dubbed "city busters," with "tens" of megaton explosive power and capable of traveling long distances at high speeds. ( game over )

Can you hear those Russian's laughing now?

Just wait one year after the death of the INF treaty. Trump's Space Force will launch some super weapon claiming to render Russian weapons obsolete. The U.S. better step up it's game and defense contracts up and running. We have weapons to build! Game on again with the Ruskies!

Hello. I am Joshua, Shall we play a game?

Stop playing with the foot ball Mr. President! NORAD will not be happy!

2 ( +4 / -2 )

@Strangerland.

Yeah, I got real problem with this INF treaty back turning. (red face emoji)

I am no fan of Hilliary Clinton. But I trusted her when she said this about Comrad Vlad.

She has his number.

“I understand why he has to do this — to prove he’s a man. He’s afraid of his own weakness,” she said. “Russia has nothing, no successful politics or economy. All they have is this.”

-and-

As a former KGB spy, [Putin] is quite adept at reading people and understands how to manipulate them,” she said, accusing him of violence, assassination, poisoning, bribes, extortion, blackmail, “the whole, what’s called ‘active measures’ toolkit.”

2 ( +7 / -5 )

Welcome back to the good old 1980's everyone.

Trump and the Trumpettes give the future a big kiss: 'MWUA!'

(Making the World Unsafe Again.)

I am no fan of Hilliary Clinton. But I trusted her when she said this about Comrad Vlad.

There is no doubt Hillary was a hawk. But I think a hawk is what is needed with Russia - look how Trump has turned out on Russia. This is beyond the absurd.

Still no outrage from the right. Baffling.

Oh my! LOL!

Trump Busted For New Secret Meeting With Putin At G20

https://www.politicususa.com/2019/01/29/trump-busted-for-new-secret-meeting-with-putin-at-g20.html

Everything is going according to Putin's plan. All thanks to the ignorance and hatred within the Republican party!

No American interpreters, just Putin, and his own interpreter.

He is obeying his master in Moscow.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

The American people need to start taking control of their government before it starts WWIII and the people of other nations need to start taking control of their governments. The so-called sovereign nations have surrounded the sovereignty to the US and the people of these nations have stood by and allowed it. It is up to the people to start monitoring and controlling the government they elect, the government they pay. The people of the world have allowed the US and their governments to scare them into giving up their rights, giving up their democracy. Now is the time to act, contact you government representative and demand he represent your interest the US interests.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Moscow wants Trump to end the treaty, giving Putin permission to deploy any and all types of INF forces to threaten Europe. Trump already has helped to weaken NATO unity enough to prevent a strong response like the 1979 NATO response to SS-20 deployments. In the unlikely event that NATO does muster a strong response (perhaps under the next president?), the civil discord in Western Europe would be more severe than what we saw when NATO deployed INF weapons in Europe in the early-1980s. Either way, Putin wins and NATO loses. Well played, Vlad.

3 ( +6 / -3 )

The timing of this...coincidence...hmmmm

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Good job Russia! Let Trump and America to be blamed! They like scraps all the treaties has signed and let the world knows Russia is the sole peacekeeper!

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

Dear MAGA sheeple,

Is this more of the Trump "winning" you wanted?

Add it to the list: government shutdown over useless wall, loving North Korea while belittling America's long time allies, loving Neo-Nazis at Charlottesville, 7,000 fact-checked lies and counting .... the list is long.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

Trump loves and praises Putin & Kim but hates and threatens the Iranians. The Iranians are and have been complying about nukes while Putin and Kim have not.

Ironic, isn't it?

2 ( +5 / -3 )

Thank you, Trump. Or, should I say, thank you Putin? Oh well, same thing.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Two top players setting an example for the rest of the world's countries to follow. 'We can scrap' time!?!?

To everything (turn, turn, turn)

There is a season (turn, turn, turn)

And a time for every purpose, under heaven.

A time to sign, a time to scrap, yeah!

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Oh baby here we go a new cold war's about to start, can't wait, i heard this one will have Explosive ratings

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Bass...."the threat Russia is increasingly becoming"?!?! You sound like Mitt Romney or Hillary Clinton!

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Vlad was the one that was touting hyper sonic missile delivery systems quite a while ago... So, while I'm not a fan of Trump, people still say the US is to blame for this? Or is it short term memory failure?

https://www.cnbc.com/2018/10/18/putin-says-hypersonic-missiles-will-deploy-in-coming-months.html

https://www.news.com.au/world/europe/vladimir-putin-says-his-newest-weapon-is-a-hypersonic-missile-with-the-power-of-a-fireball/news-story/55f85bae2be12e0dc904bc45687587f3

Imho though, Putin is still a rube when it comes to the self destruction of humanity. I know a much more effective way of completely wiping out life as we know it on this planet that doesn't even require a nuclear warhead or a shot to be fired in the slightest. It would terrify even the most twisted leaders in the world today to know just how capable humanity is at destroying itself.

Moscow wants Trump to end the treaty, giving Putin permission to deploy any and all types of INF forces to threaten Europe.

You spoke to Putin????

Trump already has helped to weaken NATO

No, they have always been weak without the US and Trump (thank God) made sure they spend more on their own defense and less on 6 weeks vacations.

unity enough to prevent a strong response like the 1979 NATO response to SS-20 deployments. In the unlikely event that NATO does muster a strong response (perhaps under the next president?), the civil discord in Western Europe would be more severe than what we saw when NATO deployed INF weapons in Europe in the early-1980s. Either way, Putin wins and NATO loses. Well played, Vlad.

This is exactly the reason why our enemies love to have a weak Democrat in the WH because they appeasement and capitulation is in their blood.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

Bass..."Our enemies like to have a weak Democrat in the WH"???? You mean like (former Democrat and currently weak) Trump? As opposed to Clinton or Romney who called Russia out? I hate Clinton and Trump both, but you are either bipolar or so blinded by partisanship, that it's no wonder I've never seen you get a majority of up votes on JT.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Bass...Just wanna have the last word eh? Against them libs? May I refer you to Ann Coulter's recent statements on 'weak wimpy Trump'?

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Just wanna have the last word eh? Against them libs? May I refer you to Ann Coulter's recent statements on 'weak wimpy Trump'?

Sorry, I’m not going to be silent because liberals want to listen to more liberal talking points. And what is up with the liberals and their obsessive fascination with a famous conservative book author and her criticizing Trump? She called him weak...ok and?

Our enemies like to have a weak Democrat in the WH"???? You mean like (former Democrat and currently weak) Trump?

Yes, former and thankfully converted.

As opposed to Clinton or Romney who called Russia out?

Called them out, but did nothing, Clinton-selling 20% of our Uranium One to the Russians and Romney was too weak to even beat Obama in a debate where he should have.

I hate Clinton and Trump both, but you are either bipolar or so blinded by partisanship, that it's no wonder I've never seen you get a majority of up votes on JT.

I never cared about votes up or down, being liked or being popular or unpopular. I’m not a liberal and nothing wrong with being a conservative, but I do call out Republicans all the time, dislike many of them as well, not as much as Democrats.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

About time. Pulling out of the treaty is the right call. When one side is in violation, doing nothing is just inviting them to push the envelope even further. This is a lose for Putin.

Putin instructed the military to make sure the research and development works on new weapons don't swell military spending.

Understandable, Russia can’t afford an arms race with the US.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Why is this an issue at all? Trump loves Russia. Americans voted for Trump. Ergo, the majority of Americans support their President, Mr. Vladimir Putin. No issue here.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

Called them out, but did nothing, Clinton-selling 20% of our Uranium One to the Russians

Uranium One was a Canadian company. Clinton had no personal involvement in its sale.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Live with it. When the bombs start falling, live with it, Dr. Strangelove.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Understandable, Russia can’t afford an arms race with the US.

they said exactly that of the Soviet Union, didnt stop them making over 16000 nukes, Russia today has far more mineral resources to sell than the Soviets did. People always underestimate Russias resolve, Hitler was one of them.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

China wants the US remain in the treaty while they continue to build missiles capable of reaching all Asia and more, while they look the other way when Russia was clearly breaking the treaty in the first place. I think the US withdrawing from the treaty has more do with China than Russia. All three nations need to come to a term in creating a new treaty but it looks as if China has no interest in getting tangled in a treaty that would limit what they can do militarily. Today's China is NOT the same China as little as 10 years ago.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Uranium One was a Canadian company.

In the US, that’s like SNL is American, but with mostly Canadians.

Clinton had no personal involvement in its sale.

Yeah, liberals keep saying that line in the hopes they can possibly believe in it.

https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/hillary-clinton-uranium-russia-deal/

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

they said exactly that of the Soviet Union, didnt stop them making over 16000 nukes,

They were right. The USSR is now on the trash heap of history. That expenditure in 16000 + nukes and massive conventional forces is what drained them. Communist command economy Soviet Union couldn’t sustain an arms race with the developed economies of the West.

People always underestimate Russias resolve, Hitler was one of them.

Muddled point. Hitler and Russian resolve are irrelevant to the question. Russian economy can’t afford a full blown arms race with the United States. The Swiss are plucky too I’m sure. They can’t afford arms race with the United States and the West either. Putin would have preferred the US remain constrained by treaty while they violate at their convenience.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

It isn't like everyone with longer range missiles can't just alter the software to support shorter ranges - especially with a cruise missile.

Does everyone understand that the navigation system on these devices are 1,000,000x easier to make than a self-driving vehicle? Maybe even easier.

In reality, anyone in the "biz" knows this and it really changes nothing except for pacifists who would do nothing, ever.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Russian economy can’t afford a full blown arms race with the United States.

why would they need to they still have 6000 active nukes, US could have double even triple this number and it would still be MAD. AMerica had a vastly superior economy than the Soviets for the entire cold war still didnt stop them achieving their goals. What does Trumps dillusion or anybody else for that matter think itll be any different the second time around, second time round will most likely involve China. Russia will never kowtow to the US and vise versa, so the only logical thing to do is negotiate. If the US thinks they can contain both Russia and China , sorry but the dellsuion is far worse than it seems.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

Both countries' leaders are woefully inadequate. But the treaty's time will come again -- when sanity is restored.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

It's always politics with you isn't it?!? Sheesh!

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

In the US, that’s like SNL is American, but with mostly Canadians.

This is utterly incorrect.

Yeah, liberals keep saying that line in the hopes they can possibly believe in it.

https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/hillary-clinton-uranium-russia-deal/

I love it when you post links that you think support your arguments but actually undercuts them. It speaks volumes.
