Glad to see there is some rain in Australia. It can only help, even if it doesn't alleviate the drought or fires completely.

This week's wet weather has given exhausted firefighters a major boost in battling unprecedented blazes that have been fueled by climate change and drought.

That climate change is stated as the fact it is is progress indeed. That's the good news.

The bad news is we are not doing enough and not doing it fast enough. It's not a matter of preventing climate change. It's already happening. It's adapting to climate change.

There has been some interesting (and cute) videos released on the news and through social media of 2 and 3 year old kids experiencing rain for the first time in their lives.

Ive just been looking at the above picture, firstly I dont think that any one could comprehend the heat that was generated when these trees caught fire, secondly what is going to happen to these scorched trees? will they be felled to make way for new ones? the timber is useless for any sort of timber production, the only thing you can do with it is bio fuel ie fell the tree chip the whole tree and sell it to power stations. if you leave the trees standing they will dry out and next time there is a fire they will be fuel for the fire.

Like the old proverb (also adapted ad for a certain salt company), i.e. "It never rains but it pours".
