Of course he does. It was the west who ordered Russian troops across the border.

Meanwhile, Russia warned that Moscow could target Western commercial satellites used for military purposes in support of Ukraine, and a Foreign Ministry spokeswoman accused the United States of pursuing “thoughtless and mad” escalation.

Russians accuse U.S. of "pursuing 'thoughtless and mad' escalation." Suggesting their attack on Ukraine was perfectly rational and acceptable and not an escalation of anything? It's terribly clear that they not only lie about everything to the rest of the world but apparently live in their own self-constructed world of illusion.

The most recent thoughtless and mad escalation is destroying 40% of the energy infrastructure in Ukraine and planning a false flag dirty bomb attack. Russia spews nonsense and lies.

OK, this guy is totally delusional. Scary.

Western opponents", who he said faced the inevitable crumbling of their "hegemony".

Right. NATO has never been stronger or more cohesive thanks to you. Just ask Sweden or Finland.

Liberal Western leaders...foisting a culture with "dozens of genders, gay parades" on other countries.

Kinda hard to do that if your "hegemony" is "crumbling"?

Asked if there had been any disappointments in the past year, Putin answered simply: "No"

Any comment to that - apart from noting that Putin is totally detached from reality - would be superfluous.

11 ( +23 / -12 )

The speech contained a familiar litany of grievances against "our Western opponents", who he said faced the inevitable crumbling of their "hegemony". Liberal Western leaders had undermined "traditional values" around the world, foisting a culture with "dozens of genders, gay parades" on other countries.

Have to wonder what happened to him as a child for him to be so homophobic.

He attacked the Ukraine, he hinted at the use of Nuclear weapons, delusional old man. When you have to arrest and force your own people to fight, if you were in anyway mentally competent you would doubt your decisions. He needs a cup of tea and a long bed rest.

This shows exactly what the Russians can do better than anybody else in the world:

Lying and blaming others!

13 ( +25 / -12 )

Day by day, atrocity after atrocity, Russia looks more and more like Mordor with Putin as the evil eye of Sauron looking outward suspiciously from his dark tower.

Is "the West versus the Rest" divide valid?

In the latest UN resolution, 143 member states voted down Russia's annexation on the 4 occupied regions in eastern Ukraine. Alongside were many abstentions and non-voters. Only 5 supported Russia. The West constituted a tiny part among them. Putin needs more effort to criticise everyone!

The historical period of the West's undivided dominance over world affairs is coming to an end..

Yep, that is definitely happening, lack of leadership from any western nation especially the US is the

primary contributor for this decline.

-5 ( +10 / -15 )

Russian President Vladimir Putin showed no regrets on Thursday for his war in Ukraine, insisting that the "special military operation" was still achieving its goals and the West's dominance over world affairs was coming to an end.

When Lord Putin speaks, the world listens..

-17 ( +6 / -23 )

It was the west who ordered Russian troops across the border.

It was the west which overthrew the democratically elected government and oversaw non compliance of the Minsk agreement, with non other options left Russia followed suit by annexing russian majority territories.

-11 ( +11 / -22 )

“Have to wonder what happened to him as a child for him to be so homophobic.”

He was KGB. I think that says it all. As part of their training a lot of them were forced to engage in sexual activity with other men to test their loyalty under pressure in order to get information from their assets. He’s either gay or hates himself and blames all the innocent lgbt people for his own sodomy.

4 ( +14 / -10 )

The Big Lie of the "Special Operation" can only be put to rest on the battlefield and Putin's psychosis can only be cured by the Russian Army. Putin is a burnt blini. It's now just a matter of time before the "dead man walking" is disposed of and tossed into the dustbin of history.

6 ( +15 / -9 )

When Lord Putin speaks, the world listens..

And ridicules him.

It was the west which overthrew the democratically elected government and oversaw non compliance of the Minsk agreement, with non other options left Russia followed suit by annexing russian majority territories.

It was Russian backed separatists who were responsible for events which lead up to the Minsk agreements being proposed. Russia had plenty of options including the first… non involvement in Ukraine.

Russian President Vladimir Putin showed no regrets on Thursday for his war in Ukraine, insisting that the "special military operation" was still achieving its goals and the West's dominance over world affairs was coming to an end.

OK Vlad, let's check on those goals....

"Special Military Operation" over in one week? Check...

Flagship Moskva a rusting hulk at the bottom of the Black Sea? Check...

New Crimea bridge twisted metal? Check...

25K dead Russian soldiers? Check...

Russia's Army shown to be totally incompetent with equipment that are death traps? Check...

Having to go beg to Iran for any weapons system that halfway works? Check....

Norway and Finland adding over 1 million new soldiers to NATO Alliance? Check...

Turning Russia's economy into third-world? Check...

Sure, you're right on target...for a quick fall from an 8-story window...

7 ( +16 / -9 )

It was the west who ordered Russian troops across the border.

Nope, that was Putin.

It was the west which overthrew the democratically elected government

Nope. This isn't true either.

and oversaw non compliance of the Minsk agreement, with non other options left Russia followed suit by annexing russian majority territories.

Russia violated the terms as well, and none of that justifies invading Ukraine. "Russian majority" means piffle, you don't get to steal land in other countries, because there are ethnic groups similar to your own.

Not all narcissists are psychopaths but all psychopaths are narcissistic, case in point.

5 ( +11 / -6 )

The US and other western countries do not need "great leadership" to succeed. We've already survived several terrible leaders, and things tend to self-correct over time. Mediocre leaders are just fine, as long as people have the freedom to live their lives (and pursue success) as they see fit.

Yep, that is definitely happening, lack of leadership from any western nation especially the US is the

primary contributor for this decline.

1996, Ukraine handed over what Nuclear Weapons it had to Russia with the agreement that Russia would not invade Ukraine.

10 ( +15 / -5 )

Lets look at this headline....

Putin blames West for Ukraine war, plays down nuclear fears

What War ? Its a Special Military Operation right ? And anyone within Russia, who said it was a "War" is now in Prison.

Nuclear fears ? Who mentioned Nuclear actions publicly first ?

Aimed at a home audience and right wing pro-Putin types in the West. People like Tucker Carlson, who are too stupid to work out that Putin's anti-wokeness isn't real. It is designed to get support. His support.

My guess is that Putin has nothing against gays at all, but when he started his second term as president, his support started to wane. So to boost it back he invented an 'other' group and persecuted them.

Haaa Nemui

Have to wonder what happened to him as a child for him to be so homophobic.

I don't think he is. He is dog whistling to his right-wing Tucker types to gain their support.

It was the west which overthrew the democratically elected government

So did the US force Viktor Yanukovych into a plane and made him fly to Russia?

5 ( +12 / -7 )

Russian President Vladimir Putin showed no regrets on Thursday for his war in Ukraine, insisting that the "special military operation" was still achieving its goals and the West's dominance over world affairs was coming to an end.

He's right.

In his speech, Putin played down a nuclear standoff with the West, insisting Russia had not threatened to use nuclear weapons and had only responded to nuclear "blackmail" from Western leaders.

Yes, at a time when Zelensky was attacking a nuclear plant and calling for nukes to be used against Russia, and Truss and others saying that they wouldn't hesitate to use nukes, Putin countered by saying that he has weapons too... and everyone freaked out by his response.

-19 ( +4 / -23 )

I don't think he is. He is dog whistling to his right-wing Tucker types to gain their support.

Probably quite right. He needs to be careful though. He’s tacitly offending extremely large groups in certain countries that have been quite supportive of him, and where some of these parades originate.

Not true.

and Truss and others saying that they wouldn't hesitate to use nukes,

Who's this Truss person?

Also, Putin has threatened to use nukes from the start of the war.

8 ( +13 / -5 )

Yes, at a time when Zelensky was attacking a nuclear plant and calling for nukes to be used against Russia,

When did he do this? Sources? I know he s suggested doing what can’t be done to prevent Russia from starting nuclear war. That doesn’t mean using nukes himself though.

5 ( +10 / -5 )

Excuse me. Should read “what can be done”

6 ( +8 / -2 )

Putin the megalomaniac.

"A riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma"

-- Winston Churchill, about the Soviet Union in October 1939 after the signing of the Nazi-Soviet Pact and the beginning of World War II.

And that's also Putin's Russia today.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

@mrtinjp “with non other options left Russia followed suit by annexing russian majority territories.”

To repeat, however you cut that cake, no area of Ukraine had a Russian majority. Some or most areas had Russian-speaking minorities of varying sizes. The numbers are available with a small search. After annexation these areas were ethnically purged by forced and artificial means to adjust the ratios, …but you already know that.

2 ( +6 / -4 )

Looks as if Putin as following his troops - retreating

(concerning the nuke commnts made by his followers and him).

He can't win this war and all occupied territories, including Crimea will be Ukraine again!

Ukraine will prevail!

-1 ( +4 / -5 )

Putin is most likely certifiably insane. His anti west outbursts tell a sorrowful tale of his mental state. He will always blame the west for the soviet collapse, and wants the glory days back again. He is willing to sacrifice hundreds of thousands of lives to get some small part of it back. The man is not fit to lead any nation or have control of nuclear weapons.

Putin has caused all the pain and suffering and he is unable to accept that former soviet nations are doing much better in the Western European sphere than in the Russian sphere.

They do not want, and never really wanted, autocratic governments, and now they are free from that shackle they seek protection in NATO and prosperity in the EU. Rather than have Russia join them in that prosperity, Putin prefers personal wealth and power for himself and continues to treat his citizens as fodder for wars.

The world will be much better off when he is gone from power. The man is a nutter.

5 ( +9 / -4 )

foisting a culture with "dozens of genders, gay parades" on other countries.

This is laughable.

Does Putin still take his shirt off and engage in manly activities for his mainly male fans? There seems to be a lot of homophobia around but a lot of repressed homosexuality too in it all.

1 ( +6 / -5 )

History will not be kind to this psychopath.

6 ( +10 / -4 )

I read that Putin's original plan was to take over Ukraine in 3 days and make it a colony of Russia. Things didn't go as planned. Evidently.
