Roman chariot unearthed almost intact near Pompeii

I don’t even want to think about how many parking tickets are on that thing.

Some truly interesting news at last. Would love to see the fully excavated carriage, and a model if possible of how the original would have looked when still used and cared for.

There's a 3D video on this page of what they are uncovering, looking very much like a light buggy from an Amercian Western.

not completely wrong, but... In those times they surely weren’t used by women and there is also place for only one, at most two passengers. But the rest is of course right. They all waited for the wealthy home owner already , until he arrived in this correspondingly decorated chariot to get the ‘party’ started... Who knows, maybe he is even an ancestor of quite many people today who in hundreds or thousands stem from his wild chariot-driving...lol

Maybe this was a storage room, and the chariot was already an antique in 79 AD. Shades of Japanese matsuri floats.
