"The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitoring group said the rockets were fired from the eastern edges of the capital, where Islamist rebels are entrenched."

I guess the Russians will start heavy bombing of the eastern edges of Damascus.

@elephant200"No western countries will condemn this assault, I am sure".

"Russia has only two allies, its army and its navy". Alexander III, Russian Emperor. Hardly Russians care about western opinions after last case of Crimea and economical sanctions.

Rockets?

You mean like the things that carried people to the moon or satelites into orbit?

Classic case of messing with a poisonous snake to impress your girl/boyfriend. Apparently there are a bunch of them in Russia and a lot of them in DC who are swooning at the "manly" Putin for his bold action. In the real world - Putin just escalated terrorism to a major danger for his people - quite an achievement on top of tanking his economy, being made the pariah of Western democracies and killing off democracy in his country. What a bold and insightful leader - such charisma !!!!!!!!

@Crazy Joe "What a bold and insightful leader - such charisma !!!!!!!!".

Who else could match him with charisma ? Maybe Abe, Obama, Cameron, Holland, Merkel ? Who ?!

Looks like when obama pulled the plug on training those rebels, they forgot to return the CIA issued AT-4 rockets.

It'll be returned about a thousand fold.

If the rockets inflicted a few russian staff casualties, then they'd definitely be some trigger time for the russians.

I also bet those were Obama's rockets sent to ISIL. It is time to blow up the hell on all US backed terrorist groups in the Middle East.

The frustrations from the rebels meant ge Russian air campaign is taking effects, really hurts their morale and efficiency. Well done, Mr Putin!

Have fun with that, Russia.

Obamas airdrops to ISIS are being put to use?

Putin nails it in a recent statement:

"I think some of our partners simply have mush for brains, they do not have a clear understanding of what really happens in the country and what goals they are seeking to achieve."

Hello there, Mr. American Potus?

The situation with Russia and the middle east was predicted years ago. It would have been either China or russia, obviously it is proven to be Russia, which is going to march over the entire middle east. They wont stop with Syria. The justification will be difficult to challenge because Russia will continue to claim to be supporting legitimate governments and at the same time pointing out the people being attacked by Russia are rape slavers, violent thugs and others equally dangerous and unarguably so.

Expect russia to set itself up as the world protector from the middle east, north Africa and central asia.

Actually, Russians are already stretched to their financial limit. As far as a regional dominance Russians will find the same result AWOL Bush created. An endless "whac-a-mole" neither the States or Vlad can afford.

Bush never won anything after Trillions and an occupation. Russia hasn't nearly the same capacity as the States wasted in AWOL's privateer war. It's not a real conflict that can be "won".

Sixty years of endless conflict and bloodshed proves neither Russians or Americans will dictate to the people of the Middle East. Rockets at the Russian Embassy doorstep are simply more proof.

" Bush never won anything after Trillions and an occupation "

Seven years into the Obama administration, and some US party political fanatics are still obsessing about Bush? This is really starting to look like a psychological problem. Are these people saying their hero Obama (who created the current mess with his support for Al Qaeda / ISIS in in Libya, Tunesia and Syria) is a powerless bystander? What happened to all the wonderful things he would do and had 7 years to do?

Some logical disconnect somewhere?

Attacking an embassy. Right.

Lest anyone forget what a danger Islamist rebels pose.

Boy. It's thumbs down day, today!

Some logical disconnect somewhere? - comments

The only illogical disconnect is either ignorance or delusion. Americans should not forget who brought them to the desert to die for his friends' profits based on lies. They can take comfort the Russians are being lead into the same war.

The Party of Personal Responsibility has the greatest disconnect logically because it protects their profits and false morals. Some are understandably angry at the mention of AWOL Bush, a little more than half of the civilized world.

Americans should not be ashamed of the author of their disaster. Why not more proudly crow of his success at being greeted as the liberator of the Middle East. Vlad may find the same legacy and worst if the Russian VX, Sarin and Mustard gasses are liberated with the same success as Bush's yellow cake.

And you would be wrong:

And that was months ago already.

In this case, Obama did. Nobody forced him to support the Jihadist headcutters in Syria, together with his friends, the Saudis and Qataris.

Proof: "The only illogical disconnect is either ignorance or delusion."

The suggestion that President Obama made Putin support Assad and then caused the ISIS forces to rocket attack the Russian Embassy, well, thanks for that ludicrous observation. Another example of the GOP Shia Tea's abhorrent delusion and ignorance.
