Putie raises the white flag of futility.

Putin used the word "war" to describe the conflict instead of the current Kremlin term of "special military operation".

Dictators use language any way they want; will Putin pardon those that he had jailed for calling it a war?

The best way to end this war is for Putin to call his murdering, raping, invading armies home, and promise to fund the rebuilding of areas of Ukraine he directed his forces to destroy, and then admit to and be accountable for Russian war crimes.

The world can only hope that Russia has learned that its warmongering ways are wrong, and that Russia under Putin and his Kremlin, can learn to live with its neighboring nations even if those nations want to make political/economic arrangements with nations other than the Russian Federation.

I got an easy solution for PUTAin:

get out of Ukraine, including all occupied areas

pay reparations

demilitarize

present yourself at an international war crimes court

And much more.

But this won't happen because PUTAin is still dreaming to achieve the Great Russian Empire with him being the new czar.

Ukraine prevails!

according to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, including 3,106 civilians.

This is why Russia decided to take back the Russian speaking provinces.

Yeah, it's also why Hitler "took back" the Sudetenland and the rest of Czechoslovakia. It's none of Russia's business. And don't forget, it was Russia that started the civil war. None of those civilians needed to die for Putin's imperialism.

Him jumping out the nearest window would be a start.

14 ( +27 / -13 )

Peace starts with Putin withdrawing his dogs from the sovereign nation they are illegally occupying, and letting the Ukrainians live with dignity.

Ukraine has vowed to fight until the last Russian soldier has left its territory,

Unless Ukraine runs out of troops.

Cowardly Russia is quite capable of retreating. Ukraine will not run out of troops with probably some 5 million men of fighting age.

Are the Russian soldiers leaving ?

Of course it will not begin until there are sufficient numbers retreating that their superiors can't have them all shot.

11 ( +21 / -10 )

Eh, well not starting it in the first place would be a start.

11 ( +19 / -8 )

Buyers remorse? Easiest way to end it would be to withdraw all Russian forces and stay out.

When Lord Putin talks, the whole world listens..

-22 ( +8 / -30 )

Like it or not, LOL!!..

-20 ( +8 / -28 )

Putin does not care about the tradegy he has inflicted on Ukraine. This is just a ploy to goad the West into pressuring Ukraine and lowering support for them over winter. Don't believe him and don't trust him.

19 ( +25 / -6 )

When Lord Putin talks, the whole world listens..

And laugh and call him a moron. Yes, true, a few will call him “Lord”

15 ( +22 / -7 )

Putin has already lost the war and now he only wants to save face. It's probably the biggest mistake in his presidency, because being able to sell something positive from this mess is increasingly difficult.

11 ( +21 / -10 )

Or it's a clever nod to the anti-Zelensky forces currently brewing in Kiev that if they seize power, he'll do business with them.

With fewer people in support of the war in Russia it’s more likely that it’s to satisfy the people at home that he is actually trying for peace rather than continue the war… it’d be nice if they could remove him from power, but unfortunately it’s the wealthy and those likely to be his successors that want the war to continue.

10 ( +15 / -5 )

"The tragedy" of the war in Ukraine was started solely by Putin.

The forces brewing for which there has been zero indication of?

When Lord Putin talks, the whole world listens..

Like any train wreck, people pay attention to Russia to figure out if they need to get out of the way!

Lol, this guy

No NATO is no problems, that military organization expansion eastward was the cause of all problems and tragedies !

No NATO is no problems, that military organization expansion eastward was the cause of all problems and tragedies !

It has nothing to do with Russia's imperialistic invasion of Ukraine. NATO didn't expand eastward, Putin scared smaller countries into seeking NATO's protection. In that sense, Putin is the cause of NATO's expansion.

15 ( +20 / -5 )

Putin's not getting any younger and he's having to lower his expectations and give up a dream or two. Instead of "Vladimir the Great" who united Ukraine and Russia, he's rethinking: how about "Vladimir the Great Peace-Maker" who ended strife in the eastern provinces (and who ended his days in glory and not in a cell) ?

12 ( +16 / -4 )

Are the Russian soldiers leaving ?

yes they are - in body bags !

13 ( +19 / -6 )

Global politics are a literal joke.

-9 ( +3 / -12 )

Putin says we must think how to stop 'the tragedy' of war in Ukraine . . .

Well, for starters Russia can get the hell out of a country Russia invaded that doesn't belong to it.

Secondly, Putin & his cronies should be turned over to the Hague to stand trial for war crimes committed against the civilians of Ukraine.

Third, Russia should pay for all of the damage it has inflicted on Ukraine. Sincere apologies to Ukraine are also in order.

That could be a start.

The war in Palestine started before there was an organization called Hamas, and the war in Ukraine started with the overthrow of the last democratically elected government of a united peaceful Ukraine.

No government was overthrown in 2014. The then president, Viktor Yanukovych, fled to Russia. Putin started his imperialism by annexing Crimea and started a civil war in the Dombas.

If Putin wanted Zelensky dead, he would be dead.

Can stop with the 5-6 failed assassination attempt nonsense.

Well Zelensky is on Putin's kill list, so I very much doubt that.

13 ( +13 / -0 )

If Putin wanted Zelensky dead, he would be dead.

Given Vlad’s history that is certainly true.

-17 ( +0 / -17 )

Putin needs on reflect how the 'the tragedy' of war started with his illegal invasion of a sovereign country.

Putin needs on reflect how the 'the tragedy' of war started with his illegal invasion of a sovereign country.

I doubt it.

-16 ( +0 / -16 )

Putin has tried five or six times to assassinate Zelensky.

17 ( +17 / -0 )

If Putin wanted Zelensky dead, he would be dead.

Given Vlad’s history that is certainly true.

How many national leaders, protected by loyal soldiers and bodyguards 24/7, all on a wartime footing and obviously prepared for attacks has Putin killed?

9 ( +9 / -0 )

So like all other Ukraine and Zelensky propaganda, swallowing this one whole too.

Based on….just Zelensky said so?

-16 ( +1 / -17 )

When Lord Putin talks, the whole world listens..

"Lord', cult of personailty redux. if reasonable people listen they would probably do so to hear where his next military engagement aka invasion might be so they can have enough time to try to prepare themselves to survive his next war.

13 ( +13 / -0 )

Well you have Dmitry Medvedev saying things like "There are no other options left other than the physical elimination of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and his clique,"

9 ( +9 / -0 )

How many national leaders, protected by loyal soldiers and bodyguards 24/7, all on a wartime footing and obviously prepared for attacks has Putin killed?

You basically narrowed that down to 1 person on the whole world by time you disingenuously filtered it that specific.

Might as well have added and who is under 5 feet 4 inches tall and whose last name starts with Z.

so Putin was a “killer” now he hasn’t really killed anybody? That’s a shift,

-15 ( +0 / -15 )

Dangerous killer of hundreds of people!

who also somehow failed to kill Zelensky SIX times?

yeah ok….doesn’t match.

Putin now seems to have taken up the violin attempting to play a tragic melody for Peace.

15 ( +15 / -0 )

Russia controls about 17.5% of Ukrainian territory

And Putin wants to stop the war, but keep that territory....

7 ( +8 / -1 )

Well you have Dmitry Medvedev saying things like

Saying we need to eliminate someone means assassinate them?

-13 ( +0 / -13 )

Or it's a clever nod to the anti-Zelensky forces currently brewing in Kiev

there’s no forces brewing.

West did serious mistake with underrating of Russia and its will to protect own national interests. As same as Napoleon or Hitler did.

lets put some facts together

Napoleon & Hitler were the invading army. This time, Russia is the invading army, & Ukraine will protect its national interests

15 ( +15 / -0 )

You basically narrowed that down to 1 person on the whole world by time you disingenuously filtered it that specific.

How is that disingenuous? You said if Putin wanted him dead, he'd be dead. That is him, Zelensky- that is his situation. That is why Putin failed. You were specifically talking about Zelensky. He could not kill him because he's too well protected. The question was rhetorical. I can't make this easier to understand.

so Putin was a “killer” now he hasn’t really killed anybody? That’s a shift,

What?

Ukraine has vowed to fight until the last Russian soldier has left its territory,

> Unless Ukraine runs out of troops.

> Are the Russian soldiers leaving ?

> Not what i read.

Time magazine article pointed out that the present average age of s Ukrainian soldier is 43.

Not looking good

But according to U.S. and European estimates, the toll has long surpassed 100,000 on each side of the war. It has eroded the ranks of Ukraine’s armed forces so badly that draft offices have been forced to call up ever older personnel, raising the average age of a soldier in Ukraine to around 43 years. “They’re grown men now, and they aren’t that healthy to begin with,” says the close aide to Zelensky. “This is Ukraine. Not Scandinavia.”

It's wonderful what war propaganda can do.

On the one side, you have the Pro Ukraine people that claim this is never going to stop until Russia, and specially Putin are put behind bars, which is extremely unlikely and no realistic at all.

On the other side, you have Pro Russian people that believe Russia was justified invading another country, and see Putin as some sort of super man.

There is very little to no pragmatism or nuance to be found in this comment section.

My real concern is that, as long as this us vs them mentality continues, this is going to be yet another never ending proxy war.
