What a tragic situation. Let's hope the weather gods send rain.

Well this could be interpreted as a godly sign of anger with the oil sands industry. But I too hope the civilians are safe.

WTI (West Texas Intermediate) ~$44. But that rise was only recently. If you go thru the stocks above you can see most are losing, but with prices getting closer to $50 should see some gainers soon in there.

WTI price, but note how they dropped the fuel surcharge from 20% to even 4%. = oil transported by rail.

Terrible for the residents. Also ironic: oil sands are a a major contributor to carbon dioxide levels, thus resulting in global climatic change, leading to high temperatures and low rainfall, and ending in a catastrophic fire which destroys the oil sands town. There's gotta be a lesson there somewhere.

Since the price of oil had dropped $30-35 it made refining the tar sands mostly unprofitable. = Many empty houses and most people had left for other work. Oil is at just below $45 a barrel so maybe they will start running.

Don't comment on a topic you know nothing about. It makes you look ignorant.
