"officials ( in Massachusetts ) do not expect any health concerns"

I would think not. After all, Japan is on the other side of the planet. Tokyo, on the other hand, is only 280 km from the disaster.

What accident in Canada???

Seriously, what happened in Canada?

Oh the dorks at Pickering either didn't do their scheduled maintenance or the manufacturer of the seal that blew is at fault for not giving the proper change out interval

Chernobyl polluted the northern hemisphere with radioactive fall out and we never where kept abreast of that radioactive krap falling on our heads....in retrospect we sure get the mushroom treatment!

Hey you will have to google CBC Pickering nuclear plant reports water leak to get the story...this site will not allow a link to be posted to our major national new agency??? Canadian Broadcast Corporation.

WTF?? I think this article is BS seriously..

Farmboy: "It's a suspected leak at this point, and not certain, but Canada is a much closer suspected source than Japan."

So it can't possibly have been from the latter, eh? I know... forget about the wind and all that.

What scientific fact has AP (associated propaganda) reached..

Events like these really bring out the panic attacks in everyone, don't they. Any small sign of radiation detected in the world, no matter where it is in the world, is going to be blamed on the nuclear incident in Fukushima. And now that these scientists are reporting it so, I'm sure there will be a lot of people in states like Massachusetts and Nevada that will start buying up potassium iodide pills and bottled water like crazy. Gotta give it to those scientists to find ways to stoke the fears of them rednecks.

haoushaokuhaki: "Gotta give it to those scientists to find ways to stoke the fears of them rednecks."

So the people at the neighbouring supermarkets here in Osaka are rednecks? This isn't something limited to culture, my friend, but clearly panic is a world-wide phenomenon. Imagine -- fearing for your life!

Under the circumstances panic in Nevada and panic in Osaka seem to be events in two different worlds, of vastly different magnitude.

So Hartwell found some elevated level of radiation. He has no doubt, being infallible, it originated in Japan. Good for him. Nice for his statistics. For the rest irrelevant.

"very low" and "tiny" are not amounts that can be compared with anything.

humbug...

Are they really saying that in the report?

Yeah, the guys in Massachusetts did say it came from Japan. Not sure that it isn't from Canada instead. But the local press has been dead silent about the problem in Pickering even though that's right across the lake. Go figure.

Pickering reactor even held a massive public event with many children last week. Talk about downplaying the incident. about 75,000 liters of mildly radioactive "demineralized water" used for cooling was leaked.

Ok, let me give you a comparison then. When I stepped outside this morning to walk to my car, I received about 1000 times the amount of radiation, in the 10 seconds it took me to reach my vehicle then I would get if I chugged a gallon of this radioactive water. In other words, they are talking, exceedingly minuscule amounts of radiation.

In other words, we should definitely panic, cause the sky is falling! Heh.
