Like this was really unexpected, throw the best candidates opposing you in jail. So most Russians would have no real choice. Next election will make him President for life.

I hear Putin got pissed when a woman threw him in judo.

Foxie - All the best to him? Do you not know his dark side?

LOL at the 30,000 demonstrators considering Russia has 143,000,000 inhabitants - that's 0,02% of the entire population. Good to see Putin back, all the best to him.

Good grief, the Russian political candidates are even worse than American political candidates!

I agree a little with you that is why I give you a thumb up.But actually it is not whole thumb up, only half. I think politicians in the USA/Russia are equally bad.

When Putin became president the first time in 2000 the life expectancy of the average russian male was 68 years, it is now 62 and on the decline.

Not true. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Russian_male_and_female_life_expectancy.PNG

Shock and awe-crap! Did anyone lay down a Vegas bet he would lose?

I've been known to bet against the spread but there's a point at which an outside chance becomes a fools errand.

The man who saved Russia from Western vultures is recognized as the true leader of Russia by the Russian people.

A Tsar is born!

Putin is as dodgy as world leaders come, but I guess the people just didn't want the Communist Party back in. Yet, anyway, maybe a few more years things will change...

waving Russian flags and chanting "Putin, Putin!"

Really? To me, it rang more like "Putain, Putain!"

Cool. The man who saved Russia from Western vultures is recognized as the true leader of Russia by the Russian people. I hope the exiled Oligarchs in London, New York and Tel Aviv (and in their magical yellow submarines deep below the sea) have a lousy sleep tonight.

Is this election disputed as in "hanging chads" disputed?
