Qatar! Bless your heart for standing up to that bad, bad nut case of Gadhafi killing his own people in Libya.

They nearly didn't make it! The planes were running out of fuel on the way and had to declare an emergency to land at Cyprus. But good to see at least one country supporting them in a practical way.

Makes sense that it would be Qatar:

They aren't experiencing any of the unrest that the rest of the Arab world is being rocked by - probably has something to do with the 0.5% unemployment rate and the $145,000 average salary.

Lack of jobs, and income to buy wealth is cause of Libya woes.

They the libyan citzens need to change a lot,to get jobs, wealth and no unemployment.

They need to improve in science, chemistry, physics, engineering and biology. They Libyans need to be a peaceful nation ,so that companies will open branches in Libya.

The libyans also need an open society, where media is free . There should be openess,in the society,to discuss woes of libyans.

The Gadhafi govt ,has not done enough,to make all these happen for Libyans. The isolation of Libyan, during sanction years, also was not good for Libyans.

The wealth, prosperity and happy society of Qatar,UAE,Saudi arabia and other nations, should be a role model for Libyans.

With Correct work and Changes by all libyans, libyan can hopefully make a better future Libya.

The rival factions in libya, need to make amends, and build peace, for new changes to happen in jobs/economy.

So Obama, Hillary et al finally managed to bamboozle one Arab country to agree to join this charade.

Of course one Katar jet does not make this an an Arab action. It is still the same as before: clueless Western powers getting involved in an Arab civil war. Stupid!

Qatar's leader was belittled by Ghadaffi before during an arab summit.they have not been on good terms.maybe is payback time but he should realize that your enemy's enemy is not necessarily your friend.

Well willi, in spite of your hatred for muslims (which has become kinda a JT folklore if we're honest) I guess you're at a loss for words when the Islamic-sharia-dhimmi- theory is once again blown out of the water.

From Mother-beeb:

"People have been standing on abandoned government tanks, firing guns into air, dancing in the streets and blaring car horns, he adds.

Some of them chanted "Thank you, Obama", "Thank you, Cameron" - references to the US president and British prime minister."

I note they don't mention Sarkozy, but then again he's about as popular as W himself right now.

Imagine if Iraq could have joined the popular up-rising. we're seeing right now...

What is that supposed to mean? The only thing that Obama´s bombs blow out of the water is any residual credibility of the leftist peace crowd. All the people who were vehemently opposed to intervention in Iraq and Afghanistan are now virtually delirious at the tought of bombing yet another country... and on the side on side of islamist rebels, too boot. Bizarre!

" Some of them chanted "Thank you, Obama", "Thank you, Cameron" "

Sure. And Al Quaeda says the same. Now, we area already reading the first interviews with rebel leaders who went straight from killing Americans in Afghanistan to fighting against Gaddafi.

Of course they´d thank Obama and Cameron. Everybody loves a useful fool, don´t you?

That's logic as twisted as your twisted views on Islam. Do I get to be a leftist too?

"Sure. And Al Quaeda says the same."

Have they?

It's not unilateralism when Obama goes to war without the consent of Congress or the UN, just so people understand.

A burning question: with all the unrest, with Assad and Col. Ghadafi gone or using their millions to buy mercenary support who will higher institutions of learning in the UK (like the L.S.E.) turn to for funding???? Will the House of Saud be the only big spigot left???

Yes, they have. Toppling the existing Arab regimes has long been a top priority of the AQ. And AQ has been supporting the Libyan rebels from the beginning. Which you would know if you had paid attention.

In the event, you can now already read interviews with Al Quaeda commanders, fresh back from killing Americans in Afganistan, who are now fighting against Gaddafi -- this time with US air support.

Truly brilliant, Mr. Obama!

...only, it's not AQ that's doing the toppling, is it? The Arab democracy movement is absolutely lethal to Al Qaeda, because it shows that there is not only an alternative to terrorism/radical Islamism, but a better alternative at that. The protest movement has achieved greater results in a shorter timespan than anything AQ could have ever dreamed of.

Like wise in Lybia. AQ may support the ouster of Ghadafi by force, but under their terms with their patronage. It sure as hell wasn't AQ who blew Ghadafi's tank columns to smithereens or grounded his jets. And the Lybians know it.

"NATO named Canadian Lt Gen Charles Bouchard to lead its Libyan operation, finalizing what it hopes will be a unified command to oversee military action against the North African nation."

This is something only Obama could have achieved, getting the Canadians to lead a shock and awe attack on Libya and secure things for France, and Europe, and Canada I guess.

Life in Libya was better then in Qatar or US. The main mistake of Gadhafi was his investments.Instead of medical care, social programms, education etc, he should buy military equipment, so NATO would get knocked off. Poor Libyans, thousands of them die every day due to attack of NATO.I wish you to have the same democracy as NATO is making in Libiya. You have oil and dont have democracy? Then we are comming to you.
