A good common sense move by Quebec. If you willfully put yourself and the health service at a higher risk this should come with some consequences. Yes, the vaccinated can and do get infected too but all research and data shows that they will have milder symptoms and are at least 4 times less likely to be hospitalized and 8 times less likely to be in the ICU.

You risk other lives, fill up hospital beds, cost millions of loonies and you should pay for your selfish stupidity.

This is the epitome of government overreach. At what point do they then say you're not vaccinated until you have had a booster. Second booster? It will not stop.

Spiteful moves like this only serve to undermine the idea of public healthcare. You could just as easily make the case that hospitals are financially overburdened by the obese who refuse to eat less, or alcoholics who drink too much, etc.

Totalitarians gotta totalitare I guess. Next is mandatory exercise, or pay a tax. No hospital treatment for hikers or climbers who get injured. Certainly not for illegal drug users! Test their blood and tax them too. Where does this government intrusion end?

Quebec must be competing with Victoria and the Northern Territory to see which can be the world'd most vindictive provincial/state government.

Compassion for others who are battling with their vices promotes unity within society.

Division is what provides a foothold for hate to grow, we don't need it guys.

To the posters above who stoke division, well you show your own vice right there with your promotion of division.

I forgive you. You are not bad people.

I will allow my taxes to help drug abusers, smokers, sugar abusers, sick children, people who fell off a motorbike trying a jump that was too big etc etc. I also include people unvaccinated against covid in my list.

My compassion reaches to anyone who may need it, and I hope in turn it would be extended to me in my time of crisis.

Showing love for those who are lost will make you happy from the inside out.

You sure? Should we tax smokers? Obese people? People who engage in unsafe sexual practices?

Canada really showing their true colours as a "liberal" country.

The 10 percent of Quebecois who have not yet received any vaccine doses must not "harm" the 90 percent who have, he said.

What is the logic behind this claim? We know that both the vaccinated and unvaccinated can get infected. And we are told that the vaccinated are protected from severe effects (which is the point of the vaccination), so in what universe does the claim that the unvaccinated "harm" the vaccinated make sense?

OK. So how are the 10% unvaccinated "harming" the 90% vaccinated??

3 ( +6 / -3 )

The science says that the larger proportion of those becoming infected, being hospitalized, and in serious condition are : double-vaxxed, and have on average 4 co-morbidities.

in what universe does the claim that the unvaccinated "harm" the vaccinated make sense?

By taking up finite hospital resources needed by patients who still have accidents and diseases other than Covid. Unvaxxed hogging 50% of ICU beds is just one (albeit mega expensive) easily avoidable example.

One step closer to communism.

Overloaded ERs and overloaded ICUs combine to soak up medical resources that are not available for routine emergency and clinical care and often interfere with those other forms of care. Doctors are too busy treating Covid patients to perform elective surgeries. Covid-19 consumes massive amounts of medical resources that are unavailable for others when they need it.

A flaccid argument. If you have a whopping 4 co-morbidities of course your immunity will be shot.

What does the science say about healthy vaxxed vs unvaxxed hospitalisations?

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

One step closer to communism.

Communist systems do not charge patients for health care.

....but there are only 10% unvaccinated left, and it is safe to assume that most of them made the decision because they are young and healthy. Do you have data to show that it is the young and healthy that go to ICUs, rather than those with co-morbities? Waiting for your information!
