Isn't it great when two mentally unbalanced people find each other in the world.

And please quit referring to this guy as a basketball "Star", he only got noticed because of MJ and his tattoos. Thanks.

You normally don't see the words "North Korea" and "fun" in the same sentence.

"The U.S. State Department has sought to distance the U.S. government from Rodman’s visit."

Was the U.S. State Department ever involved with Rodman's visit?

I would think Rodman could find more fun places to visit, lol.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

I hope he has fun.

Rodman says he's going to North Korea for fun

Were it that the citizens of North Korea could do the same.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

Whether they are mutually nuts or not does not detract from the fact that Rodman should probably be careful.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Wonder if he'll see Kim's disappeared Mrs while he's there. Just for fun!

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Yes, maybe thanks t Rodman, we will see North Koreans in the NBA??

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

This goose is a traitor fraternising with the enemy, anyone who supports this POS should be shipped over to Kimistan with him and not allowed to return.

A "Holiday in Cambodia" updated for the 21st C. Perhaps Rodman views NK as the world's largest theme park.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Not sure what 'fun' you can have there, but as a celeb, you never know.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Yes, does he mean he is going to have fun, or going to have "fun"?

Last I checked, a United States passport is not valid for entry into North Korea. That's what my passport reads on one of the inside pages. Wonder how he can go there when not performing official functions/duties for the U.S. government. I saw one of Dennis Rodman's interview with ABC Good Morning America's George Stephanopoulos and was disgusted with his behavior and the way he presented himself. Never bothered removing his very dark and oversized sunglasses and spoke like he was living in the ghetto. Sorry, but he needs to just go and play basketball on the streets. Shouldn't be rubbing elbows with North Korea. Just sayin'.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

I'll have to respect Rodman's attidute. He is the basketball player and refuses to be anything more. And he admits it openly. And he has every right to say that. And he annoys every armchair general by doing that:-)

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Fun? Nothing there, no sunny beach, no golf. hmmm.

Rodman needs to keep one eye open while he sleeps in NK.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

What if he upsets the child dictator KjU and is dealt with as he little kimee does......?

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Rodman is almost as weird as Kim Jong Un, they belong together.

As far as I understand, it is now legal for US citizens to visit North Korea. You might remember an eighty something year old American man getting pulled off a plane leaving NK after spending 10 days touring the country (and arguing with the tour guide, apparently). He legally entered the country with other US citizens.

While I can definitely understand the fascination with such an isolated country, I have trouble reconciling that with giving financial support to such a mess up government in the form of tourist money.

Fun? FUN??

North Korea and fun are not words I thought I would ever see used together in the same sentence. I wonder if they'll take him to an execution, or watch a starving family chase a loaf of bread down the road - that's probably 'fun' in North korea.

What a Muppet.

I guess some have a Japan pet syndrome, others a Korea pet syndrome- they think, from their bored comfort zone, that these places are interesting but completely disconnected from the reality of what really goes on. Poor dude is stupid.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

It is simple, "Birds of a feather flock together." Nobody is really interested in his opinion in the USA, so this is his way to of getting a little attention. He is too dumb to realize or understand that he is the butt of many jokes. But, "Bad publicity is better than no publicity."

asybot12: And please quit referring to this guy as a basketball "Star", he only got noticed because of MJ and his tattoos. Thanks.

I hate to break it to you, but Rodman was most certainly a star and not because of his tattoos. You may not like the guy's personality, a lot don't, but it's pretty hard to argue that he wasn't a great defensive player and you'd be hard pressed to find any legitimate list that doesn't have him on or near the top. I well remember the years that Rodman was at his best and he was nothing short of dynamic to watch. Yes, he was a star.

A five-time NBA champion in six NBA Finals appearances, he was the NBA Defensive Player of the Year twice, a seven-time NBA All-Defensive First Teamer, an All-Defensive Second Teamer, a two-time All-NBA Third Teamer, a two-time All-Star, and won seven consecutive league rebounding titles.

He also led the league in field goal percentage in 1989 with the Detroit Pistons.

While Rodman's offensive game was essentially non-existent, (his career high was 11.6 points per game during his sophomore NBA season) he averaged 13.1 rebounds per game for his career, good for 11th all-time in the NBA.

From 1990 through 2000 (the last season of his career), Rodman never averaged fewer than 11.2 rebounds per game.

During a four-year stretch, he averaged 18.7, 18.3, 17.3, and 16.8 rebounds per game.

Yawn...

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Rodman better make sure he claps a lot or he's going to get shot....

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

You're free to give me a thumbs down but that doesn't make your opinion anything more than that. A fact is a fact and the fact is that he was a star on the court long before he and MJ were ever teammates.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

On this post, many believe Rodman is stupid. In contrary, he is very smart and a genius when it comes to public marketing himself as well Miley Cyrus. He would not do this unless there are some merits for him.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

It's his holiday, and if he's doing something positive for kids, that's a good thing. I don't understand his friendship, but I don't understand a lot of people's friendships. Whatever floats his boat.

Please let me know where the facts have failed me or continue with the anonymous thumbs down if it makes you feel better because heaven knows, posting is all about feelings and not about facts.

Do not worry. Your post about his record is correct. Most people here are too young to know him. I was a big fan of Rodman and Michel Jordan.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

globewatcher: I wasn't a Detroit fan mostly because I couldn't stand Bill Laimbeer or Isaiah Thomas. That didn't mean they weren't a good team, just that I didn't like them. My mom always like Rodman, partly because he was an excellent defensive player and partly because he just followed his own rhythm and she respected that. However, I'm not sure if she'd have liked some of his later antics, especially the North Korea one. Clearly some of those commenting have little to no knowledge of the game if they really think he wasn't a star or that MJ made him famous. Thankfully, some know better.

Hey, I used to watch all games of Chicago Bulls. They were the best of best.

Especially, I was a big fan of all time big three, Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman. They moved a ball like a magic. They were good, I mean GOOOOD.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

The Bulls were good but I wasn't a fan. Celtics all the way! Robert Parrish was my man!

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Hey if you got the cash and the connection you have nothing to worry about......But, if you are a simple pultz from who isn't connected or famous well then you're funked.......

Two places I will never visit as long as they are ruled by corrupt governments, Korea and the PRC.

I know they don't want me there and I will never be there because they suk!

Man, it's hell to be the guy with all the sense.

Rodman the pioneer of North Korean basketball. Kim the friend rodman never had. Together they frolic in insanity and foolishness. Go coach rodman, knock yourself out...

Kim the friend rodman never had

Hello, this comment confirmed to me you are not old enough to know anything about him, Shame. He had to do for people in poverty in Chicago. Rodman is a very decent person. You do not want to mix him up with Mike Tyson and OJ.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

He acts very shameful now...and I do know the Bull's and all their glory...goodworks are like filthy rags, I know you know this. decent person? Lucifer was the most loved arch angle, but not anymore, not now, and not ever...and Hello to you too....

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

t-mack: Sadly, you like all the other basketball no-nothings don't seem to realize that two of his five championships rings were won when he played for the Detroit Pistons - before he joined the Bulls. As for comparing Rodman to Lucifer, get a grip man. That'd be laughable if I didn't think you actually believed your own tripe.

JoeBigs: Two places I will never visit as long as they are ruled by corrupt governments, Korea and the PRC

If you're going to limit your travels to places without corrupt governments, you're really going to limit your travels.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

I got a real strong grip, I live in Huntington beach Calif. he used to live in Newport beach , right next to me, he was always in local news, fights with neighbors, landing helicopters on the beach, loud parties and the like, he believes he is above it all...and he is no decent man, with or with out his rings...Lucifer was the most beloved angel...what's wrong with that? I did not call him Satan. and as far as no nothing tripe...I like your word choice...you however don't like mine.
