“binding the president-elect hand and foot to prevent him from fulfilling his election promises.”

Er, haven't the republicans in the senate been doing that to Obama, over the last eight years ?

11 ( +14 / -3 )

Wow! Putin is all over the news this morning in his defense of Trump. Does he 'protest too much" you would have to be an idiot not to see the Trump/Putin connection. Putin has shamed his country. Trump has shamed ours.

9 ( +15 / -6 )

He (Putin) voiced hope that Trump’s team will consist of pragmatic people “who will not engage in moralizing

If they don't moralize it's because they are a-moral people who, like good oligarchs and the ruling class throughout history, care only about acquiring moooore, sir. But unlike Oliver, these are people who collectively own moooore than the other 99% taken all together. The PutinTrump axis: making the world even safer for their respective oligarchs and their fellow global elite to take even moooore.

Could it be that Putin’s a debtor whisperer, telling Don he’ll get his oligarchs to forget about the Don's debts to them, whispering that the Don and his pal Rex will get points on future Russian oil and gas deals, and to top it all off he'll offer Don free lifetime backstage passes to all Slavic beauty contests? And if those don’t work he can always show before and after picts of Viktor Yushchenko.

7 ( +11 / -4 )

I think Obama not only shamed our country, but embarrassed it tremendously.

Obama entered his presidency with 80% approval, and leaves with 58%.

Trump enters his presidency with 40% approval, and will leave/be impeached/resign with ___ (do the math, these numbers do not go up over time).

the far Alt-left

Please describe this mythical Alt-left. Much has been written about the Alt-right and what distinguishes it from other rightists. As a journalist, could you provide some insight into what distinguishes the 'Alt-left' from other leftists? Or is this just another "no puppet, you're the puppet" defense from the fake news post-truth angry Alt-right Trumpiverse?

7 ( +14 / -7 )

@bass4funk I think Obama not only shamed our country, but embarrassed it tremendously...No he has no match on your President Elect and he is not even in the White House..We all know your deep embedded hate for Obama don't worry you only got a couple days left..Then things will get real shameful and embarrassing..

5 ( +8 / -3 )

Mr. Putin, who routinely kidnaps, tortures, and executes his rivals, is criticizing Pres. Obama. I would say that that speaks well for Pres. Obama.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

Obama was dealing with Iran

Many countries were in that deal and it cannot be undone. Trump followers think the Iran deal was a private negotiation between just Obama himself and the entire country of Iran (yes, they think it was one person negotiating with an entire country by himself). Just like they believe that Obama was born in Kenya and the Mexicans will pay for the wall.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

Let the little Russians be little Russians.

3 ( +9 / -6 )

Amusing and cute the Slav is trying to undermine Western democracies, while at home all he has is a third-world wasteland. I guess the disturbing and immoral sexual obsession between Trump and Putin goes both ways, what a terrible natural weakness

3 ( +7 / -4 )

You must have missed this, Crazy:

“I don’t know Mr. Trump,” Putin said. “I have never met him and I don’t know what he will do on the international arena. I have no reason whatsoever to assail him, criticize him for something, or defend him.”

LOL

3 ( +3 / -0 )

"Trump is undermining Trump" with every tweet and every lie. He just needs to shut up sometimes and be above the fray, but he can't resist challenging a perceived slight against him.

[Trump] focuses on the country and not on himself.

You are drinking the cool aide. Wishful thinking at best.

Trump is the definition of self centered. I have never seen a more self centered person, and nothing has changed as a result of the election.

Yes, Trump's approval rating is the worst of any incoming president because he is a loudmouthed tool. Even the neo-nazis are having second thoughts with their hasty "Heil Trump."

Alt-righters, you got your big wish, Obama will no longer be in the White House. So, stop referring to Obama as a justification of Trump. Start defending Trump solely on his merits or lack thereof. It would be nice to hear a perspective that included policy or thought, which has been missing from your comments.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

I'm just happy that any new deal won't be renegotiated.

No, Trump says he would cancel the entire Iran deal himself. He said he would simply pick up the phone from the WH dial up Iran and scratch the deal. His followers believe 100% he can do that. If he doesn't than makes it another broken promise.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

You know The Donald is lapping this up.

2 ( +6 / -4 )

Read between the lines of the quotes in the article above and Putin's agenda is clear: Making the world safe for oligarchs. Time to party.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MdYGQ7B0Vew

2 ( +6 / -4 )

Well.. we should save the comments some people here are writing, once the Trumpster is on the chair and things begin to go FUBAR... let's see how their opinions are.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Obama ordered drone strikes on entire villages, knowing innocent woman and children will be killed, just to take out one "suspected" terrorist.

Putin is a saint compared to him.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Could it be that the far Alt-left are watching too many Oliver Stone movies?

Even if true it would be payback for all those years Trump was saying Obama was born in Kenya. Trump is a racist and the KKK vote for him.

What Obama lacks in leadership

No, it's actually Trump with his broken promises of saying he would get Mexico to pay for the wall and have Hillary arrested. Among many other promises. But if you want to say that convincing his followers that Obama was born in Kenya...then, maybe you could consider that leadership in a certain kind of way.

Carter we so bad

No wars.

Trump's wall plan is about as bad as Reagan's Star Wars plan. Reagan was OK, until his Alzheimer's started. He had too staff though while he was going downhill, thank god

Trump wants to destroy Mexico.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

Trump is undermining himself... doesn't need outside help to do that haha

2 ( +4 / -2 )

This is very true, but Trump also doesn't have to extend, make a new deal and he can always break his promise and renege on any deals once he's president.

Yeah man, all he has to do is make a new deal. Its that easy. An utterly childish world view.

In order to "make a new deal," both sides would have to give something up. The US would what, "make a new or we'll bomb you?" What precisely would a clown like Trump bring to the table? Twitter tantrums?

Reneging on a "deal?" I'm sure there'd be no fall out there... The US reneging on any deal would substantially weaken the US' bargaining power moving forward. Absurd.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

I'm not so sure about that....

Then please elaborate; something more than "I think" or "many of us thought."

Take the politics out of the equation. If I borrow $100 from you and promise to pay you back, but I never do, will you loan me money again? Doubt it.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

@bass4funk Who cares what other countries think...yeah good way to look at it because to other Countries think you guys looks like a bunch of tools....The next 100 days will be interesting, to say the least.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Of course he can't do that, but he doesn't have to renegotiate any new deals with Iran.

For the love of god, bass. You can't renegotiate a new deal. You can renegotiate an existing deal, but not a new one. So, what exactly do you mean?

I'm not tight with money, I have enough, so maybe I would.

You know exactly what I meant. So, Bass, let's make it $100,000. If I don't pay you back your $100,000, you'd be an idiot to loan me more money.

Same thing with politics and treaties. If the US does not honor its treaties, there is no point in negotiating. Thus the US loses bargaining power. Exactly how I wrote before.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

@Fizzbit

You won't hear much from the MSM or the lefties about this because it conflicts with their conditioning

I hope you lefties realize one day what utter fools you're making of yourselves by being a tool of the corporate inverted totalitarianists.

I've never heard the establishment on the right complain about the Saudis either, so why blame only the establishment left. You're right it's a corporate issue, but corporations have a much stronger stranglehold on the right.

Look at Trump's pick for Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson. He has no problems working with corrupt regimes if their willing to sell their oil and do business.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

"Putin also sarcastically suggested that Trump, who met the world’s most beautiful women at the pageant, had a better choice for female companionship than Moscow prostitutes, even though Putin claimed “they are also the best in the world.”

Sounds like Vlad could be Trump's pimp.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Reminds us of the fake news about Obama's legitimacy and Kenya/Muslim birth certificate

Lol, Trump is just getting a dose of his own medicine

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Putin should mind his own business, but that advice will fall on the deaf ears of a former ruthless, scheming, lying dictator.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

The Iran deal is something crafted and agreed upon by quite a few nations. We need them to make credible the threat of sanctions. If only the US threatens sanctions and everyone else does business as usual then we've effectively taken sanctions off the table.

It's not rocket science.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

@1glenn

Mr. Putin, who routinely kidnaps, tortures, and executes his rivals, is criticizing Pres. Obama. I would say that that speaks well for Pres. Obama

Usual Western propaganda lies. Please name even one who was "kidnapped, tortured and executed" by Putin (better several examples, because you say "routinely"),

I've got a much better line: Mr.Obama, who routinely kidnaps (Guantanomo), stages illegal coups (Ukraine), invades other countries (Libya), killing many thousands in the process, is criticizing Pres.Putin. I would say that that speaks extremely well for Pres.Putin.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Sounds like Vlad could be Trump's pimp.

Really? The Obama was dealing with Iran, many of us thought Iran was pimping Obama.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Putin says Obama administration trying to undermine Trump

Donald's doing a great job of it himself, too.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Super: The Iran deal is something crafted and agreed upon by quite a few nations. We need them to make credible the threat of sanctions. If only the US threatens sanctions and everyone else does business as usual then we've effectively taken sanctions off the table. It's not rocket science."

Yeah, Super, it's not rocket science that Obama gave the #1 state sponsor of terrorism $1.5 billion, courtesy of U.S. taxpayers.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I think the Russians probably have this mostly right.

Only question mark on the "best in the world" thing, but that was probably just a Russian joke.

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

@1glenn

I've got a much better line: Mr.Obama, who routinely crushes dissent (Ferguson), kidnaps (Guantanomo), stages illegal coups (Ukraine), invades other countries (Libya), killing many thousands in the process, is criticizing Pres.Putin. I would say that speaks extremely well for Pres.Putin.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

It says something about the Dems and Obama when what Putin has to say sounds totally believable and reasonable.

These are the kind of things I’m sure the Russians would rather not to hear>

Yeah, because they arent true. Thanks for nothing and stating the obvious again Obama spokesperson guy.

-3 ( +4 / -7 )

Super: "Let the little Russians be little Russians"

Meaning, I guess, the Russians are being childish, while Obama is not, lol.

"Wow! Putin is all over the news this morning in his defense of Trump."

You must have missed this, Crazy:

“I don’t know Mr. Trump,” Putin said. “I have never met him and I don’t know what he will do on the international arena. I have no reason whatsoever to assail him, criticize him for something, or defend him.”

-3 ( +4 / -7 )

The comments here clearly show how thin-skinned the left-loonies are. Put in's comments are the inconvenient truth. How many electoral processes have been proven to have been manipulated by the US? 81?

http://www.latimes.com/nation/la-na-us-intervention-foreign-elections-20161213-story.html

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Also, I don't hear people from other countries blaming Obama for the Iran deal. It just shows people just hate Obama.

Who cares what other countries think, I'm just happy that any new deal won't be renegotiated.

That's fake news

Uh-huh, sure. At least it helped In keeping Hillary out of the White House.

Reneging on a "deal?" I'm sure there'd be no fall out there... The US reneging on any deal would substantially weaken the US' bargaining power moving forward. Absurd.

I'm not so sure about that....

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

The article is about Putin putting his 2 cents in regarding Obama by rhetoric and action "definitely" has obviously intentionally "interfered" with the due process of the election by "allowing" party politics and personal idealism and values which does not necessarily reflect the electorate to get out of hand and become not only divisive but also violently confrontational. That is not the desired "role" of a country's leader to keep the country strong especially when the change in leadership is the "weakest" point in any nation's transition.

Putin can say what ever he wants just as the Philippine President sounded off some months ago.

But the important thing is that Putin does make sense in what he is saying. The entire world is listening to him, whether they may believe him or not. The point is, he has made an important point for all nations to consider.

Could the USA be believed and trusted?

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

No, Trump says he would cancel the entire Iran deal himself.

Of course he can't do that, but he doesn't have to renegotiate any new deals with Iran.

He said he would simply pick up the phone from the WH dial up Iran and scratch the deal. His followers believe 100% he can do that. If he doesn't than makes it another broken promise.

Many presidents and politicians break promises, Obama said, you could keep your doctor and lied as well. You going to drink on Friday? What kind of wine do you like?

If I borrow $100 from you and promise to pay you back, but I never do, will you loan me money again? Doubt it.

I'm not tight with money, I have enough, so maybe I would.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

Obama entered his presidency with 80% approval, and leaves with 58%.

Good and that's all he can leave with that Nobel Prize and I'm still trying to figure out for what he got that for. Anyway, that's the Obama legacy, his approval rating. Legendary. Lol

Trump enters his presidency with 40% approval, and will leave/be impeached/resign with ___ (do the math, these numbers do not go up over time).

Hey, that's ok, what's more important is that he focuses on the country and not on himself. We all know, the most important thing for Obama is Hollywood and what they think, well, now he can go hang out with all these loons after next week, jump on Ellen's couch and have long conversations with Oprah. Sums up what the left is, fake as Hollywood.

-4 ( +4 / -8 )

Many countries were in that deal and it cannot be undone.

This is very true, but Trump also doesn't have to extend, make a new deal and he can always break his promise and renege on any deals once he's president.

Trump followers think the Iran deal was a private negotiation between just Obama himself and the entire country of Iran

In large part they were as per Wikileaks.

But anyway, 48 hours until the festivities begin and Obama will be as low, but fading memory, party poppers waiting.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

Who cares what other countries think...yeah good way to look at it because to other Countries think you guys looks like a bunch of tools....The next 100 days will be interesting, to say the least.

And that's ok, they have their opinion about us and we have an opinion about them. How many times has Europe come to help us, give us aid or anything, flip that around and how many times have we stuck our necks out for them? So at this point and time, I think Trump should focus on the US first and let Europe take care of itself.

You know exactly what I meant. So, Bass, let's make it $100,000. If I don't pay you back your $100,000, you'd be an idiot to loan me more money.

I've done that as well, so what's your point?

Same thing with politics and treaties. If the US does not honor its treaties, there is no point in negotiating.

The US broke quite a few treaties in the past.

Thus the US loses bargaining power. Exactly how I wrote before.

We are the US, we can always find ways around this wretched deal.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

@SuperLib "Let the little Russians be little Russians."

“People who order such fakes against the U.S. president-elect, fabricate them and use them in political struggle are worse than prostitutes,” Putin said.

SuperLib, Putin sharply described your camp. LOL.

-5 ( +7 / -12 )

I'll never get why new world order would be so angry about our President Elect ,they have already deem him a Failure,A Nazi, A bigot, A Woman hater & anything they can pull out of their hats.

-5 ( +4 / -9 )

"Yes, Trump's approval rating is the worst of any incoming president"

Don't tell me, this rating comes from the same people who said Trump would not win the election, right?

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

A unified Europe under the Kremilin or Putin's rule is a good thing. No more refugees problems!

-6 ( +3 / -9 )

@SuperLib

Let the little Russians be little Russians

Moral dwarf spoke? Interesting to note that Russians never said such things about people of other nations.

@dcog9065

Amusing and cute the Slav is trying to undermine Western democracies, while at home all he has is a third-world wasteland

A "wasteland" is trying to undermind "robust and healthy" Western democracies? What a, umm, very special logic you have. Especially for you and some other posters this article:

https://www.thenation.com/article/the-perils-of-russophobia/

-6 ( +3 / -9 )

The MSM has been brianwashing their loyal followers with the ant-Putin stories for years. It's not surprising how confused they are. Take Yemen and Saudi Arabia. SA and their leaders are by far, a worse country than Russia and Putin. They are still at war, yes lefties, still attacking a Yemen tribal population with support and weapons given and sold to them by Obama and Hillary. You won't hear much from the MSM or the lefties about this because it conflicts with their conditioning, so it's easily dropped. But somehow Putin is the bad guy. And somehow they are ALL Ukrianian and Crimean patriots. AND THEN, they go around talking about the KKK and neo-nazis. Oh the irony.

I hope you lefties realize one day what utter fools you're making of yourselves by being a tool of the corporate inverted totalitarianists.

-6 ( +3 / -9 )

No he has no match on your President Elect

You got that, What Obama lacks in leadership, he makes up for that in Star power, Go Hollywood and he got a Nobel, so Obama is the King of cool, that's about all he has to offer.

and he is not even in the White House.

Exactly and as such, polls go up and down, so who cares what they say, as you just said, he's not even in the WH yet. Excellent observation.

We all know your deep embedded hate for Obama don't worry you only got a couple days left

Thank heavens.

Then things will get real shameful and embarrassing..

That's impossible, can't possible happen, Obama and Carter we so bad, Trump can't even make a distant 3rd.

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

Let the little Russians be little Russians.

For once, I actually agree with you.

The USSR collapsed 25 years ago and the KGB was dissolved.

Russia has neither the power nor resources to influence the US election, “hack” US government systems or manipulate the President of the United States.

Attributing such potential to Russia is fanciful if not hysterical.

-8 ( +3 / -11 )

Could it be that Putin’s a debtor whisperer, telling Don he’ll get his oligarchs to forget about the Don's debts to them, whispering that the Don and his pal Rex will get points on future Russian oil and gas deals, and to top it all off he'll offer Don free lifetime backstage passes to all Slavic beauty contests? Putin has shamed his country. Trump has shamed ours.

I think Obama not only shamed our country, but embarrassed it tremendously.

-12 ( +3 / -15 )

Jan. 20th can't come soon enough.

The world needs some sanity and maturity in international affairs.

All this fake news about prostitutes, hacking and cloak and dagger spy nonsense is ridiculous.
