"That's why we came here. The leader of the DPRK shows great interest in rocket engineering, they are also trying to develop space."

Putin came because he wants munitions for his failed war in Ukraine. And Kim needs missile technology to bully NK's way to relevance.

BTW, space doesn't need developing.

Russia should help the North Korean airforce modernization, if Russia could provide SU35 fighters to Iran then she can help North Korea getting the same type as well !

-24 ( +2 / -26 )

South Korea and the United States have warned such a deal would violate U.N. Security Council resolutions, which Russia as a permanent member of the council voted to approve.

The Russians has another thought and so does China. The UNSC is not a playground for America playing tricks at other countries. B.T.W. North Korea should be welcomed to join BRICS !

-21 ( +2 / -23 )

And the war once again expands. NK is prolonging this conflict by supplying weaponry and munitions to the invader. I wonder what Ukraine has ever done to anger North Korea?

Soon NK will have satellites over Japan and the Korean peninsula something they can use to spy with and for targeting purposes in the event of conflict.

The world spiraling into chaos and disorder thanks to Russia, China, North Korea and Iran. A shame nothing can be done to avoid this.

The Russians has another thought and so does China.

That they can just do what they want, Security Council be damned? Imagine making the UN your enemy.

10 ( +14 / -4 )

Does North Korea want satellites so it can look for illegal lighting within its totally blacked out territory?

12 ( +16 / -4 )

How much is this event news-worthy? If I say two beggars scratch each other's back, that won't be very far from reality. It's theatrics for assuring, in public, continuation of transactions that have been secretly carried out so far.

-1 ( +6 / -7 )

DPRK is short for the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, North Korea's formal name.

nice journalism

"I find it an honour that the president has prepared an opportunity to meet at a special environment at the launch station which is the heart of your position as a space superpower and given us a deep understanding of the way forward," Kim said.

Gagarin is laughing in his grave seeing the state of the current space program Russia has. Space superpower - my arse.

A win win situation for both nations it seems.

The Dear Leader's train's top speed is 30 mph.

13 ( +16 / -3 )

wallace

Is that on purpose or is it just a rubbish train?

-10 ( +3 / -13 )

The weight and length of the train is 90 carriages with armor and bulletproof glass. Complete with pink sofas.

Bit opulent for an impoverished nation I must day

-7 ( +5 / -12 )

A superpower resorting to beg help from poor North Korea. Poor!

Shows how desperate they are for weapons that they're burning thru so quickly. That's pathetic

That's what friends are for !

Nobody would be proud to be friends with the Kims

What have the Kims done for their people?

North Korea should be welcomed to join BRICS !

With what economy? Their main income is from hacking and extortion! Lol

9 ( +10 / -1 )

Oh yes!

Does Kim really understand what sacred fight means?

And he should be very careful what he is getting himself into.

Probably he doesn't worry. Didn't worry for his population for quite some time.

Twi mini-dictators on their way to extinction!

8 ( +10 / -2 )

Lost

Its inevitability really and what nations do in times like this.

Mr Putin will not end the conflict without peace talks, so he will ensure he has enough supply of weapons to continue the campaign. This was to be expected, don’t know what anyone would be surprised.

A result of this will be to help increase the economy of Korea. These conflicts have far reaching effects and people should understand that more fully.

-19 ( +0 / -19 )

Nowadays peace talks, peace meetings, peace journeys, and peace marches are taking place among modern people everywhere. In the remote past, ancient people with ancient minds would go to fight earning hardships and winning pain for themselves and for their loved ones. We are privileged to be living in a time of peace and fellow feeling. Long live peace in the hearts and minds of fellow mortals.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

Nothing says world super power like groveling at the feet of Kim Jong-Un lol

10 ( +13 / -3 )

all those tyrant guys all have their 'sacred fights' dont they :D

one is almost one leg in the grave, another is playing a Big Guy

hey hey, couldn't comment on this thread because the discussion is already closed https://japantoday.com/category/world/putin-signals-he-expects-long-war-in-ukraine-is-not-betting-on-trump BUT, look puti is actually boasting off his freshly made French manicure! xD

and being happy about it* xD

well he has to console himself somehow since the war in Ukraine isnt going well so he has developed a coping mechanism by doing stylish manicures xD

One has to simply admit and honestly recognize that his concept finally works. Atomic missiles programmed not only for L.A., New York and Washington, but of course also on those narrow "friends'" capitals and bigger cities, and voila, everyone of the three much more potent superpowers finally become little dogs and eat out of his hands with devotion. For the first time a big neighbor is even devastatingly begging in full public for ammo support etc. I guess he is now quite proud of that development and level upgrade.

-10 ( +1 / -11 )

absolute rock bottom Putin...oh the beaming pride Russians must be feeling today

7 ( +9 / -2 )

How long before Putin introduces Kim to his party buddy Elon Musk?

Elon Musk ‘passed out’ during Moscow meeting with Russians after taking vodka shots: book

https://nypost.com/2023/09/12/elon-musk-passed-out-during-moscow-meeting-after-taking-vodka-shots/

Xi and Modi must be jealous at the moment!

5 ( +6 / -1 )

NotThe One

if one good thing I can see about this is that today every sane human being sees them as a gang, for what they are, before 2022 they all were just among all the rest like buddies. this war truly showed who is who on this earth.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

This really feels like the charade is finally becoming unnecessary and we should all start preparing for the worst.

Stock those bunkers with beans and bullets, winter is coming.

0 ( +4 / -4 )

Putin needs the help of Dear Leader Kim. His barrel is low and needs NK weapons. Why not the Chinese?

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Pyongyang will always stand with Moscow on the “anti-imperialist” front.

As Russia is in the middle of its Imperialist drive to conquer Ukraine. Hasn't he been sucked into the Russian fake information vortex!

They must chuckle as they make such obviously rubbish statements.

Russia says fascism is bad yet Putin is clearly a fascist, and imperialist.

It is like a B grade movie with awful actors in a movie you cant watch for more than five minutes because the dialog both makes no sense and is delivered in a way that makes it all a spectacular failure.

Kim extending the trauma of all the Ukraine people not to mention that of Russian mothers and Fathers. Keeping Russia's war alive, so they can commit even more war crimes.

The world advances towards a explosive point of no return. Find somewhere to hide.

Isolationist doomsday preppers may have been right after all.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Nothing says “Mine is the side of deranged lunatics” louder than signing North Korea up to your cause.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Mr Putin will not end the conflict without peace talks, so he will ensure he has enough supply of weapons to continue the campaign. This was to be expected, don’t know what anyone would be surprised.

Putin had peace. Nobody attacked, or was planning to attack Russia. He even had his nation listed as a "special partner" of NATO but that was not enough for him. Russia was receiving Western aid to help it with its battered and failing economy after the collapse of the USSR.

Putin the imperialist wanted more power for himself, more riches. He has had a privileged life at the expense of so many Russians. Responsible for more deaths than any Russian leader since Stalin.

Putin had peace but gave it up for war. He does not want peace talks with Ukraine, he wants surrender from Ukraine and wont stop until he gets exactly that, or unless he is removed from power.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Most of us here hate Putin, Kim, and Xi and for very good reasons. I hate them all myself, but my reasons pre-date the Ukraine War and still have little to do with it. These guys are evil, selfish, greedy, freedom hating authoritians. And that's plenty good reason to hate anybody.

The trouble is, they are very far from the only ones in this world. And they aren't just over on THAT side of the fence.

These guys didn't want to buddy up like this. They had many years to do it, but didn't. Now they are. Why? Cause they were pushed. They didn't need to be pushed, but they were. North Korea has been backed into a corner. China has been boxed in for decades. Russia is getting enchroached on and gradually having the same shoes put on. They all want out of this. And applying more pressure to these lumps of coal will only harden them into diamond.

This war in Ukraine has a lot to do with NATO expansion. Nobody likes it when a group that has decided to make you an enemy gets closer and closer. But the spark was Donbas, where in pockets clear majorities wanted out of Ukraine. Was this war and creation of autocratic buddies worth it? Were all the dead worth it? To some, it indeed was, and those are the evil, war mongering, war profiteering monsters on both sides the fence, even some sitting on the fence. None of us ordinary people should be even tetatively backing those people or this situation they created as they view us all as nothing but expendable meeples on a game board.

-11 ( +3 / -14 )

The picture kinda reminds me of the x axis. Where Putin is hitler and kim is japan

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

This picture resembles two of the three stooges!!

4 ( +6 / -2 )

These guys didn't want to buddy up like this.

they have been for some time, just now it is in plain sight.

Why? Cause they were pushed. They didn't need to be pushed, but they were.

aww poor little autocrats getting bullied by the big bad west..

They never did anything bad to anyone...

This war in Ukraine has a lot to do with NATO expansion.

this is getting so old and tired, keep chanting it everyday and maybe we will all believe you..

though it is still a false narrative.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

Most of us here hate Putin, Kim, and Xi and for very good reasons. I hate them all myself,

Right, you hate them so much that you want everyone to do everything that they tell us to do.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

Putin needs the help of Dear Leader Kim. His barrel is low and needs NK weapons. Why not the Chinese?

That may have something to do with the latest official Chinese maps showing some Russian territory as their own. Probably not, but it certainly wouldn’t help the matter.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

This already a world war only going to get worse

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

North Korea has been backed into a corner.

What corner? A geographical one?

China has been boxed in for decades.

Do you mean that it needs to expand its borders at the expense of its neighbors?

Russia is getting enchroached on and gradually having the same shoes put on.

Russia's borders have never been encroached upon by Ukraine. Ukraine has never claimed any Russian territory.

You are emotionally attached to these three autocratic countries in some way. What is it that connects you to them so strongly that you are compelled to claim that they are unfairly prohibited from expanding their borders at the expense of their neighbors?

4 ( +4 / -0 )

This already a world war only going to get worse

Yeah, Putin really messed things up. The Russian with a short-man napoleon complex.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Russia is getting enchroached on

Russia holds more territory now than it did the day before it started this war. The only one encroaching upon anothers borders is Russia. Putin was trying to encroach upon NATO borders, but he didn't realize the Ukrainians had other ideas than having Kyiv taken in, and I quote, "72 hours".

2 ( +3 / -1 )

@AlternativeOpinion

They have been for some time, just now it is in plain sight.

Your own personal little band of ninjas establish this?

aww poor little autocrats getting bullied by the big bad west..

They never did anything bad to anyone...

They all did bad all over, and all the America wars we were lied to about are just the tip of the iceberg.

though it is still a false narrative.

Except its not.

When Cuba joined forces the Soviet Union and nuclear missiles were places there, America lost its damn mind. And never mind that America put nukes in Turkey first, right up in Russia's face.

No. NATO has specifically aligned itself against Russia on American orders, and it was never about anything Russia did. Its not even about Chechnya. Its about money and hegemony. America spent 20 years of the 2000s invading and occupying two countries and we know we were all lied about it. Having such a country's troops, weapons and allies on your border is a clear existential threat.

But I am not telling you anything you don't know. The question is why you post as if you don't know.

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

A four hour meeting...that's it? Must've been deep discussions. Turns out you really were running out of rockets after all!

So Vlad...you got kicked out of the G8, a trillion in assets frozen, your propaganda efforts have been iced out of the West, you're too afraid of being arrested to even attend that precious BRICS meetup, un-maintenenced Airbuses are dropping from the skies filled with terrified passengers, the Ruble is worth 25% less than in 2022, there's a pesky hole in your brand new NordStream pipes, you've almost blown through your sovereign cash fund...and now you go begging the beggars of the earth for aging, third-rate ammo and artillery?

lol. The resurrection of the "mighty" Russian empire has begun! Kim and China are going to eat you alive in negotiations. Did I mention that Russian demographics collapse and brain drain? lol. Never mind...

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Russian air space can be kinda dangerous...just say'n

3 ( +3 / -0 )

If Putin has his way, he’ll have another ally if Trump somehow manages to get elected. Putin, in essence, has endorsed him by injected himself into the Trump persecution nonsense.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

America holds more territory through NATO every couple years since the Soviet Union fell and put bases there.

No, America still is the same size as America has been for decades, as the only part of NATO that is America, is America.

Try to keep your Kremlin talking points to yourself, mmkay?

Or are you suggesting there is a global conspiracy, in which America owns all the NATO countries? Is this your theory?

4 ( +5 / -1 )

elephant200Sep. 13  03:44 pm JST

That's what friends are for !

lol, have at it, Russia.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

No, America still is the same size as America has been for decades, as the only part of NATO that is America, is America.

I provided a map of NATO countries with American military bases and naturally, that was axed.

If you think Rammstein AF base is German territory, or any other of the more than 1000 American bases and other facilities across the globe are NOT American territory then you are simply not grounded in practical reality.

Every country on Earth has good reasons to fear the United States government and military and that includes so called allies that the USG also bullies. Just ask Germany how their gas prices are doing.

So yeah, anyone declared an enemy of the U.S. is going to be extra concerned and for good reason.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

If you think Rammstein AF base is German territory, or any other of the more than 1000 American bases and other facilities across the globe are NOT American territory then you are simply not grounded in practical reality.

Are we talking NATO or America? You started going on about NATO territory, now you're going on about American territory. Maybe after you get your talking points figured out you can post something concise that isn't all over the place?

I think, japanese military agents knows what that "fat rocketman" is bringing back home in his train!

Maybe biological weapons, maybe chemical weapons...! I dont think he is bringing uranium or warheads in his train!

Open your eyes...!
