Wow! That is a lot of doctors.

To the contrary, 2.39 doctors per 1000 people is less than Japan and the US, and far less than many European nations. It seems part of the problem is that such matters as pay are regulated by the government. Despite a shortage of doctors, the pay is low and they are working up to 80 hours per week according to some claims.

Is medical school in South Korea as expensive as it is in the US? Freshly minted US doctors enter the workforce with a student debt the size of a mortgage on a home. Do South Korean or Japanese doctors face this same debt load to earn their degrees?
