Yet let's arm a 60-year old English teacher. She'll take care of it.

Not one time did I mention that. I said, police officer or military official

Do Republicans know what a root cause analysis is ?

Yes.

This tells us that we should not depend on the police for protection.

We don't have enough as it is and the thugs know it. These are good times for the bad guys, but then people will say, why is there so much crime in your country and why don't you stop it? Maybe we should throw a bucket of water their way or have a battle of wits to show them who is smarter.

Bass: but the lack of leadership and the unwillingness to engage the shooter

Yet let's arm a 60-year old English teacher. She'll take care of it.

The report that the shooter had been arrested before for threatening to shoot up a school is now reported as being false.

Let’s go back to reading more about these liberal ideas for mental illness and behavioral programs to stop people with AR-15’s from mass murders.

And now the talk is armored doors for schools, teachers taking SWAT training (since the police are too scared) and armed battalions of quasi yahoo’s with more guns roaming the halls of schools in battle gear.

Maybe hire Ukrainians mercenaries to come in and protect the kids? Or how about 15’ walls with concertina wire on top to keep kids locked up and safe from the 2nd Amendment crowd?

There is nothing more nutty than reading the skewed non-logic of gun nuts.

He is 100% correct.

If by 'stop' you mean by 19 armed responders, one hour and 21 dead children and educators later then yeah, I suppose he is.

Good guy stops the bad guy always after the bad guy has revealed himself as a bad guy, ie after killing a few good guys usually.

Do Republicans know what a root cause analysis is ?

Trump and republicans reiterate that they're not interested in gun control at the NRA convention in Texas.

They are, when Democrats clean up their own cities that discussion can take place, other than that, I personally don't think the GOP should be lured into doing something that the Democrats themselves have failed to do and that's rid their own cities of gangs, drugs, and violence.

So what’s your plan for arming the children so they can protect themselves?

1) More insight and resources put into healthcare

2) Metal detectors in all troubled public schools with the highest surrounding crime rates

3) Having an armed police officer on the premises

4) Clamping down on social media

5) Have on each floor one room that is a safe space shelter fortified, bulletproof where every child and faculty member can go in and take safe refuge until help comes and the shooter is neutralized.

These are some of the ideas that could easily be implemented

During the conquest of the west, there were as many good and bad guys.

Things have changed.

Except if Americans invent Minority report system, they'll never succeed preventing more mass massacre.

Anyone can do like the Las Vegas massacre in 2017.

Please tell me how you prevent the future from happening when guns are the law for good and bad guys.

“What stops armed bad guys is armed good guys,” Texas Sen. Ted Cruz told those gathered in Houston.

He is 100% correct.

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

If nothing else, this massacre puts paid to the myth that a good guy with a gun can stop a bad guy with a gun. Dozens of “good guys” with guns stood around while the bad guy put bullets in schoolchildren.

To people with brains, yes. But to people like Cruz, and the NRA, and many Americans:

“What stops armed bad guys is armed good guys,” Texas Sen. Ted Cruz told those gathered in Houston.

Is it factual and that this shooter was arrested 4 years ago for threatening to shoot up a school?

And the Republican government of Texas left him on the streets to shoot up the children of Texas. Clearly the fault of the Republicans.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

I love how republicans say an armed good guy is the best defense against an armed bad guy. Well there were over 100 armed good guys and they couldn't stop one armed bad guy.

In this case, the children were the good guys. And they weren't armed, so there's your problem.

Is it factual and that this shooter was arrested 4 years ago for threatening to shoot up a school?

Can’t seem to get that confirmed. Sounds fake to me.

Cops: I was sacred for my life, so I had to shoot.

Also cops: I was scared for my life, so I couldn’t shoot.

Every day, dimwits tell every cop he’s a hero because he put on a badge, but when the moment comes for them to actually BE heroes, well, suddenly courage is in short supply.

If nothing else, this massacre puts paid to the myth that a good guy with a gun can stop a bad guy with a gun. Dozens of “good guys” with guns stood around while the bad guy put bullets in schoolchildren.

Turns out, a good guy with a gun isn’t what we need. It’s a good guy with a SPINE.

And I have to wonder; how many of those cops, cowering in fear of that kid’s AR-15 voted for the party that made sure there was no way to stop that kid from getting said AR-15, no questions asked.

“I never thought the leopard would eat my face,” says community that voted for the Leopards Eating People’s Faces Party

Or mental and behavioral programs, I am onboard with that.

Clearly the (American) solution is a War on Mental Illness.

10 ( +10 / -0 )

Don't let the usual suspects fool you. Republicans have long opposed gun control and refuse to even legislate background checks which the majority of people support. https://www.nytimes.com/2022/05/26/us/republicans-gun-control.html

Instead they'll rail on only about mental illness which by itself will not solve the problem unless gun control is also part of the discussion.

I love how republicans say an armed good guy is the best defense against an armed bad guy. Well there were over 100 armed good guys and they couldn't stop one armed bad guy.

Or maybe we need better gun laws. I am definitely for that.

Or mental and behavioral programs, I am onboard with that.

-11 ( +1 / -12 )

Maybe the leadership needs retraining, I am definitely for that.

Or maybe we need better gun laws. I am definitely for that.

11 ( +12 / -1 )

The same thing happened in Parkland and Columbine. Also, the security guard in Buffalo was shot dead. He was actually one of the first to be killed. So, I don't know, sounds like maybe guards/police aren't that effective.

Maybe the leadership needs retraining, I am definitely for that.

-9 ( +2 / -11 )

, but the lack of leadership and the unwillingness to engage the shooter and prolonging the terror knowing the guy was killing people is just unforgivable.

9 ( +11 / -2 )

Yeah, can't blame it on the guy who went in and shot a bunch of kids in the face. Must be someone else's fault, right?

Of course, the shooter is the main culprit, but the lack of leadership and the unwillingness to engage the shooter and prolonging the terror knowing the guy was killing people is just unforgivable.

-5 ( +6 / -11 )

Yeah, can't blame it on the guy

Oh you finally blaming “the guy” now?

super odd that Buffalo was 99% about the shooter but Texas is all about the police and legislation and politicians and guns with barely a mention of the shooter.

-9 ( +3 / -12 )

It seems that the real source of the problem was the leadership and how the takedown was executed

Yeah, can't blame it on the guy who went in and shot a bunch of kids in the face. Must be someone else's fault, right?

...right?

4 ( +9 / -5 )

As reports are coming out it seems that the real source of the problem was the leadership and how the takedown was executed. Someone needs to get ready for the unemployment line. This is just outrageous that it took over an hour before they were sent in to neutralize the shooter. And thank God to or magnificent BORTAC agent that was so brave that even on his off-duty day he jumps into action and goes right into the line of fire and ultimately later takes this thug out.

-12 ( +5 / -17 )

Imagine having to do this because the police are too cowardly to act, and the politicians too cowardly to enact laws that nearly every other country on earth has.

And your compatriots are too selfish to push them to do something about it.

Before she sent the 8-year-olds back, she studied the school building, figuring out which windows she would need to break to reach them. And she drew hearts on their hands with marker, so she could identify them if the worst happened, Johnson said, as she put flowers near 21 white crosses honoring the victims.

Imagine having to do this because the police are too cowardly to act, and the politicians too cowardly to enact laws that nearly every other country on earth has.
